Located on the shores of historic St. George Island (est.1638) in southern Maryland (no Chesapeake Bay Bridge to cross!), this 6,500 sq. ft. custom-built home is situated on 7 wooded acres with expansive views of the Potomac River – the perfect retreat for multi-family reunions/vacations, and business conferences.
While enjoying your morning coffee, watch the watermen in their Chesapeake Bay wooden work-boats as they bring in their catch of Maryland blue crabs or oysters, just off shore. Have the desire to also be on the water? Bring your boat! Boat lift at the end of your pier is set for approximately 21 ft boat, weighing less than 7,000 lbs.
Stroll up and down your own private sandy beach (almost 2 football fields long) - ideal for collecting lots of sea glass, sun-bathing, swimming, tubing (2 provided), floating (many floats provided), kayaking (2 provided), picnicking (picnic table for 8 on your private pier), and long romantic walks.
Later, walk onto your private pier for some fishing and crabbing (rods & traps provided). Later in the day, you may want to feast on your catch of crabs (crab steamer provided), perch, spot, and/or flounder on the waterfront porch that seats 20. This is when you’ll see many of the birds that inhabit St. George Island: Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Brown Pelicans, Swans, Ospreys (a pair are nesting right off shore), Hummingbirds, Bluebirds, Great Egrets, Barn Owls, Mallards, and Loons. Almost 6 acres of the estate is wooded and home to fox, deer, chipmunks, rabbits, and turtles.
To work off some of your scrumptious meal, there are tons of outdoor games (cornhole, bocce, badminton, volleyball, basketball, etc.) to play (all provided). Jump on your bike (4 provided) if you care to explore the rest of St. George Island.
Want to get off the island for a while? Jump in your car and visit historic St. Mary's City St. (the original capital of Maryland and host of the River Concert Series), Sotterley Plantation, Calvert Marine Museum, five (5) lighthouses, historic barns, Amish communities, Maryland International Raceway, cruise to historic Smith Island, golf courses, deep sea fishing tours, as well as other historical sites, museums, movies, restaurants, shopping, etc. that southern Maryland has to offer. Want to go a bit further? Washington DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore are all about 2 hours away. You’ll find a brochure display in the laundry room, with over 40 destinations for you to pick from.
Once you’re back on the island, you’ll be there just in time to enjoy the most spectacular sunset you can imagine. After dark, light a fire in the fire pit (wood provided), located on the upper beach (yes, you have 2 beaches!) and roast marshmallows (skewers provided) or, make them into smores. When it’s completely dark you’ll see an astonishing number of stars. Spend hours star gazing with the naked eye or binoculars (3 provided). Before putting your head on your pillow, listen to the sound of the waves gently breaking on the sandy beach. If you should wake up, chances are you’ll see the moon and its light reflecting off the river.
After you read the reviews other vacationers have posted on this site regarding their stay on St. George Island, we hope you'll come visit with us. Once you've slept on an island you’ll never be quite the same!

I'm surrounded by my 5 amazing grandchildren - the joy of my life. All children are special to me and for that reason, I've written a series of children's illustrated books titled Hang On to Jesus! Adventures. It is my hope that these books will provide children and their parents with a Christian foundation.
This is our third year spending our retreat weekend here and just thinking about it brings back waves of peace and fondness. The sunset, the water, the family style layout, the spacious rooms with darling character...the list goes on and on. We love this place and the seclusion it offers. Everything is SO clean and our host Rick goes ABOVE and BEYOND the call of service. Down to the very detail he served us so well and is always a pleasure to work with. I wish I could live there. Really. :)
It's impossible to overstate how thoroughly prepared this property is to anticipate your every need. If the sunset views, private beach, immaculate yard, and spacious deck don't impress you, the beautiful indoor spaces, spectacular kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms will. This was our group's second stay at this luxurious retreat and we can't wait to come again. Rick has thoughtfully stocked everything from bug spray to popcorn makers, from baby furniture to crab pots. We loved kayaking, fishing off the dock, playing in the yard, and sitting around the firepit each night. Upgraded televisions in the bedrooms and a formal dining room set this special place apart from other rental homes. Perhaps rivaling the amenities and spaces, though, is Rick's willingness to help, even at the last minute. Our internet went out after the meter man came and said that the power would go out for a moment. Even though it was certainly not his fault and couldn't have been anticipated, Rick came out within minutes to fix it for us and was similarly attentive to any other requests we had. We would whole-heartedly recommend this location for a relaxing, worry-free vacation you will remember for years to come.
Our family of 17 ranging in age from 7 to 76 just returned from the most amazing week at Rick's beautiful home. This house is equipped with every kitchen utensil you could imagine (we played "guess what this is used for" one night), high end cookware, enough plates and glassware for your entire party, beach towels, bath towels, sheets...simply everything!! The beauty of the location cannot be adequately described in a brief review. The sunsets are magnificent, but the sun shimmering on the water late afternoon is equally breathtaking. Our children spent from morning till night outside...fishing, crabbing, searching for sea glass, searching for turtles...watching the amazing birds and many butterflies and of course, swimming and floating. For a family that has only ever vacationed at the ocean, this was a first for us and boy are we happy we tried something new. What makes this house even more wonderful is the amazing owner, Rick, who goes out of his way to make sure your stay is wonderful. While I'm sad the week had to come to an end, I'm happy to say we are all relaxed, refreshed and blessed with amazing memories.
Our group of four families, 3 generations ranging from 5 years old to 85 years old had a great time at this place. The house is large and well maintained, and fit our group comfortably. It was well equipped with everything, even spices for cooking, soaps, paper towel, everything. Each room also has clean towel, and plenty of beach towels outside. The shed has a lot of things for water activities, tubes, floating, fishing, crabbing equipment. Rick was a great host, and reached out before and during the trip to ensure we have everything we needed. The view on the water is beautiful. The kids enjoyed the water a lot, jumping into the bay multiple times a day. I highly recommend this house!
Our 4 generational family, consisting of 13 adults and 6 children, vacation every year together for the past 15 years. We've been to different beaches in New Jersey, Maryland, and Outer Banks. We all agree that this trip ranks up there as one of the BEST vacations we've had. No stress, beautiful setting, well equipped house...it was seriously perfect. Make sure you read all that is provided for you...this house literally has it ALL. We were able to pack so much lighter!
We spent so much time outside playing yard games, relaxing on the dock, kayaking and just floating in the water. Cooking for a large family was a breeze thanks to the huge kitchen and all the amenities. The 40 cup coffee maker was amazing! We enjoyed playing card games inside one night while it stormed outside.
Thank you Rick for your hospitality. You made us feel so welcome and at home. We will be back next year for sure!!!!
