This was a wonderful place for us. It was very comfortable for the 4 of us. The view was wonderful and the pool was an excellent place to cool off after a day of wandering. The living area also had a great view through the large patio doors.
The roads on this part of Crete are not for the faint of heart, but the reward of the views or beach is well worth the effort. And if you need a break from the tense driving like we did, just stay around the villa and hike to the sea or chapel or wherever. It’s a really great area to wander about. Plus the area is not overrun with crowds which is a very key element for us.
Maria was easy to communicate with. There is a book with things to do and estimated drive time to each. The kitchen worked fine for us to make some of our meals. I HIGHLY recommend you have a meal or two at Gialites in the village. The food, family owners and setting was wonderful.
Great place to stay!
Livadia village is located in the south-western coast of Crete, 72 km from Chania Town and 35 km from Kissamos. The village is set at the foot of Koutroulis Mountain, washed by the salt breezes blowing from the Mediterranean Sea. It is located in the middle of the European hiking path E4 – a seaside route of exceptional natural beauty. The West coast of Crete is considered to be one of the purest areas of the island; magnificent beaches with crystal clear waters, wild landscapes, rich flora with unique herbs and flowers, plenty of small coves and mountains dotted with traditional villages make the perfect scenery for those who want to relax away from the tourist resorts of Crete.
The coastline of Livadia is an ideal destination for snorkelers and divers, combining clear, sparkling waters and a rocky sea bottom. The pebbly beach is secluded and offers visitors peace and quiet.
You can taste the traditional cuisine of Crete and savor wine and tsikoudia in the company of locals in a variety of local tavernas in the area. In Livadia village there is a traditional taverna serving delicious local food, a few metres from the villa. There is a mini-market in the village of Chrisoskalitissa as well as in Sfinari and larger supermarkets in the villages of Platanos and Kissamos.
Within short driving distance you can find the world famous exotic beach of Elafonisi with its soft white and pink sand and its shallow crystal clear waters, as well as the spectacular monastery of Chrisoskalitissa overlooking the Libyan Sea.
