We searched in Destin and the surrounding area from Orange Beach Alabama all the way down to Alyce beach for over a year and stumbled upon this area. We love Destin but the traffic, congestion and hectic pace always kept us at bay. When we first drove down we fell in love with the tall pines, wide open spaces, quiet communities and a life that we had growing up where you knew your neighbor and everyone was your friend. Villa Del Sol had the number of rooms we wanted, a pool and it was on the beach. Honestly we could have not afforded a place on the beach in Destin but now we have been blessed with this.
After looking in Destin, when we saw the size, the location on the beach and it had a pool, we knew this was the place for us. Eating dinner on the deck watching the dolphins and listening to the waves is one of my favorite experiences. I don't think life gets any better than that.

Cape San Blas is along the Forgotten Coast of Florida south of Panama City beach. It's like going back in time to a peaceful, tranquil era when families would spend time reconnecting, relaxing and rejuvenating. I'm sure you will fall in love with it just as we did. If you are looking for a fast paced nightlife and constantly staying busy this may not be for you. But if you want to watch a sunset, relax on the beach, play with your kids or grandkids, then this is the place. There are outdoor activities like St Joseph State park right down the road or biking along a path that is miles long. You can rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boards for a daytrip in the bay or the gulf. You can catch a charter fishing trip or bring your own boat. The closest shopping is in Port St Joe about 15 minutes away and Apalachicola is only 30 minutes away but if you are looking for a mall, then it's a leisurely drive to Panama City. There are lots of trails to explore for some nature trips with the kids or bring-your binoculars for some good bird watching. You may see the bald eagles that live around the bay. To me it's truly magical. It's peaceful, a place where nature and humans live in harmony, where the hectic life gets dropped and replaced with the sounds of the surf rolling onto the sands, where you replace loafers for bare-feet and where the majesty of the sun sinking into the ocean becomes an event you never forget. Come and see.
