Carved plaques with antlers from Austria decorate the high walls and antlered chandeliers hang from the ceilings. Newly-constructed Yosemite Copper Bear Lodge has cathedral-like windows for views of the forest and distant mountains. A small mountain creek meanders by the outside deck. Teak rockers line the deck for resting your feet after a long day of hiking in the high country or leisurely wandering around the valley floor. The great room has a large stone fireplace. A 42-inch flat screen television and blu-ray are available for watching a movie. The kitchen is fully equipped. The dining table can seat approximately ten to twelve. Phone for unlimited local calls. The home is surrounded by dogwoods, maples, large white firs, pine, and cedar. The home has two queen beds, two twin beds, and two bunk beds (one with trundle). There is a pool table and board games in the loft. The loft has leather high-back chairs for reading.
We were born and raised in California and have treasured going to Yosemite with our families and friends. The annual trip to Yosemite was the high point of each year. Our fondest memories are of our trips to Yosemite. Because of our strong love for Yosemite, we built a home in the park.
We have been vacationing at Yosemite for over thirty years. Generations of our family love the park and all the available activities that Yosemite offers. The park's beauty is unmatched. This new, charming house has much to offer to you and your family.
Close to the valley floor and Glacier Point. The home is within the park's gates. Badger Pass Ski Resort is close by.
We stayed at Copper Bear Lodge in early July 2016 with two families and loved the house and location! The house is very spacious, has a gorgeous kitchen, filled with amenities and is located in a top notch location in a culdesac in Yosemite West making it easy to travel within Yosemite. The owners have really taken care of every detail, very well organized, provided snack packs and various toiletries in each of the bathrooms. We loved the space, cooked in/grilled out every night, played games and really enjoyed the loft which had a pool table & multi-cade video game which were a huge hit with the kids! Also, Steve the owner was very easy to deal with and made the check in process very simple providing every detail for our stay.
A couple of things to note when planning your stay:
1. Internet was not available during our stay (owners acknowledged and working on options as they are limited in the area)
2. No laundry (due to water restrictions)
3. Bring in all your groceries (food and beverage) as the nearest place to shop is 30 minutes away.
Overall, the Copper Bear Lodge is an outstanding house, nestled in a beautiful location, perfect for visiting Yosemite and avoiding long traffic lines getting in and out of the park!
Thank you Copper Bear!
Every single detail, bathroom stocked with every single amenity even a welcome basket with spa DVD, loofah, lavender soaps and lotions, kitchen stocked to the gills with anything and everything you could possibly need!! Beautifully decorated great location!! Pool table, board games, DVD movies, loved our stay soooo much!!!
Our family of four couldn't have been happier staying at Copper Bear Lodge during our first trip to Yosemite. As beautiful as the pictures are of this home, they do not do it justice. The woods outside the huge picture windows are lovely, making the porch with its comfortable rockers a wonderful place to read. The living areas and bedrooms are full of beautiful treasures from nature and lots of comfortable seating. The kitchen is a dream to cook in and the owners thoughtfully provide much more than the basic staples (true in the bath areas as well). There are lovely gift baskets in the kitchen and baths- we've never encountered that before in any home we've rented. It was actually hard to tear ourselves away from this beautiful home, even though amazing Yosemite beckoned. Thank you again to the owners for your delightful hospitality!
Our time in this home was comfortable and delightful. It's beautifully appointed and the kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials. We loved the proximity to great hiking and enjoyed our time in front of the cozy fireplace and in the rockers on the front porch. The beds were comfortable and the environment peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again!
We came to Yosemite to do Half Dome, but once we saw this incredible beauty, we had a hard time leaving!
An incredibly beautiful place - a little slice of heaven on earth. The details of the furnishing and the amenities that were included were a wonderful surprise. The organized kitchen is right up my alley. Everything is thought out for travelers comfort! And, the amount of thought and energy that went in to the special gifts - they were the buttercream frosting on the cake!
The pictures can't convey the excitement we had as we pulled up to this beautiful lodge for the first time. And the feeling only grew once we were up the steps and inside. My brother-in-law, a former finish carpenter, pointed out all of the elegant construction touches, while the rest of us raced around marveling at comfort amenities rivaling a Four Seasons hotel. The decor is warm and inviting, and really encourages communal gathering. Although the internet is not reliable and there is no cable tv, the kids, all of whom are late teens, adapted pretty quickly, playing pool and several of the many stocked games. Steve was even gracious enough to add a portable air conditioner after we had expressed a little concern about the predicted heat wave. Turns out the predictions were overblown, although the air conditioner was a welcome amenity. The pride of ownership is clear, and it really contributed to making our vacation memorable. In our opinion, Yosemite West is the best place to stay for a Yosemite trip, and Copper Bear Lodge is the best of the best.
If Steve will have us again, we will be back!
The beautiful Yosemite Valley is 20 minutes away. Glacier Point is approximately 25 minutes away. The Giant Sequoia Trees of the Mariposa Grove is approximately 35 minutes away. Skiing and snowboarding at Badger Pass in the winter. Hiking trails near the home.
