Free parking on the street. Many nights there is a spot open right in front of the house.
Bus, grocery stores (Vons, Smart n Final), restaurants (Sala Thai, Garden Fresh, Woodstocks Pizza, Pesto) and fast food are within walking distance but you'll want a rental car to get around...San Diegans say "everything is 20 minutes away."
Kroc Center, San Diego State University, Viejas Arena, Trader Joes, Alvarado Hospital, MTS Trolley, and freeways are one mile away.
North Park's restaurant and craft breweries are a 20 minute Lyft ride away.
Hike or climb at nearby Mission Trails or try an indoor route at Mesa Rim Climbing Gym.
Everyone says everything in San Diego is 20 minutes away. Rolando is truly the norm (barring crazy rush-hour commuter traffic) it’s a 20 minute drive from/to airport, train-station, cruise ship terminal, Coronado Island, Belmont Park Big Dipper Roller Coaster, Mission Trails Regional Park, downtown/Gaslamp, Grossmont Hospital/College, Islandia or SeaForth deep sea sportfishing boats, Balboa Park, Chinese Historical Museum, Petco Park, Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Old Town, and beaches.
La Jolla Cove is a bit further - 30 minutes by car and is great for snorkeling and viewing seals. You can also rent kayaks or book a surf lesson with Doug or Benny at La Jolla Surf Systems in La Jolla Shores.
Safari Park is 45 minutes north.
The historical mining town of Julian (Laguna and Cuyamaca) is 90 minutes away. Anza Borrego State Park (desert) is 2.5 hours east of San Diego. It's a wonderful weekend camping trip in spring or fall.
Try out the amazing culinary scene in Tijuana, BC, México, just 20 minutes away, or head further south to Valle de Guadalupe and Ensenada to taste wines of Baja California. Forgot your passport or travel card to cross border? Then check out wineries in Temecula, one hour north by car.
We are native San Diegans; a friendly, hard-working family. We know the area well and can suggest the our favorite taco shops, yummy restaurants, mountain bike and hiking trails, craft beer scene, and local attractions.
Our “casa” is a great option for visiting professors, international teachers, traveling nurses, or a quiet family touring SD/visiting their SDSU student.
We look forward to welcoming you to our quiet, friendly, family home and neighborhood near SDSU and just minutes away from downtown and local beaches.
PLEASE NOTE: we love our neighbors and aim to provide a comfortable experience for our guests and a responsible rental that benefits and highlights our residential Rolando community. Take a look at the rules below from manual before booking. If these are not for you and your group then kindly do not book with us.
1) We live downstairs so all people staying in the home must be identified on rental agreement and all renters must agree to House Manual/Rules before check-in. All people entering the home including renters or guest visiting renters are subject to background criminal and Megan’s Law check. Only renters identified on the contract are allowed in home after 9pm. We check identification at check-in and cannot accomodate more than four guests. Please do not try to arrive with extra guests or plan to have extra people stay the night. We live on the property and this is never allowed.
2) Thank you for respecting our peaceful property. We ask for quiet hours between 9pm-7am. No partying, loud TV/music, late-night coming and going, loud cars or motorcycles, yelling/rough-housing, moving furniture, firearms, smoking/vaping/420, rough-housing, excessive drinking, drugs, or illicit activity in or near rental at anytime. Do not remove, replace, or attempt to modify or repair anything in the home. No pets.
3) Window locks must stay locked on any windows that open to the second story canyon when any child under 12 is in the home.
Basically if you or your guests aren’t non-smokers, quiet, kind, clean, mellow, and caring, then our home is not for you. Please consider another setting.
It's not fancy, but we have worked hard to clean, style, and stock the home to make your stay comfortable. Everything in the home belongs to us and our family who stays here when they come into town. We thank you ahead of time for treating our home and things with care and following all instructions in the house manual. Please let us know if something is broken or missing. We will review inventory list and photos before check-in/out and have the house cleaned and stocked to welcome you when you arrive.
If you are cool with the description of Lorca Drive, and our expectations for your stay, we are happy to share with you our San Diego locals-only expertise and a relaxed San Diego styled home. We look forward to meeting you.
