About Page Patterson
My husband Doug and I met in Taos in 1994. I was a potter and he had just graduated from Architecture School in Cincinnati. We built an Earthship, had babies, I began Taos Clay (a community Clay Studio) and Doug joined Living Designs Group Architects. My Daughter and I rode horses together for many years, now both of our children, Emma and Jon Clay, compete on skis in Big Mountain Freeride and Slopestyle Freeride. We all spend a good part of the winter traveling to ski areas around the country and even to Canada this past season. We raft and climb and trail run in the warmer months, and sometimes even in the colder months too.
Page Patterson purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Page Patterson chose Taos Pueblo
We bought this property because it is one of the most beautiful downtown historic properties in Taos. A two story, territorial hacienda with a fountain in the courtyard where there was once a community well. Rumor says it was at one time a brothel with tunnels running below it during prohibition. Mixed use: there is a thriving restaurant downstairs and an Architecture office upstairs, creating a property that is used so many hours of each day. Hollyhocks dorn the courtyard throughout the summer and tulips and daffodils line the walkways in the spring.
What makes this Apartment unique
Besdies the excellent location, this place has sweet furnishings! Italian leather furniture, high end rugs, french press, coffee, half and half and a bottle of wine. This is our guest house so why not spend a little more and furnish how I would like our own house to be furnished? So I did: High thread count, 100% cotton linens, king size organic mattress, Ralph Lauren duvet covers and lovely, insulating blinds through which the light gently passes.

A gem in Taos
The place was awesome! Great location near the plaza. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. Everything you need to make a vacation enjoyable the Architect's Space has it. Page kept in touch throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. We loved listening to the church bells near by. Plenty of very comfortable space for all with free parking. We will definitely be back.
So happy you enjoyed it!;-)
lovely in every way!
what a sweet spot. couldn’t be a better location, super well appointed and very clean. the beds were so comfortable too! Page was very accommodating and helpful with anything we needed.... my only note is about the front wooden gate, which we did not realize was a sliding gate! 😳
thank you for everything!
Location was just amazing. Entire town was walkable from the front door.
Beautifully furnished, clean, quiet, and so convenient. And Bella's restaurant downstairs was a treat. This place just made our trip.
Great location. Lots of room.
Loved the property and Page was very kind and helpful.
Spacious and conveniently located condo
We stayed in this apartment over President’s Day Weekend, 2018 – two couples and one single. We used the apartment as a home base from which we explore Taos (shops, plaza, pueblo), Santa Fe (plaza, museums) and in between (Gorge Bridge, Ojo Caliente resort, Earthships and little towns in between). It was a great location, with parking in the lot across the street, and steps from the plaza.
We had plenty of room for five people and made use of all three bedrooms. The apartment is priced per person – if you have two people, it’s one rate, and goes up per person per night for each additional guest. Totally understandable given the extra linens, but could cause some strife if everyone’s paying the same share, as the rooms are of varying size and quality, with the bunk bed room the tightest and the “front” bedroom the largest and most luxurious.
The apartment was immaculate and beautifully appointed. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked. Page was easy to communicate with, and provided wonderful directions and recommendations. We had small problems with an overheated bedroom (the one with three steps going down to the bedroom) and the entry to the patio area (we thought pocket doors were swinging doors, and couldn’t figure out how to exit – user error!) and both times received immediate responses to our texts.
The bathrooms, linens and towels and kitchens are all luxurious and we recommend using the pedestal tub to anyone with the time! We do wish the bathroom with that tub had a lock on the door, but otherwise, had no complaints. The apartment feels like a test area for upscale architectural interiors, and we were thrilled to be using it.
Our only small concern was that the apartment is on top of a Mexican restaurant (fantastic food, slow service when crowded). We smelled woodsmoke from the kitchen on immediate arrival, but that dissipated quickly. We could also hear a squeaking door in the restaurant below, and general staff kitchen chatter. The restaurant closed at 9:00 pm, though, and I’m confident the apartment was more quiet than any nearby hotel.
Modern and cozy...
Loved the space and next time we’ll stay longer! Thank you Page!
Fabulous downtown apartment, walk to restaurants in the eve and stroll historic downtown. Taos Ski Valley is 20 minutes and Rafting the Rio Grande is 20 minutes away too. Two yoga studios are within walking distance of apartment, or take a photo tour with local photographer. Visit the Taos Pueblo, just 10 minutes away.
