About Michael Gabbard

We have been vacationing in the Tawas/Oscoda area for thirty years. We have five beautiful children. Finally, we have purchased our Lake House in the area we love. The Tawas area beaches are some of the best in the state. The shopping in Downtown Tawas is awesome and they have an event almost every weekend. Throughout the summer, there are multiple art festivals and shows. We currently live in the Metro Detroit area, but are up at our Lake House anytime it isn't rented. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!

Why Michael Gabbard chose East Tawas

We chose this location because we love peace, quiet, nature and fishing!. It's a unique experience to see amazing sunsets on the sunrise side of the state. We have the best of everything on Tawas Lake! During the day, we spend our time on the beaches at Tawas Point State Park which is located less than 10 minutes from our home. In the evening, we sit on our deck with sipping Michigan wines and watching the most amazing sunsets. The kids can fish from morning until night right off of the seawall on our property. They will catch one fish after another on Tawas Lake. This lake is every fisherman's dream location as the fishing is amazing. Our family enjoys every trip up to our Lake house. There's always something to do in the area. Tawas has activities almost every weekend, all summer long. In the winter, the famous Perchville weekend is held here as well. For anyone who doesn't enjoy fishing, there is great shopping in the area. The beaches are some of the best in the state. Newman street is famous for the best shopping on the East side of the state!

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with this Lake! The panoramic views from the house are literally breathtaking. The national forest on the other side of the lake gives us lots of privacy, not found on other crowded lakes. We love not having noisy jet skis and boats in front of our home. Our neighbors do not rent their homes and are rarely there. The way our home is placed on our lot, we have lots of privacy on our deck facing the water. On our lake, you'll only find fishing boats and pontoons. It's so peaceful and the views are spectacular!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was a great house for shopping, viewing the fall colors, and relaxing. The national forest on the other side of the lake is beautiful in the fall. We shopped all day and hung at the house, looking at the lake in the evening. The owners are easy to work with and were very helpful.

Very nice

  • 5 of 5

Overall we had a wonderful stay. We were in town for a wedding with 2 small kids in tow and shared the house with friends also in town for a wedding. Everyone had space and it was nice to sit by the fire and look at the lake in the evenings. It's not a swimming lake but we knew that ahead of time, and there is a nice beach in town 5 min away. The house was way better stocked than anywhere else I've been. For example, my daughter needed a safety pin for her flower girl dress and I found a sewing kit with safety pins in the drawer. Micheal was great to work with as well. I had a few questions before my stay and he was happy to answer all of them. The only downside was there is no washer or dryer, but I saw a coin-op laundry place in town (didn't show up on google).

This is a nice cabin on a shallow lake. It's nice for kayaking canoeing and bird watching.

Nice relaxing property

  • 4 of 5

Property and house was great. It was a little difficult to access the kayaks from the dock even for the grand kids and not deep enough to swim in. Stated it had air but it was a small window air conditioner and did not cool off the house. The temps though were in the upper 90s and very uncomfortable. Bring extra fans if it is going to be hot. The house was missing a few items like dish washer soap and other daily needs but a quick trip to Walmart solved that issue. We brought 6 kayaks and the grandkids had a blast. Lots of fish on worms and some nice bass on a rubber seedless frog. Lots of birds and a small outside ant population.

The house is close to town and the Tawas State Park and swimming in Lake Huron. Overall nice place and the owners were great to communicate with.

Was nice.

  • 4 of 5

Was disappointed as there was no reg. T.V. channels. And read about the damage deposit as there is a trick to that. Other than that it was nice, clean and peaceful enjoyed our time spent there. Weather was just perfect. Just may be booking again next yr.

Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Four sisters spent a lovely long weekend in this beautiful home. Very clean and comfortable with plenty of space to spread out or come together as desired. Master bedroom overlooks a peaceful lake with beautiful sunsets. It was a bit chilly for much deck activity, but the view was wonderful from the eating area. Lots of birds, deer and a curious otter one morning! We loved every minute and look forward to returning. Thank you for sharing your home and providing us with a memorable experience

Great Vacation Spot in Tawas

  • 5 of 5

The house has all the modern conveniences one would want in a vaca rental. The kitchen was well equipped and overall the house was clean and in good shape when we arrived. Great location, right on the southern shore of Tawas Lake. Beautiful sunsets over the water. Lots of room in the house and the upstairs master bedroom has many windows overlooking the lake. It's a quick, easy ride into town to pick up any items you need or to go to the beach. Owner was prompt to reply to questions and is easy to work with.
