Great cabin with great location!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect cabin for our family of 3. It was very clean and cozy. We loved the wood burning stove!

It’s located very close to the ski mountain and only 40 miles to Ruidoso. The neighbors were very quiet. We had a problem with the internet so we called the manager. She answered the first time we called, was very friendly, and fixed our problem in minutes. Our only complaint is having to drive back into town to drop the key off. A drop box closer to the property would be nice.

Overall we were very satisfied. We’ll definitely be back!

Georgetown, Texas

Basic “vintage” cabin, but no telephone, landline or cell reception, and really no TV.

  • 1 of 5

Dishonest listing which should be removed. Listing says telephone. There is no land line and no cellular reception. This can be a deal breaker for some and needs to be highlighted.

There is essentially no TV, just slow ROKU thru the internet connection. This means that IF you subscribe to Amazon, Netflix or other streaming channels you can get, on a clear day, “interrupted” reception, 30 seconds loading, 30 seconds playing, 30 seconds loading. I have Netflix and Amazon but didn’t have the patience to watch anything.

The basic cabin, while actually in Mayhill, not Cloudcroft, is actually quite adequate if you are just looking for a place to rest up between hikes.

the cabin sits between two large mobile homes , the view from the balcony looks right

It was ok.

  • 2 of 5

Inside was fine and fairly clean. The outside could definitely use a good cleaning. There were cobwebs all around the outside of the cabin and the grill was gross. The property needed a good raking and overall clean up. The picture showed a hammock, there was not one. The cabin is also quite close to two other properties. One was nice and quiet, the other had kids, dogs and chickens. Each morning the rooster crowed at sunrise and then about an hour later. Because the property is in a subdivision it is unclear where other property lines start and stop. We had hoped to go on hikes and explore the area, but there didn't seem anywhere to go other than just walking up and down the streets. Maps of trailheads or places to go would have been nice to have been left in the cabin for renters as well as a visitors guide for Cloudcroft and/or Ruidoso. Overall it was just ok. I would only recommend if all you want to do is sit in a cabin and nothing else. It is 8 miles from Cloudcroft. I would not recommend to friends and I will not be going back.

Poor from every perspective

  • 1 of 5

remote, surrounded by mobile homes, no cellular service, no television access, insufficient internet service making streaming and wi-fi calling very frustrating. Evolve and the local agent uncooperative.

Owner's Response: Tom, we're very sorry to hear your stay was not what you expected. We take feedback seriously and have shared your comments with the homeowner. It appears that you thought this property was another listing in the Evolve network. The local contact did their very best to address your concerns and attempted to relocate you. It is clearly noted in the listing that this cabin is located between two mobile homes, and we are sorry if this was a surprise upon arrival. Additionally, this cabin is equipped with a smart tv hooked to wifi. We regret if any of the sincere measures taken were not satisfactory to you. We are not able to find any record of contact with our team here at Evolve during your stay. We strive to provide the efficient solutions with every interaction, and our team would have been more than willing to assist if we were contacted. The local contact and homeowner take excellent care of this cabin, and we are confident future guests will have pleasant experiences here! Best, The Evolve Team
