3+ Bedroom, 3 Bath Home Over Looking Little Sodus Bay
Mark & Gail Brockman
About Mark & Gail Brockman
West Bay has been in our family for 4 generations. What started as a one room bayside retreat has grown over the years to combine the rustic charm of the original cottage with the modern amenities which make living here comfortable. 'Sant Cottage' as it was originally known has been the summer retreat for one of Fair Haven's founding families. Generations of the Sant family still live around Little Sodus Bay. West Bay was built for Raymond S. Sant, one of the most influential figures in the development of Upstate New York. Ray Sant was a soldier and educator whose foresight converted rural New York's one room school system into the the centralized school system that exists today. Ray Sant's interest in Fair Haven and Sterling lead him to chronicle its' development in several books tracing the history of families and businesses in the area. West Bay is where he found his inspiration.

Here for Dirt week!
We rented this house because it was 20 minutes away from the speedway! Great location. Owners of house are very friendly and very accommodating! We got there the first night and it was COLD... Took the house a little bit to heat up, being October, but once it did it was PERFECT! They usually don't have people stay in the fall so we understood completely. Right on the lake, so beautiful. Nice to wake up to geese, ducks and swans swimming right at the dock. Very clean and LOTS of places to sleep. 3 bathrooms were nice since we had 9-10 people. Made our stay very easy! Thank you and we will rent again!!!
So glad you had a great stay. Thanks for leaving the place in good shape
Beautiful spot on a beautiful little bay
A terrific stay. Everything was as advertised and it exceeded my expectations as far as roominess and amenities. I was hoping to be able to dock my little boat and was glad to find a REAL durable, permanent dock with 2 sets of working electrical outlets on the dock posts. I caught a ton of largemouth bass and northern pike. Nice fire pit in the evenings. Rain or shine (and we got both) we were comfortable and spacious indoors as well as out. I would have no reservations about booking here again.
So glad you had an enjoyable stay! Happy the fish were biting. Come back again soon.
Great location and property
This property is exactly as advertised. Beautiful deck and view. I would highly recommend it. The town of Fair Haven was just great as well.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Fair Haven seems to becoming an interesting place for music and food
Good location and roomy
Second year renting and injoyed the stay mark is easy to deal with
Favorite Vacation Rental
This is our third time renting this cottage. We always enjoy your stay here. Cottage has great access to the water in a quiet neighborhood on the cove. Just a short drive to town and the Westend. Will rent again
Glad you enjoyed your stay!
The property was not what we expected. Half the place is a hundred year old camp. The bathroom and bedrooms in that area have no A.C. The basement bath was so small you could hardly use it and the beds down there felt wet the humidity was so high. The musty moldy smell through out the entire property was so strong you could taste it the entire time you were inside the building. Sneezing fits were common. One bedroom and one bath were okay. The owner asked me how it went and I told him all these things. He said he was going to try to get the smell out.
The dehumidifier in the basement had not been working for a month prior to the stay. I should have checked on the house and opened it up prior to their arrival. I have deodorised and cleaned the house from top to bottom. This was the first negative response since we started renting the house in 2013. Also, a couple who was with the group that complained have booked the place for June 2020.
Fair Haven is a step back to a more peaceful time. Enjoy boating, water skiing, fishing or whatever water activity moves you, or just relax on the dock by the bay. Fair Haven offers small town hospitality enjoyed by visitors year after year. Located on the Seaway Trail, between Rochester and Syracuse, Fair Haven has year round seasonal activities for everyone.
