Friendly hosts and a great property

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage full of charm and character on magnificent grounds with lovely hosts near by who are warm and welcoming. A short walk away from horseback riding, archery, zip lining, and a falconry school. Beautiful Ashford castle is also a short walk away. We had 3 children with us and they loved the chickens on the property, fighting over eggs each morning. A great place for families who like to hiking and outdoor activities.

Enchanting Holidays

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely holiday in the beautiful Schoolhouse cottage. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well appointed. We had everything we needed for holiday dinners. Frank and Kersti’s hospitality made our stay perfect. We arrived at the cottage, and Frank had a cozy fire going and the cottage was decorated for the holidays. Kersti made Christmas scones for us. From walking through the beautiful forests to enjoying activities at the castle, we had an enchanting holiday, and the Schoolhouse was a comfortable home for our visit.

Lovely accommodations next to Ashford Castle. Comfortable, nice views. We wish we would have visited in the summer to take advantage of local fishing. Enjoyed day trips to Galway and Westport. My kids LOVED the loft upstairs, was perfect getaway where we could all have a bit of space to ourselves.

A beautiful place....

A really magical place, full of history and charm. The owners were so warm and genuine. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our family. We will cherish our time at the old school house for years to come.

Perfect secluded house

  • 5 of 5

My family (two adults, two kids age 7 and 9) stayed here and it's a lovely house, on the edge of both Ashford Castle grounds and also some open and wild lands. Main sounds are birds, sheep, and a couple chickens. There's one bedroom with a door, and then three smaller beds upstairs in the loft. There's also a bathroom upstairs, so the loft area is pretty big.

Plus it's exciting to drive through the Ashford Castle gate and cross the bridge to get onto the property. It's a 10 minute walk to the castle and then another 10 to the village of Cong.

We loved our time here!
