A beautifully furnished cottage in a lovely countryside location

  • 4 of 5

My parents and sister stayed here for three nights and it is very charming cottage. Beautifully decorated and a pretty location with a footpath nearby to walk alongside the hills. I will pass on their comments:

The cottage was very pretty, roomy, comfortable and clean. There was loads of seating, in the lounge, the dining area and outside. Beds were comfortable. Quiet, pretty location with nice garden. Location was convenient, out of town, but close enough to get to for amenities.

However, it was not for us, too high tech, with induction hob, combination oven/microwave and sky tv. It took a day to read all the instruction books to find out how everything worked. It was a nice place to stay, but not if you intend to cook.

Notes to agent-

I have left an honest review of the cottage and our stay. However, there were a number of defects that we were not happy with-

One of the arms of one of the dining chairs was broken when we arrived.

The shower door hinges were loose, so it did not close properly to start with and the floor flooded. We then learned that it was necessary to lift the door to close it properly. We were worried that if it fell off entirely it could have smashed on the stone floor.

All of the electrics (hob, oven/microwave, dishwasher, tv) were difficult to use and entailed a lot of time reading all of the instruction manuals.

The hob was very slow to heat.

Having a combination oven/microwave was not very convenient.

One of the bedside table lamp bulbs blew as I switched it on. The fitting was so loose, with no easy means of switching it off, I did not feel safe in attempting to change a bulb.

Another bulb in the lounge exploded like a firework, so I just left it alone as well.

We were not impressed with the central heating coming on at 3am in June.

The wardrobes were full of fold up beds and bedding, so could not be used to store clothes.

It's a beautiful cottage in a nice location but it could be better maintained.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Redcarr Lodge is in a good location, very convenient for Stirling and beyond. We had a lovely few days in April, it was cozy with all the usual things you expect and a few extras. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and excellent quality, the only thing i found was the cupboards were a bit high to reach some of the dishes. Very comfortable furnishings and plenty of room. Parking off road great.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at Redcarr Lodge. It really is a well equipped and looked after property. I will mention to the owner about perhaps putting in a stool for the hard to reach higher cupboards. Hope to welcome you back again sometime in the near future.

Annual short break in Scotland

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for just three nights at Redcarr Lodge and found it to be a unique and lovely property in a beautiful rural setting. The house is very well equipped and extremely comfortably furnished with very modern conveniences. The hosts provided a welcome pack and ensured that we were settled with a personal visit. The rooms were very comfortable and warm and the hosts had provided ample entertainments in the way of books, DVD's and games.

We used the house as a base to travel to the surrounding area and had no problem finding it from the directions given at the outset. The only grumble we would have, if pushed, is that the road which runs alongside the property is quite busy and this is noticeable early in the morning.

I would and have recommended the property to friends/family.

Owner's Response: It is great to hear you had a wonderful stay at Redcarr Logde. The property is well placed for lots of sight seeing, and it is in such a pretty setting at the foot of the Ochil hills. The road can be busy, but hopefully the picturesque setting more than makes up for any noise you experienced when you first arrived. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a great review - maybe we can welcome you back again one day!

Redcarr Lodge 2016

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful cottage, very comfortable, clean, with all electric appliances that anyone would need whilst on a break away from home. It is located in Clackmannanshire in central Scotland making it ideal for trips out to Stirling, Perth, Glasgow, Edinburgh, actually anywhere in central and southern Scotland. The only problem was the noise from traffic passing the cottage on the main road to Stirling. It was really only a minor drawback as you quickly get used to it and don't notice it that much anymore. The cottage itself was great and I would highly recommend it if you are planning a trip to central Scotland.
