Great location with lots of room

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location across the road from a canal and only a 10 minute easy tram ride from the railroad station. Big windows look out on a nice view in the heart of Amsterdam and yet very quiet bedrooms in back. Close to historic sites, shopping, restaurants, canal tours and many, many other places one can easily walk to.

We were impressed that it is so large and yet is on the 1st floor just a few steps up from the entry.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Thomas met us at the apartment, which is centrally located. Even though the location is central once inside we were in our own little world and it was quiet.

The apartment is extremely spacious and has a fully equipped kitchen with all the utensils that you need if you were going to cook a full meal. We got as far as a full English breakfast.

The apartment is tastefully furnished and the beds were so comfortable.

Thank you Thomas for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Will definitely recommend to friends

Couldn't ask for more! Roomy, comfortable, and location perfect

  • 5 of 5

Four of us spent several days in this 2 level flat/apartment and it was the perfect location with everything we needed. We've been to Amsterdam several times and happened to be traveling with a native Amsterdamer (94 years young). He exclaimed when we walked through the door, "Wow - how did you find this place? It's so big!" After I gave him a quick tutorial on the wonders of "internet", we settled in for a very comfortable and memorable visit to his hometown.

Re: The listing - The pictures are accurate, although what you can't see is the lovely canal view from the living room. There is no outside "deck", but the windows open up to the Rokin canal and streetcar below. This makes the living room feel like a deck and the breeze was heaven when it was hot. We spent lovely evenings with a glass of wine watching the canal boats park, listening to the chatter of the city below, and enjoying the view. Great place for seniors or kids. Bedrooms are really quiet and beds comfy.

Some highlights:

1. Communication with Thomas was easy and efficient. He was great about everything and was flexible in allowing us to drop our bags in the hallway a little early.

2. Don't want to eat out EVERY meal? The kitchen was ideal to have breakfast and store wine, snacks, and other goodies. Fully stocked if you want to cook. Espresso machine and dishwasher.

3. First floor bedroom is - frankly - huge for Amsterdam. Lots of space to put your luggage. Closets huge too. Some steps from the sidewalk to the first floor, but there are hand rails.

4. Upper bedroom is also large with it's own toilet, bath, and shower. Washing machine (which was sorely needed given our long trip before Amsterdam).

5. Location is amazing. Period.

6. Transportation is easy. We rode the train to the central station but didn't want to schlep big luggage so took Uber. But, you can take streetcars 4, 16, 24 to SPUI and it is literally right across/diagonal from the stop.

7. Shopping! You are literally 1 block from the Kalverstraat (Shopping district that runs several blocks with many stores, souvenir shops, and groceries).

8. Canal tours originate across the street. Touristy/kid things nearby too: Wax museum, etc. Also, flower market is within walking distance.

Note: The building is old, floors concrete, and there is quite a bit of the owner's stuff around on all levels, so expect a livable place and not luxury.

To sum it up, I can't say enough about this place. Hope to go back soon

Great experience with this VRBO rental

  • 4 of 5

Large property in excellent location....even though on busy main street, the bedrooms are on the back so very quiet for sleeping. Each bedroom has own bathroom. Beds very comfy. Excellent communication with Thomas from the time of booking property. He was there to meet us and was able to help us out with advice re supermarkets etc. We did not cook (only breakfast) but apt. well equipped if you wish to cook. Coffee was provided ...and was much appreciated. Would recommend this property

Very Large and comfortable place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is in a central location but is quiet and you don't get disturbed. There's lots of space and an outside area so it was nice to relax at the apartment after being out all day. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay in Amsterdam.

Great location with fantastic views of the canal

  • 4 of 5

This apartment is wonderful. It is older and has some clutter from the owner but has lots of charm, is huge, very central, the windows In front open so that you basically have balcony views of the canal and great people watching. The beds are comfortable. The pots are older but adequate. We felt very at home. We were able to walk to all the sights and the train station.
