Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8

Our Venice Island home is less than 2 blocks from the beach, has been an off-season short term rental for the past 10 years and was the only gold 5 star rated island home amongst approximately 20 others listed with the prior rental company. The TLC is evident from the moment you arrive. Lush landscaping greets you as you pull in the driveway and the warm feeling of home continues as you walk through the front door. The sunken living room is well furnished with that tropical feel of Tommy Bahama tables, comfy papasan chairs, couch and a large TV for those quiet evenings at home. The kitchen is equipped with virtually everything you'll need to whip up that gourmet dinner which you can enjoy in your dining room or poolside in your private lanai. Three bedrooms await in the split plan layout. Located on one side of the house is the master suite which is comprised of a private water closet/shower/bath, a walk-in closet and a large vanity/sink area to prep for those evenings out or to just retire to your king size bed. On the opposite side of the house are two large bright bedrooms with a shared full bath in between. Each bedroom has a queen size bed, ceiling fans overhead and plenty of storage.

Enjoy Swimming? Spend your days at your own private heated pool or stroll a block and a half away to your own private beach - the choice is yours! Enjoy biking? Venice is full of great trails and paths that can take you all the way to Sarasota or if you like an easier, shorter pace then just amble your way around the island. Enjoy walking? You can go south to Sharky's - one of the best Tiki Beach Bars in Florida - and enjoy that afternoon cocktail or walk north into town for lunch or that evening meal at one of the many restaurants. So many choices and so little time.

Caution: If you are not familiar with Venice, be sure you understand the difference between a Vacation Home on Venice Island and homes located off the Island of Venice that claim to be close to beaches and downtown Venice.

Enjoy your search and your vacation!

About John and/or Chris Wilson

We purchased this home in 2008 and after extensive renovations we spent 9 years enjoying this house as our winter Vacation Home. Like so many others, we totally fell in love with the Island of Venice and it's topical lifestyle. Consequently, we moved here permanently two years ago.

Why John and/or Chris Wilson chose Venice

Prior to buying any home, we spent several vacations driving from Tampa down to Naples trying to pick the "perfect" spot to purchase our winter getaway. Needless to say, of all the Gulf locations we researched, we kept returning to this small, quaint town that took our hearts away.

What makes this house unique

Venice has received several accolades in the last several years. In the last two years alone it's received -

3rd Happiest City in America, 16th Most Affordable Small Sunny Town (266 sunny days), 4th Best Town to Live in Florida, 10th safest Mid-size City, 2nd Most Affordable West Coast Beach, Southern Living Magazine's Best Place to Retire, 11th Best Small Town to Visit in Florida, 21st Best Place to Live in U.S, Third Healthiest Region in Florida, 2nd Best Place in Florida to Retire, Expedia's Most Extraordinary Beaches in the World

We stayed in this house last year and loved staying here even more again this year. Everything was perfect, from the pool to the 2 minute drive to the beach. We ate at Sharky's a few times and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. We love Venice and will definitely be back here again next summer.

***** Five stars for this lovely amazing rental.**

  • 5 of 5

I have only 3 words for you if you’re considering this rental property….GO FOR IT!!!

I found John and Chris Wilson's rental home quite by accident but it was the best thing that happened for me. I wanted to rent a place down south in beautiful Venice,Florida for 2 months to “break the back” of winter up north. It worked and it was an amazing stay in many ways.

The house itself/ the location in Venice/ the price/the pool/the very nearby beach and last but not least the owners made it all just right! The house is easy to manage/ immaculate/ comfortable/ attractive and left me with nothing to do but sit back for a relaxed and fun stay. The master bedroom is airy and large. The bed is very nice indeed. The guest rooms are sweet and all one needs. I had 6 people stay as well as just me and in all cases-it was safe and very comfortable. All of the doors in the house open up to the lovely lanai and sun patio and the heated pool was perfect and pristine and it was taken care of every week.

The living room is open and very large, allowing for a great space for TV – which is huge- entertaining - reading quietly or whatever you want. The AC/ heat works flawlessly. The neighborhood is very quiet yet completely convenient to everything in Venice.

The association beach- just a block and ½ away- is awesome and expansive. The sunsets awe inspiring.

I could go on and on.

Last I want to thank John and Chris Wilson who did EVERYTHING to make their house available to me. They took care of all the contracts and paperwork easily. They made sure I was happy with the house and had answered all of my questions. They made themselves available at all times yet NEVER got in the way or were intrusive. Again, I could go on and on.

If you want just the right place for 1 or6 people in Venice- GO FOR IT!!!

Great and accommodating owners! Went above and beyond for our family. Well equipped kitchen along with many extras. Family friendly house plan, beautiful pool, easy walk to an amazing beach. Found our share of shark teeth. Made our way to Sharky’s several times. Thank you!

Venice Beach

Venice’s largest claim to fame is being the “Shark’s Tooth Capital of the World” and brings people from all over the world to “pan” for shark’s teeth. There is even a Shark’s Tooth Festival held every Spring where locals come from around the state to showcase their collections. It’s not uncommon to see people walking up and down the beach with sand sifters looking for the fossilized remains of millions of sharks teeth.

The Venice area is also rich in Circus history and well known for its association with the Ringling Barnum and Bailey Circus. You can easily spend a full day at the Sarasota Ringling Museum and relive all those childhood memories. If you're more of an adventurer - why not take some flying Trapeze lessons at the Trapeze Academy located right on the island.

If golf is your game, than you have the opportunity to try at LEAST 6 golf courses within a 20 minute drive. If tennis/basketball/pickle ball or shuffleboard peak your interest - you're only a few blocks from the courts.

Like biking??? Try the Legacy Trail which runs from Venice to Sarasota along an old Railroad corridor. The bike trail runs alongside the Venetian Waterway Parkway and then connects to the historic Venice Train Station before it continues through Oscar Scherer State Park on its way to Sarasota. The trail is popular with bikers, joggers, walkers, and rollerbladers.
