The Dragonfly on the Cartecay is the perfect romantic getaway or for someone who just wants to get away from it all. Relax, refresh, and rejuvenate in this custom two bedroom hideaway perched above the Cartecay River. The Dragonfly boasts many engagements, honeymoons, and now several return guests on their anniversaries.
Relax in the hot tub overlooking the trees above the Cartecay River, dine alfresco on the porch, roast smores in the fire pit down at the river, fish from the dock, or tube or kayak directly from the cabin. (WE DO NOT PROVIDE TUBES OR KAYAKS. Easily rented nearby at the Cartecay River Experience.)
In the evening, enjoy the custom lighting down to the river or rock on the porch and sip your favorite drink while listening to nature and the sound of the rapids. Don’t forget to wet your fishing line for fresh river trout or bream. You might even spot a river otter.
Guests love the tastefully decorated cabin which includes two bedrooms, two full baths, custom hickory cabinets throughout, fully kitted kitchen with custom lighting and granite countertops. The gas log fireplace awaits a cozy fire and you!
Fall guests stay in the perfect cabin for visiting Ellijay’s best apple houses as they are only a stone’s throw away on highway 52. Year round enjoy the best wines at Cartecay Vineyards, only three miles down the road, where you’ll find delicious local wines and entertainment.
No matter what time of year you visit The Dragonfly, its magical and ideal setting is sure to please.
NOTE- road to the cabin is gravel and easy terrain. No need for special vehicle.
About Peggy
We are a couple with 3 beautiful West Highland terriers (all rescues). We offer our cabin as dog friendly to responsible pet owners like ourselves. Sorry- no cats. (Please, no smoking anywhere on the property.)

You are a stone's throw from the Cartecay Vineyards and the fabulous apple houses on HWY 52. Perfect location.

Perfect and elegant base camp for day hiking in the north Georgia mountains
We thoroughly enjoyed our spring time stay - all the comforts of home, and the woods were beginning to come alive with blossoming trees. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the rockers on the deck after a long day of hiking. Location is central enough to reach a lot of fantastic day hikes -- including the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi! Highly recommend.
Amazing Weekend Away!!
The Dragonfly was wonderful and we are beyond happy. My girlfriend and I got engaged there and it's a beautiful setting for relaxation and/or getting out and being active. Top notch owners as well!
Amazing Riverside Proposal
Wow, what a great experience we had at the Dragonfly. The cabin is in immaculate condition with all the amenities and cooking appliances one could imagine. The cabin's property literally backs right up to the river. Riverside they have a porch and a firepit, so you can roast marshmallows and enjoy a quiet night with wine listening to the river pass over the rocks.
Peggy and Darrell went above and beyond, and then beyond that, in preparing the cabin for my surprise proposal weekend. The plan was to arrive to the cabin by canoe and have a big marriage proposal sign on the riverside porch, with a cameraman in a tree and local delicacy basket inside. Peggy and Darrell had to arrange all of this and they did a fantastic job. My then Girlfriend had no idea how I pulled it all off and I couldn't have without Peggy and Darrell's support!
I highly recommend staying at the Dragonfly and my Fiancee and I will be coming back for years to come.

Perfect Getaway!
Took my girlfriend for a nice relaxing getaway. The cabin was was extremely nice and had everything you need. We enjoyed the Hot tub each night with a fire going right next to us. Each afternoon we enjoyed the deck that sits right on the river! It was such a great spot that this is where I decided to propose to my wonderful girlfriend!! The river, location and lighting of the deck made it such a wonderful place. Peggy was an excellent host and easy to contact with any questions you might have. She even called us the first night to make sure everything was perfect. This place will always be special to us and we can't wait to return!

We really enjoyed staying at the Dragonfly. It is decorated nicely and was so cozy! We enjoyed the hot tub each night while our dogs were safely gated in on the porch with us. Peggy, the owner was really nice and easy to communicate with. She even called to check and make sure that everything was perfect at the cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone, especially people that travel with their furkids!
Beautiful & Relaxing
My wife and I loved staying at this beautiful cabin. It is a great getaway that is quiet and relaxing. The location makes it easy to get to all of the surrounding towns and Amicalola Falls. The hot tub was perfect at the end of the day. Our dog enjoyed every minute and loved being on the enclosed porch. Peggy was very helpful in the entire process. We had a great time.
