About Philip Roberts
5th generation Copper Island resident. Long line of copper mining history in my family.
Philip Roberts purchased this House in 1932
Why Philip Roberts chose Calumet
Grandfather purchased the house, guest house and surrounding properties in 1932. Additional property and neighboring cottages were bought in early to mid 2000's. Only one other neighbor besides the 3 other rental cottages at separate addresses all private from one another. Beach is all private property for miles with no development.
What makes this House unique
Great design and layout! Modern elegant and tasteful while still remaining relaxing and informal.

Beautiful home and surrounding scenery
The property was as described and was well equipped. Beautiful surrounding scenery and host was very responsive.
This house is everything it is marketed to be and more. We absolutely loved our stay, and we will be back.
We had a fantastic time at the property and in the area. Mr.Roberts was a great host.
The purpose of our trip was to see fall colors and be by a large body of water. The trip was superb on both counts. Mr. Roberts was helpful, understanding, and prompt through the entire experience of reserving the property, arriving, staying, and departing.
There are three good restaurants in the area. Carmetita's, Michigan House, and Harbor Haus. The short trip to Harbor Haus is worth the trip alone but the food is an added bonus.
Lake Superior was magnificent to see and experience. From the property, the sky is clear and can be seen without any urban glare.
The property itself is snug, clean, sturdy (for tough winters), and well provisioned.
Thank you Mr Roberts
Comfortable and Accommodating
Our family had a wonderful time at the lake house. There was plenty of room for the 8 of us and we especially appreciated the large kitchen which could easily accommodate all of us for dinners together. The Keweenaw has always been our favorite place to vacation in the UP and the lake house is in a beautiful part of it, situated right on Lake Superior. We thank Peter for his hospitality and for providing a beautiful and well-appointed place we could all get together and catch up.
5th Summer and cant wait for next!
This has to be the best place along the shore for a large family up here in he Keweenaw U.P.! Gorgeous large house and everything you could need. It’s now our family tradition!
Wonderful House, Memorable Stay
We split this house with another couple and the four of us loved it.
Things We Loved:
*View of Lake Superior from living area and patio
*Kitchen (had everything we needed and more)
*Nice bathrooms with everything you need including lots of towels
*Speaker that connects via Bluetooth or auxiliary-input
*Good place to walk the dogs
*Proximity to everything in the Keweenaw Peninsula
*Philip (we've stayed with him before and he is such a wonderful host)
We will definitely return!
Nestled in the wooded shore line of Keweenaw County, this stunning property on Lake Superior is a short 3 miles to historic Calumet. Calumet was once the epicenter of Copper Mining and one of the wealthiest cities in the state. Today it serves as a National Historic Park and a view into yesteryear. This house was built by C&H (Calumet & Hecla) Mining company over 100 years ago. Come relax on the large deck or sandy beach with a speckled shoreline of agates, thompsonite, as well as other Superior treasures. Explore the almost 4 miles of undeveloped beach surrounding the home and the near by nature preserve, Black Creek Nature Preserve. Great for bird watching, northern lights sightings, rock hounding, and well deserved rest & relaxation. Come see why our customers prefer our properties, and keep coming back. To ensure availability of desired dates, we recommend booking 6-9 months prior as we fill up fast.
