City centre 2 bedroom apartment sleeping 6 people

This first floor flat (one flight of stairs) is in a traditional 200 year old building. Princes Street is so close you can see it from the living room and front bedroom. The Castle and Royal Mile is a 10 minute walk away.

The accommodation comprises 2 double bedrooms (the largest bedroom has a double bed and single bed), living room which overlooks the tree lined churchyard and beyond to Princes Street. This has a feature fireplace, flat screen TV, DVD player, sofa bed, dining table. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a dishwasher and a washing machine. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, wash hand basin and toilet.

Great location.

This is a spacious, well-appointed flat in an ideal location for roaming the city. It is close to the major attractions, but also to support services--grocery store, train station, etc. There are many quality restaurants nearby as well. It could use a bit better lighting (common complaint) and a simplified instruction sheet for the oven and heating systems. Also, it would be nice to have some ice on hand. But overall we were very happy with this choice.

excellent location but disappointing property

the property had the feel of a student apartment and didn't live up to my expectations given the price I paid for my stay. It wasn't well maintained and not very clean. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone.The one redeeming feature was its location.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments and I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I always take the cleaning of our properties very seriously and it has come to my attention that the cleaning company that I have been employing have fallen short of our standards recently but this has now been rectified. It is fair to say that this apartment is furnished rather simply but it is functional and I would hope that the photographs do show this. Your stay was during a weekend in July which is in the popular summer season so the prices reflect this. I am not sure precisely what you were referring to when you said that it was not well maintained but following your comments we have re-sealed the bath and repaired a window so that it opens and closes more easily.

Location, Location, Location!

This flat right near the Castle is such a fantastic location i would say book it on the strength of that. Walking distance to the Grassmarket and the Castle as well as the Royal Mile. We had such a wonderful time in Edinburgh and Francois was very kind. He allowed us to get into the flat early and leave late which was really helpful for our flight times.

Its an old building so its not perfect but the flat itself is very spacious. The wifi was really helpful and the shower wonderful and we had most of what we needed for our stay. The downsides....the water pressure is pretty awful (can't blame the owner for that think its just the building). The flat is not double glazed so i guess its probably pretty cold in winter and its noisy on the front. The kitchen is stocked enough for drinks and the odd fried breakfast but i wouldn't want to cook a whole meal in it (we didn't need to luckily). I would say whoever cleaned it did a 'surface job' it was fine but the inside of the oven including the grill pan was really quite dirty. There were extra pillows in the cupboard but we didn't find any pillow cases.

These were all just niggly things to us though. We had a wonderful stay and if Francois would have us we would definitely stay again.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments. The water pressure is only a problem in the toilet as this fills from a water tank, otherwise the shower and sink fill directly from the mains so you get proper mains pressure everywhere else. It is true that there is no double glazing but the heating works very well, in fact the central heating boiler was replaced just over 6 months ago, so there is no problem with it being cold. With the oven I'm not sure if you are referring to some "staining" which has not been possible to remove even with getting a professional oven cleaner in to treat it. I will try someone else to clean the oven and if this is unsuccessful then we will need to look at replacing the oven.

Heart of Edinburgh!

Our family of four were comfortable in this lovely flat in Edinburgh. Close to buses, train, and metro as well as the Edinburgh Castle and wonderful places to dine. The kitchen was well stocked, the apartment clean and roomy, we were extremely comfortable and enjoyed relaxing at "home." A Saturday market was across the street with many local treats (to eat and items to take home to the U.S.).

Francois greeted us at the door even though our train had been delayed. He went over the details of our apartment and recommended several wonderful restaurants within walking distance. If we ever return to Edinburgh, we will definitely stay at this location.

Note: Two properties are available; The first floor flat is one flight up the stairs, with the second on the the fourth floor. This was not a problem for our family, but something to keep in mind if there are any issues with stairs or luggage, as there is no elevator available.

Spotless clean anything you need for your stay is here perfect for all attractions in the middle of everything lovely place to stay and would recommend this appartment had a friendly welcome met on arrival given keys stayed for the rugby England v Scotland and being English and winning made our stat perfect thank you for having us Alan plant and friends

Great Location! Great Apartment!

The location was fantastic, and the apartment was great! We had 6 adults in the apartment and there was plenty of room. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. We had done some apartment rentals in other places and did not have the greatest luck, but this apartment was well represented in the photos and included all the things we needed. They even had some info on the local area and restaurant / grocery store locations, which was great! Fantastic place and would definitely recommend!!
