Other things to note:
As this house is unique and requires special attention and specific rules, here are some frequently asked questions regarding living on a boat.
Q: Can the boat be moved or taken out to sea?
A: Since the boat is permanently moored and fully furnished like a home, the boat cannot be moved or taken out to sea. Hiring a captain to charter the boat is prohibited.
Q: What are the operating times of the taxi boat and how much is it?
A: Taxi boats run from 7am to 1am and cost $10 HKD per trip.
If you plan on staying out late, this accommodation may not be suitable for you, as there is no guarantee a sampan is available for you to return back to the boat. Same goes with early morning flight departures (10am and before). If you have an early flight on your last day, we don't advise you to stay your last night. Make sure you have HKD cash (small bills/coins) to pay the sampan drivers before boarding a sampan.
Q: Does a pet live on the boat?
A: Zephyr, a 5 yr. old Bengal cat lives on the boat and will sometimes come up to you and say hi. He is very friendly, clean and quiet. But please note, he is not allowed to go outside. If you are allergic to cats, we advise you to consider a more suitable accommodation. He lives on the boat full time and will not be relocated during your stay.
A: The boat has 2 fully equipped bathrooms with hot water. There are also 2 100% functional toilets, but we ask that you never flush toilet paper, sanitary tissues, debris down the toilet. Trash bins are provided and emptied daily.
Q: Heating? Air Conditioning?
A: Our boat is equipped with BOTH heat and AC. No matter the time of year you visit you can be assured that you will be staying in a nice comfortable environment!
Q: What to expect that's different than a hotel?
A: It's a boat, it is a unique FUN and RELAXING experience. There may be noises and smells that you'd expect from a boat or the sea. Pumps, motors, ocean water, etc... But most of the time, the marina is very quiet.
Q: Wave action?
A: The marina has sea walls which dilute the waves. There is still a small amount of wave action due to other boats passing by so you'll feel a slight rock from time-to-time. This is just part of the experience of staying on a boat. Usually, it does not create an inconvenience.
Q: Handicap accessible?
A: No. You'll need to get on the boat which requires 5-6 steps and there are stairs on the boat. The deck stairs are steep and you'll need to be sure footed.
Q: Live-in Housekeeper?
A: A simple rule to follow. Our live-in housekeeper wants you to feel at home and equally the boat owner will appreciate care taken with their property. The housekeeper shares the kitchen and guest bathroom.
Please note: Housekeeper's sole purpose to take care of our home, plants, and cat. She is not to clean up after guests. Please always tidy and clean up after yourselves, especially in the kitchen.
