About Kevin and Danielle McCarthy
Kevin and Danielle McCarthy have been vacationing on St. John for many years, and bought their first villa there, Coconuts, in 2010. In January of 2013, they had a wonderful opportunity to buy Plumeria, the villa adjacent to Coconuts. They immediately set about adding a number of the differentiated amenities that have proved so popular at Coconuts, and are singularly focused on making their guest's experience the best it can possibly be. Feel free to contact them with any questions that you might have, and they would be happy to email you their 'Welcome' document, which provides lots of helpful information about Plumeria.

Excellent Property and Owners
Very comfortable visit, great communication, well equipped property. This was our 3rd visit to the island, and the accommodations were fantastic. The owners have thought of everything... Cheers, Dan and Donna
Outdoor Living at its Best
This is a great villa with beautiful outdoor spaces. We truly lived outside for the six days we were there enjoying the breathtaking views with coffee in the mornings and wine in the evening. The beds were quite comfortable and the house is very well stocked from the kitchen to snorkeling gear to the amazing telescope. The owners, Kevin & Danielle, could not have been nicer or more helpful...including offering to drive us to get out rental car when flight delays prevented us from picking it up the evening before. We would definitely stay here again, and may even rent the sister property next door for a larger family get away. Great set up.
This house was perfect for our girls trip! Kevin and Danielle were super accessible and friendly with any questions or issues. They had beach chairs, cooler and snorkel gear for us to borrow which was really helpful! I would recommend Plumeria!!
The owners are attentive hosts and have taken good care of this home and grounds. The layout is nice for families with older children. The master bedroom is across from the main building on the other side of the pool, allowing children to entertain themselves while grown ups relax. We enjoyed the pool table, ping pong and pool. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to use the outdoor grill. The beds were comfortable with good quality linens. We appreciated the plentiful beach towels, snorkel gear and coolers. The property is located ~10 min from Cruz Bay, which is nice, and close to all beaches
Great Location, Amazing view, perfect house!
This is our second stay at this house. The owners did an amazing job on repairs after the storm, and the house is even better than before! My kids loved the new pool/ping pong table and used it every night. The outdoor grill also got lots of use. I love this house for many reasons . First, it's pod arrangement - having to go outside to get from the main room to the bedrooms really makes it outdoor living. I have stayed in houses where it is all together and I find myself feeling cooped up.Second, the view is amazing, you are at the highest point on Gift Hill with great breezes and a sunset view. We made sure to be home every night for sunset to have a glass of wine and enjoy the show. Even with the Sahara dust in July, most sunsets were spectacular. The dust came and went over two weeks. Third, is the owners attention to detail. Even though this house is older, it is kept perfectly! the towels are cozy, the bugs stay out with the new screen doors, there is lots of beach equipment, a blender for smoothies, spices, etc. A great rental with everything you need. For our family with 2 teens, the rooms were great, one kid in the bedroom and one in the loft. I highly recommend this house.
As for St John, we snorkeled every day. The reefs were damaged but the snorkeling is still amazing! In order of best to worst - Waterlemon (swim counterclockwise and beware the current - go on the calmest days), Hansen, Little Lameshur, Trunk (usually this is not great, but it was not hit as hard as others from the hurricane, so it was pretty good, and then it had huge tarpon!), Maho (always guaranteed to see turtles in the middle, and great fish at the point to the right), Francis. Salt Pond and Honeymoon were hard hit, not much there at all. We tried Jumbie and Scott - both had current making it hard and not much to see. A must do, we rented a small boat from Low Key is Cruz Bay and spent a day just around the North Shore seeing it from the water.
We preferred to cook at home so only went out for lunches. Coral bay's Aqua Bistro has great grouper sandwiches, and in Cruz bay the Deli in Mongoose was very good, especially the smoothies (with ice cream)!
none of the beaches have facilities but we didn't really need them given we just stopped at each for a 2 hours snorkel then out to lunch. we are not ones to just hang out on the beach. The island is ready for visitors if you are not a resort person. Rent a villa and a jeep and explore and snorkel - it is awesome!
Perfect vacation on St. John! We love this house!
We just had our second amazing vacation at Plumeria -- the first was in 2016, and we could not wait to get back. We love this house--lots of room, very comfortable, everything we need in the kitchen (and outdoor cooking area) to eat several nights in, but mainly FANTASTIC outdoor living area. We love the HUGE deck with pool, hot tub, comfy furniture, cooking/dining area, pool table, and most importantly, the most glorious view.
We were the first post-hurricane guests, and the owners were so attentive and hopeful that everything was perfect for us (it was!). We very highly recommend this vacation home. We will be back!
About St. John:
Travelers have once again voted St. John their #1 Caribbean destination in 2013, and for good reason. Thanks to the foresight of the philanthropist and naturalist Laurence Rockefeller, two-thirds of St. John has been and will in perpetuity be preserved in its original state, as part of the U. S. Virgin Islands National Park. Its 35 picture-perfect white sand beaches are each unique, with many of these lying within the boundaries of the National Park. As a result, when you turn away from the Caribbean Sea and look inland, you witness unspoiled virgin green hillsides, looking much as they did back in 1493, when Christopher Columbus discovered and named these islands. St. John's hilly terrain, and the literally hundreds of islands and cays that surround it, provide unmatched vistas and photographic opportunities from all around the island. The V. I. National Park maintains dozens of excellent hiking trails, and well preserved ruins from the era of the sugar mills allow you to step back in time to that earlier period. Despite large tracts of undeveloped natural beauty, St. John also offers extensive fine dining options, and the seaside village of Cruz Bay has many interesting shops to peruse.
If this will be your first visit to St. John, you are in for a treat!
