New, spacious, private house located on top of a ridge on beautiful Lake Shasta. The view from the front porch (and every window on the house) is devoid of any evidence of civilization. From the elegant homes front steps you can ride your bike down the seemingly private dirt road to Hirz Bay, whose only tribute to humans is the stone remnants of a bridge built in 1930. Bring the kayaks to this bay and you will find yourself in the McCloud arm of the lake. This world famous fishing lake of course joins the main areas of Shasta Lake where you will finally meet up with other boaters. Make sure to bring your ski boat as well. There is lots of parking at the house and the boat ramp is only 4.5 miles away.
More about the house. It is a 2000 square foot house that was completed in 2010, featuring three bedrooms plus a loft. 2.5 bathrooms, large living room, dining room with soaring ceiling and huge windows with views to match. Decked out kitchen with plenty of counter space. The home was purpose built as a high-end vacation home that self-generates it's own power through an extensive solar system. Downstairs there is a bedroom with a queen sized bed and a full bathroom. Upstairs is a master bedroom with a Sleep Number queen sized bed and it's own full bath. The third bedroom with a trundle bed (two twin sized beds) and a loft with a futon and space for the little ones and a half bathroom are also located upstairs. The living room also boast home theater equipment including high-definition big screen led tv, built-in speakers, powered sub-woofer, and a blue-ray DVD. There is the small town of Lakehead with stores, gas, and restaurants only about a 10 minute drive North and a 25 minute drive South gets you to Redding.
Although it is secluded and you feel like you are very remote, conveniences are not that far away - you just can't hear or see them.
After being born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, we were always attracted to the beauty and recreation at Shasta Lake. We spent many summers at this beautiful lake and fell in love with it so much that we moved the family here six years ago and built our dream vacation home. We would like to share our home with you so that you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this paradise and make wonderful family memories of your own.
Mark Shukis purchased this house in 2010
It is secluded in beautiful surroundings with the lake a short distance down a seemingly private road. There is so much natural beauty and recreational opportunities within short distances. There is plenty of parking for all of your toys. Bring your boat(s), ATV, mountain bikes, and hiking gear to visit the hidden waterfalls. Although many people would never know, this is an off-grid home that generates all of it's own electricity - yet has all of the amenities (i.e. high speed internet, satellite TV).
Enjoy a home which is driving distance to everything good yet nothing in seeing or hearing distance expect peaceful nature.
We had out whole family there, my wife and 3 sons and their wife's/girlfriends and we had a great time enjoying this very nice property. It is really deep in the woods so it's good to get in before dark or it would be hard to find. When you get there you will find that it's nicer than it looks in the pictures. Its very quiet and secluded. We were able to cook great meals in the kitchen and using the grill and it was so relaxing after a day on the lake or touring Lassen. We were all able to kick back and enjoy each other's company around the nice dining room table and then in the yard and tv room where there are dvds to watch. My son and his girlfriend really liked flying around on the great rope swing and we all liked Kendall, the friendly neighbor dog. I'd go back to this property again. If you go, end your day there with all of the food and beverages that you need and relax so you dont have to go back out. Then enjoy the peaceful property in this nicely appointed home. We had a very memorable few days there.
We had a great time at the Shasta Lake Retreat. It was quiet, relaxing and comes with many charming qualities such as the neighborhood dog! The owners were very attentive, calling to check on us when the weather was colder to make sure we were ok. It was a close drive to the lake and to Redding. It is a house in the forest so be prepared for some bugs and spiders, but the house was very clean. There are children's videos, games and books that definitely came in handy. Overall, we had a great time and would stay here again.
We had a beautiful stay at this home. The house was clean and comfortable. When there was a problem with the generator, we were able to contact Mark easily and he responded right away. The house is set up well for 2 families. Essentially 2 master bedrooms with their own bathrooms and a kids room, loft, and bathroom. Kendall, the neighbor's dog, would come and visit us, sometimes just laying on the porch while our son played. There are ample trucks and outside toys, a swing and loads of awesome kids books! Don't bring kids books with you when you come... there are plenty! Although secluded, this home was a short drive to the freeway and it was fun exploring around the area. We would highly recommend the Shasta Caverns tour.
We had a great time at the Shasta lake retreat in the Pines. The House is in a secluded area where there is only sound of birds chirping and wind whisling. We had everything in that house for our vacation. Mark and mellisa was ready to pick our call anytime we called them and helped us.There is a dog named Kendall who was always with us and kids had so much fun being with her. she was so protective and was coming with us where ever we go. We miss you Kendall.
Only drawback is that the kid friendly lake (whiskeytown lake) was abit far.
The Shasta Lake Retreat in the the Pines was a very nice get away. The home meet all expectations, modern, clean and comfortable. The swing was a hit with the adults and the Kendall the neighborhood dog was friendly and a welcomed sight. I would recommend this property to my friends or famliy.
my family and a friends family stayed at this house in june 2013 and had such a wonderful time. we had 5 kids ages 2 to 6 and they had the best time. the house is in a beautiful and secluded area - so the kids were able to explore for hours upon hours. no only did the kids have fun exploring - they also have a tree swing and tons of toys.
the house is large and set up wonderfully for large groups. our 2 families had plenty of room and never felt like we were in tight quarters. the house was very clean and well stocked for anything we needed.
the house is about 4 miles from the nearest boat ramp = but it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to drive there as the roads are very curvy.
the house also has a very special guest that my kids (and I) loved - a dog named Kendal. she is one of the most sweetest dogs I have ever met - and she found herself in many of our pictures from our vacation. when we left - we all were sad to say goodbye to kendal the dog. the kids had fun with her around.
and lastly the owners of the house were wonderful to work with. they were always fast to respond to any emails before our stay and during our stay they answered our calls when we had questions and were always 100% there for us. they did their absolute best to make sure our stay was perfect and hassle free.
