One bedroom cottage with full kitchen, florida room and deck
About Peggy Binzel
Love urban life; also, love the isolated beach with amazing wildlife. Scotland is a welcome retreat from hectic city life.
Peggy Binzel purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Peggy Binzel chose Point Lookout
Scotland is a rare find. Rarely do you find an area that begins with beautiful forests and opens up onto fabulous beaches. Little traffic but only 2 hours from Washington or Baltimore. I discovered a jewel.

Cute little place.
Perfect place for a couple.
Peaceful and Charming
We loved the little cottage and had a great time staying there! We explored the region, visiting Port Lookout, Leonardtown, Piney Point, and St. Marys City in addition to the local beach here. Even the weather was perfect for our stay.
Brilliant quiet retreat
Lovely cottage, close to beaches and point lookout, and a short drive from St Mary’s and Solomon’s. Loved our stay!
Nice little space
I enjoyed our time. I didn’t do much research on the area and was surprised that we needed to drive a lot to see things, except the state park next door. Also didn’t realize the bay had jellyfish and that swimming at the beach wouldn’t happen. It was an area I had never been to, so I was able to learn about the history that occurred near by.
We are an "away" destination. The best groceries and the like are about 15 miles away. But there are some local things too, like saint Mary's City and Point Lookout State Park, plus kayaking and biking. We are also excited to be working on opening a new destination location that will include a 450 ft pier (Pier450) and restaurant very nearby our houses. As to the jellyfish, some years they are virtually none some years there are a few more. If they are around, it's usually late in summer. It just depends on the amount of rainfall we have had. Jellyfish like dry weather and high salinity. Very few guests had trouble with jellyfish this year but we agree it would be great if there were none at all!
We appreciate the kind comments, too!
Very good experience
We love the location. Glad we were able to bring our dogs. The beach was fantastic. Property manager responds right away and she was very flexible.
Almost everything you need during your stay, I will say just have more pillows and blankets for the 3rd guess.
Ultimate in Peace & Quiet
It truly is "the wee one." Small, nothing fancy, but adequate for a couples getaway. While not waterfront, there are views of the Chesapeake Bay both from the front room and the deck. On July 4, we were able to see amazing fireworks right from the dock across the street! Also a great place to watch a sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay and nesting osprey and other birds. (And nearby Kellam's has awesome steamed crabs!)
Wooded and beach together, this remote location on the Chesapeake Bay is near the city but a world away. A short bike ride from Pt. Lookout State Park but still its own private beach community. A great escape to relax, enjoy the beauty of the Bay, boat, fish swim or read a book on the beach,
