About the property

Homey 2 bedroom 2 bath townhome with mountain views sleeps 6

Quiet townhome located 10 minutes from Durango and 10 minutes from Purgatory Resort. It is five minutes from Trimble Hot Springs.

The townhome is centrally located for you to branch out and explore all of the activities and beauty of Southwestern Colorado. It backs on the National Forest, and you can enjoy the red tail hawks soaring on air currents, deer grazing on the hillside and elk gathered in the valley. You might even catch sight of a bear.

From the upstairs balcony you can watch the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad pass on its route between Durango and Silverton.

The townhome is great for two couples traveling together or a family with kids. The upstairs and downstairs bedrooms each have a queen bed and ensuite full baths. There is a futon in the living room that sleeps two as well.

The downstairs bedroom has a patio looking out at a tiered rock garden.

Come and enjoy Durango with its rafting, biking, skiing, snow boarding, horseback riding, kayaking, hiking and a nearby casino on the Southern Ute Reservation.

Durango has many fine restaurants featuring a wide variety of cuisines for your dining pleasure, or cook for yourself in the fully equipped townhome kitchen.

Music in the Mountains features world renowned classical music concerts at Purgatory Resort from June16-August 24th. If you wish to enjoy the music from the mountain side you can take a picnic, and sit outside and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Purgatory Resort is just minutes away and offers great skiing as well as various summer activities.

Car: necessary

Mesa Verde and Silverton are two of my favorite day trips. Mesa Verde National Park is about an hour away and features the ruins of the ancient Anasazi people. Silverton is an old mining town and is about an hour and a half away (depending on road conditions).

The home is immaculately clean and very well equipped. Perfect for two couples or a family since there is plenty of room to relax, eat in and enjoy the back patio. Close by to downtown and the Purgatory Ski Area.

Peaceful and relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

The townhome was perfect for our family of four. It had everything we needed. The two story gave our family the the privacy each one wanted. The girls went upstairs to be by themselves while my husband and I sat in the backyard watching the wilderness and having the peace we were looking for. The location is s perfect distance for day travels. Thank you sharing your home with us!

Almost Everything One Could Ask For

  • 5 of 5

This two-bedroom townhome is easily accessible about ten minutes north of Durango on Hwy 550. The owner is a world traveler and has lovingly decorated her home with artifacts from her travels. The home is exceedingly clean, well maintained and comfortable with great beds. Although there is no mention of bureaus at the website, there is plenty of bureau and closet space.

The tiny kitchen (two people were a crowd) is equipped with nearly everything one might need including enough plates and cups for a good-size party. My only change would be to leave a little cupboard space for groceries or else eat take-out (try PJ’s Gourmet Market on Hwy. 550 about five minutes to the south) . We doubled up the Tupperware (not pictured) on two shelves of a cupboard and used that space and the top and inside of the refrigerator for our groceries.

There is no AC which was a bit surprising, but the temp inside was comfortable with daytime, outside temps in the 80s and outside temps in the evening falling into the 50s. We slept upstairs with the door to the balcony open. For those that might want a bit more, there is a fan in the closet. There are also ceiling fans throughout the home.

As there were no clocks in the home except in the kitchen, we were initially concerned about how we would wake up in time to take the early train tour to Silverton. We had cell phones but had never used the alarm feature. In the end we were able to set them and they worked fine. If one doesn’t have a cell phone and the knowledge to use the alarm feature, a small alarm clock is recommended.

No need to go elsewhere for brochures of things to do in the area; the owner has made a large selection available in the dining area. The train trip to Silverton was AWESOME in places but occasionally boring and long. There just aren’t words adequate to describe the beauty. Think twice about driving to Silverton if you are faint of heart. It is slooooow because of steep and very winding curves and appears treacherous in places. If the roads are icy, don’t even consider it.
