'The Main Street Guest House' is a charming vacation rental home located right in the center of Historic Main Street in St. Charles, Missouri, the site of Missouri's first state capitol and starting point of the famous Lewis and Clark expedition. Located at #422 S. Main Street, this family friendly home has 3 newly remodeled levels, with a total of 6 beds (2 king, 4 twin), sleeping 8 people, as well as a luxurious master suite on the lower level that is perfect for couples.

The main floor of the house that walks directly out on to Main Street, has an open floor plan with comfortable living room with a large gas fireplace to snuggle up to, large flat screen TV with DVD player, full kitchen with high end cabinetry, refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and plenty of seating for meals with a great view out to the Missouri River. Huge rough sawn walnut support beams decorate the ceiling.

The 2nd floor bedroom suite, with 12' vaulted ceilings and large walnut support beams, sleeps 6 people. There is a large dormer overlooking Frontier Park, the old Train Depot and cabooses, and a beautiful view of the Missouri River flowing north that includes the custom built in king bed. Across the room there are 4 individual twin beds (2 sets of custom bunks) that allow for everyone to have their own comfy bed. Every bed comes with their own private lighting to make guests feel as comfortable as possible. There is also a giant flat screen clearly viewed from every bed for all to enjoy a movie night or game night on the Nintendo Wii. Also on this level is a full bathroom including a tiled walk in shower with dual shower-valves, and a sitting area with mirror for extra space to get ready, and the dormer on the front by the vanity overlooks the cobblestoned streets of Main.

The lower level includes the private master suite with a king bed, another flat screen TV, and full master bath including a large walk in tiled shower with two shower valves. Enjoy a huge Jacuzzi whirlpool tub heated with 136 gallon water capacity with Shiatzu massaging jets, and Chroma therapy lighted water. Two large fireplaces are also includes in the master suite. One fireplace is located next to the king bed and another in the master bathroom completely viewable from both the large walk in shower and whirlpool tub to add to your experience. Also on the lower level in a separate room, is a full laundry area for our guest to use.

The historic home has been 100% completely remodeled in 2013 and designed entirely with vacation renters in mind. All modern amenities are included such as two 80 gallon hot water heaters so you never run out of hot water, two separate heating and cooling systems so separate floors can control desired temperatures, cable TV, Wifi, Keurig coffee maker, and so much more. The location is excellent. Walk out your front door directly onto the cobblestone sidewalk along the one of the largest historic districts on the national registry. The best part, most are unique businesses that you won't find anywhere else, like Braddens restaurant, Lewis and Clark restaurant, Winery of the Little Hills (great outdoor seating with fire pits located right across the street),The Mother-in-Law House restaurant 98ft away, The Hobbit Hole Antiques, Moss next door for some of the latest fashion, Trailhead Brewery, Grandmas Cookies a few doors down, Kat and Me, and countless others. A personal favorite with our family of four small of children is Riverside Sweets located only two doors down where visitors of all ages can enjoy some of the best ice cream, homemade candy and fudge, caramel apples, and walls of candy and collectibles to choose from. A few blocks north, Picasso's offers a great cup of coffee and some live music at times. About Audrey and Matt

Our family of six loves to travel, and when we discovered the vacation home option instead of hotels, we knew we wanted a rental property of our own to share with others. We hope our cottages enhance your vacation like so many homes have done for us. We love meeting and talking with people from all over, so please feel free to give us a call!- Audrey and Matt

Why Audrey and Matt chose Missouri

We've always loved Old Town St. Charles because of its charm, fun atmosphere, and historic architecture. When we realized that there wasn't much in the way of lodging for families like ours, or larger groups wanting to stay together, we knew this home would fill that void and would be a way for us to enjoy the area even more and let other people experience it too.

What makes this house unique

The ability to walk out the front door in the morning, eat and amazing breakfast. lunch and/or dinner, shop to your hearts content, be amazed by the history and all the fun happenings, and then walk back to a great gathering place without ever getting in your car.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We rented all 3 properties for my daughter's wedding in St. Charles. We had plenty of space for everyone and they were all so impressed with the homes. The homes were meticulously kept, and the furnishings were lovely. We were right in the middle of the historic district with shops and restaurants on our doorstep. The owners had very thoughtfully provided an array of snacks and menus for local restaurants. Although we did not make use of them, there were strollers, play pens, bouncy seats, ice chests. Upstairs were a few toys for younger children, wii games and board games for the whole family. I don't think you could find a better place to spend a few days--or longer. We are already planning a return visit with children and grandchildren. And we will most certainly be staying in the same property. It is a great base for exploring St. Louis and being able to walk locally in St. Charles and along the river. "

Perfect location and very comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is so cute and very comfortable for our family of four. We were impressed with the extra touches such as the basket of snacks and drinks left for us as well as the vase of flowers. It was an easy drive to St Louis to see the sights we didn't have a chance to see the previous day. Our only issue was the shops closed too early and we never had a chance to get through them all!

I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, historic home !

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location to enjoy all that historic St. Charles has to offer. Pristine and beautifully renovated. Although it looks small, it was designed to sleep several more than our party of four with no crowding. Both bedrooms are large and the floorplan is spaced out on three levels to give a sense of spaciousness. The owners have done a superb job in preserving the history of this lovely home and have expertly "put it together" for travelers!

Just west of St. Louis you'll find St. Charles, a river city with a unique historical perspective, beautiful sites, friendly people and a pace just a little slower than that of the big city. Founded as Les Petites Cotes (The Little Hills) by French Canadian fur trader Louis Blanchette, Saint Charles, MO grew into a thriving riverfront trading center for a young America.

Thousands passed through on their journeys westward, replenishing supplies before departing into new territory. Saint Charles is a source of historical encounter: the Lewis and Clark Rendezvous, Missouri's First State Capitol, origin of the Boone's Lick Trail and home to Daniel Boone.

The people of St. Charles have labored lovingly to preserve and share its treasured river heritage. As destination for almost one million visitors each year Saint Charles history comes alive to welcome you.

You'll find St. Charles offers first rate vacation with over 150 restaurants to choose from, and so many things to do, you may have to come back to try everything.

Experience the charm and beauty of a city that has been welcoming visitors since 1769.
