Island Estate - 7 acres w/ 600 foot Private Sandy Beach & Pier on Potomac River

Bedrooms 7
Separate WCs2
Space 6,500 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

7 Bedrooms, 6 Baths (Sleeps up to 20)

Located on the shores of historic St. George Island (est.1638) in southern Maryland (no Chesapeake Bay Bridge to cross!), this 6,500 sq. ft. custom-built home is situated on 7 wooded acres with expansive views of the Potomac River – the perfect retreat for multi-family reunions/vacations, and business conferences.

While enjoying your morning coffee, watch the watermen in their Chesapeake Bay wooden work-boats as they bring in their catch of Maryland blue crabs or oysters, just off shore. Have the desire to also be on the water? Bring your boat! Boat lift at the end of your pier is set for approximately 21 ft boat, weighing less than 7,000 lbs.

Stroll up and down your own private sandy beach (almost 2 football fields long) - ideal for collecting lots of sea glass, sun-bathing, swimming, tubing (2 provided), floating (many floats provided), kayaking (2 provided), picnicking (picnic table for 8 on your private pier), and long romantic walks.

Later, walk onto your private pier for some fishing and crabbing (rods & traps provided). Later in the day, you may want to feast on your catch of crabs (crab steamer provided), perch, spot, and/or flounder on the waterfront porch that seats 20. This is when you’ll see many of the birds that inhabit St. George Island: Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Brown Pelicans, Swans, Ospreys (a pair are nesting right off shore), Hummingbirds, Bluebirds, Great Egrets, Barn Owls, Mallards, and Loons. Almost 6 acres of the estate is wooded and home to fox, deer, chipmunks, rabbits, and turtles.

To work off some of your scrumptious meal, there are tons of outdoor games (cornhole, bocce, badminton, volleyball, basketball, etc.) to play (all provided). Jump on your bike (4 provided) if you care to explore the rest of St. George Island.

Want to get off the island for a while? Jump in your car and visit historic St. Mary's City St. (the original capital of Maryland and host of the River Concert Series), Sotterley Plantation, Calvert Marine Museum, five (5) lighthouses, historic barns, Amish communities, Maryland International Raceway, cruise to historic Smith Island, golf courses, deep sea fishing tours, as well as other historical sites, museums, movies, restaurants, shopping, etc. that southern Maryland has to offer. Want to go a bit further? Washington DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore are all about 2 hours away. You’ll find a brochure display in the laundry room, with over 40 destinations for you to pick from.

Once you’re back on the island, you’ll be there just in time to enjoy the most spectacular sunset you can imagine. After dark, light a fire in the fire pit (wood provided), located on the upper beach (yes, you have 2 beaches!) and roast marshmallows (skewers provided) or, make them into smores. When it’s completely dark you’ll see an astonishing number of stars. Spend hours star gazing with the naked eye or binoculars (3 provided). Before putting your head on your pillow, listen to the sound of the waves gently breaking on the sandy beach. If you should wake up, chances are you’ll see the moon and its light reflecting off the river.

After you read the reviews other vacationers have posted on this site regarding their stay on St. George Island, we hope you'll come visit with us. Once you've slept on an island you’ll never be quite the same!

6 Star Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was perfect. I would rate 6 out of 5 stars if allowed. The house and its location were on point! Super welcoming home. Super Clean and Beautifully Decorated. Can't say enough about Rick. He has everything covered. He has left no detail behind. Instructions for everything and only a phone call away. The kitchen has everything you need (and things you didn't think you needed). The master bath is even stocked with first aid items, insect spray, sunblock Tylenol, etc....

We left with plans to come back next year!

Perfect and private setting for bonding time

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our stay was spectacular. The home is clean, fully stocked with anything you could possibly need (even extra cans on bug spray in case you forgot your own). Every kind of dish, pan, and kitchen need you may have. Towels very organized per bed, truly just perfect. You can tell whoever maintains this house has pride in what they do for their guests. You will not be disappointed. Kids (ages 7-15) had the weekend of their lives on the calm and safe water. Can't wait to come back again.

Peaceful & Relaxing Family Reunion Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Having family in the Lusby, Lexington Park, & Cove Point Maryland area – this was a perfect spot for a Family Reunion. My Brother drove down from New York and we flew in from Missouri. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out.

We hosted a Blue Crab Feast on the outside Porch for our part of the Family Reunion. Rick was a huge help in getting us a point of contact for the crabs.

My suggestion, stop at the house first, get the Weis Market Saver Card then get your grocery for the week. Don’t forget your popcorn for the popcorn maker or the marshmallows for the campfire at night. This house has EVERYTHING you could need or want. If you can’t locate it – there is binder with all information.

If you don’t feel like cooking – Chief’s is a local hangout inside of WJ Dent & Sons Grocery store.

What we loved about the house was there was plenty for everyone to do. We held Corn Hole & Lawn Golf tournaments. We fished and crabbed off the dock. Kayak around the point. We ate breakfast on the dock watching the Bald Eagles, lounge in the chairs listening to the waves & walked the beach. Held campfires at night. On the rainy days – we played games or just sat under the cover porch visiting and listening to it rain.

Owner Rick provides for every detail in the most generous way, setting up the great time ahead! From sunsets to a carpet of stars, crabbing, tubing, swimming, fishing, sea glass hunting, s’mores and lots of laughter... it’s all so fun.

2018 Piney Point Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family loved this home. The house was absolutely gorgeous inside and out. No details were left out. There was so much thought given to detail. The kitchen was fully equipped, the shed had games for the yard or the water to include fishing poles. The home was tastefully decorated and welcoming. I loved viewing the water from the master bedroom or from the living room. There were so many options for relaxing inside or out by way of the roomy deck, the seating by the water, the pier, or the wrap around porch. Aside from all of that the grounds are beautiful. I described this as a little piece of heaven.

Another Amazing Week!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year staying at Rick's place and it was like coming home...wonderful! Rick's house is spotless and well-stocked..he has thought of everything! While the house is beautiful, the grounds are spectacular. The views of the water never cease to take my breath away. We enjoyed sipping coffee every morning under the tall pines while we watched the eagles and osprey overhead. During the day the kids and adults took turns taking out the kayaks, fishing, playing lawn games and just splashing in the water. There were also card games and bingo on the porch. Mid afternoon, you could see the schools of small fish swimming in the shimmering waters. It really doesn't get any better! If you are looking for a vacation spot where you can truly disconnect and enjoy peace, tranquility and family time in a beautiful setting, Rick's place is it!!
