Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Downtown

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6, plus airbed)

The Collector's House, located at 209 W. South Street, is a 1325 square-foot, 2-story masonry “shotgun row house” built in 1920, with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and original heart pine floors. (It is the right hand side of a duplex.)

Completely renovated in early 2013, this high-ceilinged, sun-filled house has been furnished to provide a relaxing, attractive oasis to guests, with all the comforts of home.

The Collector's House is decorated with many unusual objects from the quirky and eclectic collections of the owner's father, a true Renaissance man and self-professed 'Master Pack Rat.' (You can't take it all with you, but you CAN leave it to your children...)

The Collector's House has beds for 6 and an additional inflatable airbed which can be set up in the dining room or living room.

Although children are permitted as guests at The Collector's House, the home is NOT recommended for toddlers or pre-school-age children. Because there are many fragile pieces of art and collectibles in the house within arms' reach, children should either be newborns or older children who are not inclined to touch everything they see!

About Owner/Property Manager

I am an enthusiastic traveler and have been booking my extended family’s vacations online for many years. Before each trip, I spend countless hours researching unique and comfortable hideaways for us to inhabit – in part because I am an online travel junkie, but mostly because I believe that the quality of the accommodations is a huge contributor to the success of any vacation. It's so much easier exploring new worlds when one's family has a comfortable place to sleep, bathe, decompress, and plan the next day's adventures.

And even more than I love exploring other parts of the planet, I love introducing and sharing Frederick (my part of the planet since 1974) with others. I knew

from day one that Frederick County had a very special charm. To me, it has only gotten more charming (and considerably more diverse) in the past 39 years.

Presently, Frederick has no downtown hotel and just two popular downtown B&B’s. I was surprised to discover that there is a dearth of short-term furnished properties or vacation homes available to rent in the downtown area – a huge

omission, from my perspective, because Frederick City and Frederick County are wonderful places for extended visits.

At a crossroads in my life, I decided that something needed to be done about this.

Thus the birth of Frederick Vacation Rentals

- Attend the Great Frederick Fair in September and Frederick's two Oktoberfests in - you guessed it - October!

- Tour the Delaplaine Art Museum and Frederick's many ecclectic art galleries.

- Hear some live music at the Frederick Coffee House, Cafe Nola, Brewer's Alley, The Blueside Tavern,, Firestones, Cellar Door, Cafe 611, to name just a few of many venues.

- Check out the Children's Museum at Rose Hill Manor, the Taney House, the Frederick Historical Society, the Hessian Barracks.

A great home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Traveled from Wisconsin with another couple and the four of us shared the comfort of a perfect home base for participating in a friend's wedding and sightseeing in the area. Plenty of space for two couples to spread out and relax. Wonderfully appointed kitchen. We are all collectors/packrats ourselves, so we gained much enjoyment from examining all of the owner's late father's treasures that are on display in the home. The home is in a convenient location close to everything. Only negative was the street which was busy at times, but we are all country bumpkins unaccustomed to any traffic noise. Everything was clean, we lacked for nothing. Frederick keeps growing in its vibrancy of great restaurants, history and culture and a great place to settle in an easy drive for day trips to Gettysburg, Baltimore, Washington DC, etc. We hope to return and highly recommend these accommodations. We've now stayed in two of the three homes Nancy owns and maybe next visit we'll try her third!

Wonderful location for all things Frederick

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location in downtown Frederick! We could not have asked for anything more inside this beautifully restored row house - clean and well appointed dining and living rooms, a kitchen stocked with all the pots and pans and cutlery needed to cook our meals and thoughtfully decorated bedroom and bath linens aplenty. Owner was very attentive and flexible with our reservation - a truly hospitable host.

We especially appreciated the well fenced off street parking pad in the alley and the lovely garden path and leafy pergola leading to the back entrance. We will be back for another visit and would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to get away from DC to take a long weekend in Frederick.

Good Location

  • 4 of 5

The area the house is in has some nice looking homes and some less so. Once in the house it had everything a family could need. A living room and dining area to hang out and visit, good laundry facilities, and a nice little garden out back. All of the bedrooms are upstairs and two of the bedrooms share a bathroom. I liked the location because you could easily walk to the main area of downtown. There was plenty to drink in the fridge, for a small charge. They did give us a complementary bottle of champagne, which was nice. It is a good location for Civil War Tourism. We would stay here again.

Very convenient to downtown Frederick. Lovely old town-house, well appointed kitchen, with pretty back garden & off-street parking. In up-and-coming neighborhood.

Fun in Frederick, Rain, SNOW or Shine!!

  • 5 of 5

The Collector's House exceeded our expectations when staying during the epic snowstorm of 2016!! This is a top notch accommodation in Frederick. We had stayed in its sister property next door previously so we were sure it would be just as nice. We were right! The house is welcoming and well apportioned as the owner has thought of everything you might need. The welcome champagne was a welcome treat as well!! Everyone loved the place and commented that the beds and linens were extremely comfortable and they loved the water pressure and shower heads in the showers! It is an easy and safe walk to the charming downtown area of Frederick which has plenty of restaurant choices and shops and its right down the road from Hood College. We will be back again for sure!! As a side note, we were snowed in with 30" of snow which is unlikely ever to happen again, but this was one of the best storm accommodations in Frederick! It is on a main street that was plowed throughout the storm and close to the downtown parking garages where we decided it would be smart to park. Unlike others who were literally buried in, we were able to get out and get home on the day we planned. I recommend this place rain, snow or shine!!!
