About Kevin and Danielle McCarthy
Kevin and Danielle McCarthy purchased Coconuts in 2010, and began extensive expansion, remodeling, and upgrades, which were completed in early 2012. Coconuts has since become one of the most popular rental villas on St. John. In 2013, we had an opportunity to purchase the adjacent villa on Gifft Hill, Plumeria vrbo 472847, which allows larger groups of up to sixteen guests to be accommodated. At both Coconuts and Plumeria, we are singularly focused on making the guest experience the finest it can possibly be.

Why Kevin and Danielle McCarthy chose Estate Glucksberg and Grunwald
We were in the market for a villa with incredible ocean views, sunsets, Caribbean indoor / outdoor living, a level floor plan with a flat driveway, quick and easy access to Cruz Bay, and complete privacy. We were delighted to find Coconuts in the summer of 2010, which fulfilled all of our expectations and more. With the renovations and expansion that we embarked upon, Coconuts has gotten even better. We invite you to join our many repeat guests in discovering this tropical gem.

Everything you need
We stayed at Coconuts this past week in June. The place is great! First, the view is breathtakingly beautiful. That alone is worth the crazy roads you have to take to drive around the island. It has everything you need from kitchen utensils, very comfortable beds to snorkeling equipment and so much more. The layout is actually 4 separate buildings. I don't think I understood that when booking, so my daughter ended up sleeping with me and my husband in her room. We weren’t comfortable leaving a 10 year old in her own room which is also the room closest to the street. Our boys were fine in the loft area with the king and twin bed. The week before we came it rained the entire week. The mosquitoes were in full force. We spent a lot of time indoors because the bugs were biting so bad even with bug spray. So watch the weather and bring your spray if it’s been raining. We watched movies on the projector, which was great. It felt like a real theater. The kids spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub. We did play pool and corn hole but had to typically cut it short due to mosquitoes. It was an unusual amount of rain and mosquitoes, the entire island (natives, tourists) was talking about it, so don't let it sway you from not coming. The outdoor kitchen was phenomenal. We grilled 4 nights. We packed a soft cooler and checked it at the airport and brought chicken, steak, cheese, etc. saved us a ton of money and the meat in the states is just better. Just an idea for others, especially because the kitchen is so fantastic. We made pancakes and bacon, grilled shrimp and veggies on the tepaynaki grill. The island and beaches were beautiful and the people we met that live on the island were simply charming and kind. The owners were very good about communicating and we couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Thank you coconuts, we’ll never forget the view!
Above and beyond
Kevin and Danielle are the kind of HomeAway hosts that all travelers seek to find. They not only provide a home with truly thoughtful amenities for the traveler, but go out of their way to anticipate and answer any questions you may have, and make themselves readily available for any additional needs. A truly exceptional experience, especially if you’ve never been to St John and don’t have a point of reference for comparison. Then the villa itself has a view you can only imagine. Comfortable beds, local flora and fauna to enjoy, hot tub, pool, billiards, outdoor kitchen, sun and shade; you can enjoy the villa itself some days, guilt-free, even with those amazing beaches calling. St John is well on the way to full recovery post-Irma and there are many excellent dining options, as well. A great vacation spot.
Breath taking views from Coconuts, possibly the best on island!
This was our third time on St John since last April right after the hurricanes. We are amazed by how quickly the island has come back.
Kevin and Danielle the owners of Coconuts did a fantastic job of showing us all the amenities available to us during our stay. This place has everything you could possibly need if you head to the beach or just stay at the villa. We want to personally thank the both of you.
Our family had a great time. Loved the out door kitchen, pool and hot tub. Would definitely go back
Great rental. Perfect location! Owner was very helpful.
We stayed at Coconuts for 10 days recently, as a group of 7 (4 children). It was our first trip to St John. We had a wonderful time! The property and views are even better than the pictures! The indoor/outdoor living is so nice; the constant breezes make it nice, cool, and comfortable. The kitchen is small but it is one of the most well-stocked kitchens we've experienced in our travels -- sharp knives (a rarity in many rentals!), nice non-stick fry pans (also often hard to come by!), good variety of pots/pans/mixing bowls, everything you would need (and then some!), and everything in very nice, new, clean condition. There were plenty of nice amenities throughout the property (e.g. pool table, hot tub, hammock, surround sound, covered seating areas) that we all thoroughly enjoyed. The master bedroom mattress was extremely comfortable, too (again, often hit or miss, even in expensive rentals!) There were plenty of comfortable spots for people to relax together or separately. While the sunset views were beautiful, I thought eating breakfast outside in the morning was equally lovely, relaxing, and just as beautiful. Kevin and Danielle are top notch, attentive, gracious hosts. They were on the island while we were there and did everything they could to make our stay as nice as possible and were never more than a quick text away; it was as if we were staying at the home of friends. We love St John and miss it already! We would not hesitate to go back and stay at either of Kevin and Danielle's properties!
More amazing than the pictures!
Coconuts is my new favorite place!! My husband and I stayed here just us two in off season November. It was amazing to say the least! We had MORE than enough room. The place was clean and put together and exactly like the pictures. We rented a Jeep (which I highly suggest) and it is a quick 10ish minute drive to downtown where we ate, shopped, picked up groceries, etc. Amazing views and an all around fabulous stay! We will definitely be coming back and bringing friends to show off our new favorite Island and Villa! Thank you for everything!
About St. John:
Travelers have once again voted St. John their #1 Caribbean destination in 2013, and for good reason. Thanks to the foresight of the philanthropist and naturalist Laurence Rockefeller, two-thirds of St. John has been and will in perpetuity be preserved in its original state, as part of the U. S. Virgin Islands National Park. Its 35 picture-perfect white sand beaches are each unique, with many of these lying within the boundaries of the National Park. As a result, when you turn away from the Caribbean Sea and look inland, you witness unspoiled virgin green hillsides, looking much as they did back in 1493, when Christopher Columbus discovered and named these islands. St. John's hilly terrain, and the literally hundreds of islands and cays that surround it, provide unmatched vistas and photographic opportunities from all around the island. The V.I. National Park maintains dozens of excellent hiking trails, and well preserved ruins from the era of the sugar mills allow you to step back in time to that earlier period. Despite large tracts of undeveloped natural beauty, St. John also offers extensive fine dining options, and the seaside village of Cruz Bay has many interesting shops to peruse.
If this will be your first visit to St. John, you are in for a treat!
