This cozy beach home on the sandy shores of Cape Meares invites large families with children and dogs to enjoy its fabulous views of the Pacific from the wrap-around deck and private hot tub, and its quiet location close to the beach.
Guests may walk a couple of blocks to the beach of this little town. It's just an eight-mile drive to the nearest town with a grocery store, shops, and dining - in this case, Tillamook - and eight miles to Cape Meares State Park for hikes to the Cape Meares Lighthouse.
This split-level house has two floors acting almost as their own separate units. This makes it very easy for two families traveling together or for those who may struggle with mobility to enjoy all the perks of home together and apart!
The entire home shares entertainment amenities, including WiFi, cable, a DVD player, and a washer/dryer.
The upper level is an open floor plan where the main living space is located. There's a wood stove to gather about while a meal is prepared in the full-service kitchen. Up to eight guests may dine at the indoor dining table with an additional leaf, and two more can eat at the breakfast bar.
Downstairs is a den with a second TV and a kitchenette that includes a stovetop burner, a fridge, and a microwave.
Guests can enjoy a wrap-around deck on both levels. The private hot tub is on the upper level for great views.
Up to 10 guests total can sleep in this comfortable home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Pets may join for an additional nightly fee. The upper level has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other with two twin beds. Both of these rooms include access to the deck and share a bathroom.
Downstairs is a third bedroom with a queen bed and a bathroom. Two sofas upstairs and downstairs can be pulled out into sleepers for additional accommodations.
Families traveling to the coast to crab, clam, and sea kayak in Tillamook Bay, hike Cape Meares State Park, or pay a visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory will adore staying in this charming beach house on the Northern Oregon Coast.
This place was great. The beach there in Cape Meares is wonderful, and the view out the dining room windows is gorgeous. The hot tub is very nice, and the place is spacious enough for a family or group of friends. We had no cell service in the house, but the wifi works great!
The house is roomy. It is laid out well. The 2 separate living spaces are perfect for multiple families to have their own space. The hot tub is exquisite!!!
Cape Meares is a beautiful community, where your kids and dogs can walk the streets without fear. There are no highways to worry about. At low tide, the beach is wonderful (lots of slippery rocks otherwise!) There is a lake and lots of trails and dirt roads to wander on, if you are so inclined.
Let me start with the nice things about the house.
1) The view is amazing. It is a short 2 block walk to the beach.
2) The house is laid out well. Plenty of room for 2 families.
3) They allow dogs, so our friends could come and not have to board their dog.
4) The upstairs beds are fairly comfortable.
5) The hot tub is amazing! It works well and is really comfortable!
Now the bad things.
1) The TVs down stairs are ancient. My daughter had to stick her finger into a hole to make it come on because the remote didn't have batteries. There are 3 dead TVs just sitting down there. I know the old TVs are heavy, but have someone haul them off!
2) The bed downstairs is cheap and very uncomfortable. It's the kind of mattress you get for $200 on sale. Not much better than sleeping on the floor!
3) The coffee pot took an hour to make 1 pot of coffee (I timed it after the first pot "seemed" to take a while)
4) It was cold and the blankets on the beds are old and threadbare, so if you go in the winter, bring extra covers!
If they get these few things fixed, it will be amazing!
We always head to the coast in Winter to escape the cold and dark days.
Cape Meares is a great place for kids and dogs, very safe and very quiet!
We would stay there again. We would just plan to bring our own stuff. I know that is not always an option for visitors
This house is just far enough away from larger communities that we almost felt that we had our own private beach. View of the ocean from the house is great. Enjoyed great view of the sunset and watching the breakers on the beach, complete with the sound of the waves rolling in.
The most exciting was waking up one morning with a herd of elk almost in our front yard.
This is an older house in need of a little updating, but the spaciousness and view are nice.
