Our property offers an array of wildlife and natural beauty... with its sights and sounds....there is always something amazing to see on the river.

A quiet and serene birder's paradise where there are frequent sightings of bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, blue herons, snowy egrets, cormorants, mallard ducks and a variety of birds visiting our year-round feeder.

Perhaps you'll watch the historic sloop Clearwater set sail, see one of the local riverboats, private yachts, fellow kayakers or one of the many barges or tugboats that pass by. The Port of Albany and New York Harbor are the destinations of many of the vessels we see on the river, transporting quarried stone, wood pulp, cement and food products up and down the river.

For those who want to spend their time on the river, bring along your own kayak or canoe...follow the path down to the water...and you're off to experiencing this mighty Hudson River in a most intimate and unforgettable way. You'll see our local Kingston and Esopus lighthouses that are just to the north and south of us, the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge is also a nice excursion, nesting herons and cormorants are nearby and passing trains and historic estates will bring you back in time.

If you want to get outdoors for some hiking...many of the beautiful Scenic Hudson parks are nearby, some are only within a 15 minute drive. High Banks Preserve is their newest park, located just across the street from our property and offers 300 acres of marked trails. Esopus Meadows Preserve is just down the street, offering 96 acres of marked trails along the river, Black Creek Preserve with 130 acres, Poets' Walk is a beautiful stroll and it's just over the Kingston/Rhinecliff Bridge and Walkway Over The Hudson, just 15 minutes south of us. Mohonk Mountain House and Preserve and Minnewaska State Park offer great hiking, biking, rock climbing and swimming just within a 30-40 minute drive.

This is truly a one of a kind property.

Come ... relax and slow down.

Take time to notice what nature offers with each season.

Be inspired.

Start a tradition.

Organize a reunion, workshop or retreat.

This can be your destination....

or a jump off point to experience all that this area has to offer!

It's beautiful any time of the year!!!

Beautiful property with breathtaking view of the Hudson

  • 5 of 5

Everything was just as pictured and we were delighted to spend a few days in this beautiful home. The location was great. We went north to Olana in Hudson and south to the FDR home and library in Hyde Park. Angela, the owner, was helpful and available and delightful to work with. I would go back in a New York minute!

Wonderful home

  • 4 of 5

The river view from the house was icing on the cake. The sunrises were lovely. This house is wonderful for family get togethers. It is spacious, clean and has everything you need . Angela was very helpful with any questions that we had. The Culinary Institute and Woodstock were our favorite jaunts while there. We had a restful, enjoyable time and would definately recommend and return to this property.

Family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Riverview. The pictures did not do it justice. The house was clean and extremely well equipped. Angela provided us with prompt responses to our questions and gorgeous weather. She kept the birdfeeder full which brought a variety of colorful birds.

The first evening we had dinner on a patio on the waterfront. That patio was not pictured and came as a pleasant surprise. On the second day the 7 of us took a tour of FDR estate and had a late lunch in Rheinbeck. Day 3 we divided up and some of us took off for West Point while others went into Kingston to check out the riverboat tours and kayaking. Another stayed behind and read as she watched the boats pass by. Before we left on our last day we took a 2 mile hike around the reserve that is across the street. There is something for everybody.

excellent vacation house on the Hudson River

  • 5 of 5

we had a great 3 week vacation in August, and were very sorry to leave. Angela is terrific: very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. the house itself is great. very private. the living room and dining room are spectacular, with huge windows looking over the river, 2 very comfy sofas, and lots of pleasing decorative touches. The kitchen was large and well-equipped, although it is separate from the living area, ie not an open floor plan. the deck accommodated 4 people, and had a motorized awning for those too sunny mornings. the side stone patio has a weber grill and a patio table seating 4. the big-screen movie room was a big plus for those few movie nights we had. (a very easy hdmi connection for media devices). the parking is a little tricky - 2 slots at the door, but tight turns and a steep short driveway to use them. but ample parking just off the road above, with a short 40' walk to the house. the screened side porch has very comfy seating for 4-6, and was very useful on the especially buggy but cooler nights, but does not have river views.

The view is wonderful, and we saw bald eagles fly by several times a day, most days. numerous songbirds at the feeder, and hummingbirds as well. we also had an amazing lightning storm one night, with lightning strikes repeatedly in full view across the river. simply mesmerizing.

a half-hour kayak paddle to the Esopus meadow, with its many snow-white egrets, and herons, and the lighthouse itself. very nice.

a short 10-15 minute drive to Kingston which has a revitalized marina area, Stockade downtown area with great funky shops (best steaks ever from Fleishers butcher), as well as the many nearby towns and attractions.

one of our best-ever rentals through vrbo.
