The DBGH is your home away from home. It is 500 sq ft on each floor. Perfect for being able to get stretch out and relax. One could be taking a nap in the unbelievably comfortable Green Acred Bedroom while the other is downstairs watching one of the many dvds we have or some television. Perhaps you will spend some time in the back yard that is totally enclosed with a brick fence. If you are traveling with other friends staying elsewhere, you can invite them over and have plenty of room to entertain. It just doesn't get any better in Clarksdale than the DBGH.
We are eager to welcome you to the Delta Bohemian Guest House.
The home has a unique floor plan, providing plenty of room for guests to seek individual privacy. The living area downstairs is ideal for wonderful conversation. The dining room table is a favorite gathering spot for guests as well as the tin roofed picnic table in the back yard beside the Bohemian Pond and Garden.
Your vehicle can be parked in the off street parking in front of our storage building adjacent to the Guest House, street-side in front of the Guest House, or in the covered garage for The White House which is next door to the Guest House. Madge and Billy were great hosts and made our stay and very enjoyable experience.
We loved our stay at the Bohemian Guest House - Madge and Billy were wonderful to deal with and extremely hospitable - they even invited us to join their annual Christmas Eve party - Southern hospitality at it's best. Billy's tour of the town and the Delta was lots of fun and very informative - we highly recommend it. As for the guest house, what a gem. Loved the decorating, great quality of the bedding and linens and an extremely comfortable master bed. The property is nice (though our weather did not allow us to take advantage of the backyard) my husband and I found the house to be very comfortable for us. Loved the quirkiness that comes with a home from the 1900's - we laughed when my husband sat our suitcases down in the kitchen and they just rolled right over to the staircase! The town has plenty to offer in the way of live music and dining. Very relaxed atmosphere. We would love to return to Clarksdale at a different time of year (better weather hopefully) and we would certainly stay at the Bohemian again. Madge and Billy - thank you again for making us feel so welcome!
Have you ever been to a place where you say "We're staying with Billy & Madge" and EVERYBODY knows who you're talking about & it opens all doors? That's the experience at the Delta Bohemian. You become part of this eclectic, eccentric, wonderful town that ranges from grit to gentility. We can't say enough fabulous things about staying at the Delta Bohemian. Sure, there are plenty of funky places to stay in Clarksdale. But few are perfect for a trip with a teenager or embed you right in the centre of all things local. The house itself - the old servants quarters - is beautifully crafted and decorated with enormous care to reflect the true bohemian character of the area. Comfortable, perfectly sized and just beautiful. It was like living in a wonderfully wacky gem coloured curio cupboard. All with a funky garden in the back to kick back, tell stories and crack open a cold one. You can walk down three blocks to the centre of town which means the house is a stroll away from the Delta Blues Museum, Cat's Head Gallery, Stan Street's Ham Bone Gallery, Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Club, the Oxbow Restaurant, Miss Dell's General Store and Tennessee Williams' grandfather's home. Madge & Billy are the consummate hosts. Born & raised in the area, they know every nook and cranny and can guide you successfully through an indepth immersion of all things Delta. Billy took us on an all day tour - be sure to ask him about that or a shorter tour - that took us rambling through the old plantation fields, out to Robert Johnson's grave & to the site of Emmit Till's murderers trial. Amazing, life changing experience. Thanks so much for a truly amazing time!
