Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This home is more than what we could have expected. We loved that each room had its own bathroom and how cozy everything was. I loved that we also got to bring our furry child along too. It was truly a home away from home that I would definitely rent every time we vacation in North Carolina.

beautiful location, great for family groups

  • 4 of 5

The house was easy to find. Everything was as described. It was wonderful to have three floors to spread out. Also nice to have so many bathrooms. The upstairs and downstairs rooms are great for a family with kids to all stay together. There are woods to play in out back and a nice deck. We would stay again in the future.

Great location. Wonderful accomodations. Unbeatable price - Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I rent a cabin each year for New Years Eve and this was the 2016-2017 cabin. We tend to have trouble meeting all of our requirements, wallet friendly, dog friendly, 4 bedrooms, etc., but this cabin exceeded expectations! The cabin is in a great location, a 20 minute walk from the house to the New River, a few neighbors, but otherwise, quite secluded and quiet. The photos of the property do not do it justice. It is beautiful and well taken care of. 4 distinct bedrooms - unlike other cabins that state they have 4 rooms, but include a pull out couch or trundle in the count. We stayed for 2 days and 3 nights but definitely had enough room to stay longer. The coffee table expanded and was great for sitting around and playing card and board games! If we had more time, we probably would have enjoyed the close proximity to Jefferson & West Jefferson.

Things to consider/Suggestions/FYIs:

-MUST bring your own toilet paper, trash bags, and cleaning supplies (dish soap) to the cabin. I read through the documentation the rental agency sent to me before my stay and these two points were buried a bit in the other "what to bring" items. Luckily, I reread all rental documentation prior to our arrival and stopped for these items at the last minute. I'm happy to bring these supplies, but I feel these should be in bold at the top of that list!!!

-Full grocery stores are at least a 30 minute drive.

-All services covered by the "cleaning fees" are not clearly outlined/easy to find. (Do we have to do the laundry? Do we need to sweep/mop/vacuum? etc.) We scoured the house for check out directions, but couldn't find a thing. Luckily the staff at the rental management agency answered my e-mail within 12 hours and we were well prepared for our departure.

-Water pressure in the house gets worse as you go up. Basement water pressure was great. Mid-level water pressure was decent. Second-story water pressure was non-existent. Lots of bathrooms to choose from so it wasn't a problem, even with a larger group.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY! Just a short (2-4) drive from Raleigh, Winston Salem, or Charlotte and definitely worth it!

The cabin was beautifully laid out and very clean.

  • 4 of 5

Our overall experience was wonderful. The area is beautiful. Grayson Highlands State Park is a must see. The cabin accomodated all eleven of us very nicely for a week's stay. Helpful tips I would suggest is an instruction guide for FAQ for the cabin. Stock the bathroom with one roll of toilet paper and a few more kitchen accessories (i.e. Blender, mixer, kitchen cleaner, etc.). Also, there is no cell service so providing wifi would be helpful or landline phone service for those unforeseen emergency situations.

Perfect place for our hiking adventures

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 8 people stay in this cabin for three nights while we did some serious hiking in the area. It was close enough to Grayson Highlands State Park to make it an easy choice for our group. The communication with the rental agency was awesome. We got great advice on the area and local restaurants etc... With 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms we had more than enough space. If we were to hike this area again, this would be our first choice for lodging. Couldn't have been better.

Secluded and peaceful.

  • 4 of 5

The property was very nice, spacious, and well maintained. My only suggestion would be to let visitors know that cell reception is spotty or non-existent, depending on your cell phone provider. The house also had an issue with carpenter ants while we were there. It appears they treated the house for the problem as most of them were dying, but we woke up on the second day to find 50+ dead ants on the sink of the master bathroom. It is to be expected that nature occasionally finds its way inside, but we found this was a bit much, and without cell reception, we were unable to contact anyone about the situation. Other than that, we didn't have any issues, and enjoyed the tranquility.
