Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Taormina - Villa Ida, Taormina

House with front garden, 3 bedrooms over 2 floors, sleeps 6

Villa Ida is a unique property nested at the heart of the ancient Taormina village. With over 120m2 inside and 150m2 of private garden, it offers plenty of room to accommodate up to 6 guests.

A very well preserved 19th century building, secluded by a lush garden on the front side, it develops over two levels.

The ground floor centers around the living room, which opens toward the garden through two arched window doors. On the back side, there is a spacious sleeping room with a queen size bed and a private balcony with a splendid view of the quaint pedestrian street. A spacious kitchen (offering a secondary street access) and a bathroom with shower complete the level.

The first floor, accommodates under a sloping roof the master bedroom with kingsize bed and view of the lush garden below, a second bedroom (with two single beds) and a full bathroom.

The property is uniquely located at the heart of Taormina, an ideal base to discover Sicily or simply laze by the sea.

Lovely cottage in heart of Taormins

  • 4 of 5

We and our 2 kids aged 8 and 6, thoroughly enjoyed our late autumn break at Villa Ida. Being right at the heart of beautiful bustling Taormina was ideal. You step out of the cute garden onto a quiet street, and everything is there, bakery, restaurants and shops. Having the garden is quite special so central. The house itself is charming and very spacious. We recommend restaurant Shelter, around the corner, great food and particularly good service. Though there are plenty more, also good. We loved the views and setting of the beaches in front of Isola Bella, truly stunning! We also drove out to the sandy beach at Giardini Naxos. Autumn is a perfect time to come, warm enough to swim and to take long walks. Thank you to Davide for making Villa Ida available and making everything run so smoothly.

Wonderful villa in Taormina!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Villa Ida in July 2015. The villa was very clean and well maintained. The location was perfect! The villa is around the corner from Corso Umberto (the main street) but in a surprisingly quiet area. The garden with the citrus trees was beautiful and great extra space for an 8 year old to play. Davide's communication was excellent and our stay was seamless! He was also very quick to return our full security deposit. We used Salvatore from Davide's recommended car service and travel to and from the airport in Catania was easy. We would love to return to Villa Ida for another holiday!

Soooo Special!

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with Taormina while staying at Villa Ida! My husband and I were traveling with our 18-year-old son and my Mother-in-law. The location of Villa Ida in the heart of the village is ideal. We walked everywhere - restaurants, markets, shops, churches, gardens, and the beach. This place is spectacular and Villa Ida is in the middle of it all. Thank you Davide for your excellent service.

The perfect place to stay in Taormina...

  • 5 of 5

You simply won't find a better villa in Taormina - you would never guess that you're only one street back from the Corso Umberto when you walk down the beautiful little street and turn into the tranquil garden filled with lemon and orange trees. The house and garden are beautifully kept, and Davide was very good with the communication side of things as well.

One thing I would say, is that if you have small children who aren't safe on the stairs, and you don't like constantly following them everywhere, then this probably isn't the place for you, as there are lots of little sets of stairs here and there. In fairness, Davide warned us about this as soon as we mentioned we were bringing children, and a wonderful little cot was provided for our youngest with lovely bedding and everything. I've stayed with James villas - they provided a cot with no mattress or bedding, so Villa Ida definitely wins there!

We stayed here for a fortnight as we had our wedding in Taormina, and all of our guests who visited the villa were very jealous! You are right in the centre of town, just 30 seconds walk to all the bars and shops, yet the house and garden is totally private and calm.

We did lose a bit of our deposit, as we broke quite a few glasses etc, but this was all accounted for in a fair and honest way, so no complaints there! If you're not as clumsy as us (we did have 4 kids staying, which accounts for some of it...) you'll be fine!

Exceeded Our Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Ida in mid-May. As other reviewers have said, it is very accurately described and is in a splendid, central location and very close to all the amenities you would need. (Restaurants, Bars, Mini-markets, Bakeries, shops, bus station, taxi rank) Worthy of note are, La Bottega di Laganà, Via Di Giovanni 47, a specialist food store that stocks an excellent range of foods (try their red/white wine and don’t be put off by the plastic bottles!) and Bam Bar, 45 Via Di Giovanni, rightly popular with visitors who want to try granita and brioche for breakfast, delicious! Corso Umberto is only 30 seconds away, too.

The Villa is well maintained, spotlessly clean and was even better than the photos suggested, there is ample room for 3 adult couples. Be warned, however, two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms have sloping ceilings, but for us this just added to the charm. The kitchen is well equipped for those who wish to cater for themselves.

The garden is delightful with orange and lemon trees and garden furniture and, considering how centrally located the Villa is, surprisingly quiet. We retired to eat our lunch there most days, with food and wine bought from La Bottega di Laganà. Delightful.

Owner Davide was extremely easy to deal with too and his communications were excellent as was his advice on a variety of things. Our Security deposit was refunded very promptly.

All in all, we had a wonderful stay at the Villa Ida, Would we return? Definitely. Would we recommend Vill Ida? Certainly, without a moments hesitation. But then again we might just keep it a wonderful secret...

Villa Ida-Second visit

  • 5 of 5

We had visited Villa Ida in September 2012, we enjoyed our visit so much we returned again this year. We were not disappointed! The house is clean & equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Exactly as we remembered it.

The location is perfect-Mini markets, restaurants, bakeries, & shopping all within a 5 minute walk.

I hope that my future includes another visit to this beautiful spot. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a girls getaway or a romantic holiday in Taormina.
