About Megan Curtis
We have 4 children and love to travel around the world. However, we thoroughly enjoying spending relaxing weekends up at Pine Mountain Lake.
Megan Curtis purchased this House in 2009
Why Megan Curtis chose Groveland
We live close to San Francisco and were looking for a great place to relax for the weekend. Only 2 1/2 hours from San Francisco we were able to find our retreat. Pine Mountain Lake has it all. We love spending our weekends here and relaxing.

The house was as listed and felt bigger than the pictures. The owner was easy to communicate with. Great area!
We had a restful night here on our Yosemite adventure. The local Saloon was a real highlight and only a couple minutes away!
Good for families
We had a very nice time at this property. You could walk to the lake, and it's a 2 minute drive to Groveland and about 30 minutes to Yosemite. Very good for kids (we had 4- and 5-year olds) with a play area downstairs and outside, and very spacious with large decks and living areas. One downside is that the internet is pretty slow, but we knew that ahead of time. Also, you'll be able to park a maximum of 4 vehicles if you angle them right. Good communication with the owner.
We had a wonderful time at the home in Groveland there ended up being 11 of us. The home is gorgeous. We would book this again in a heartbeat close to everything Jamestown Yosemite the lake wonderful place
Paul Family Yosemite Trip

Multiple Maintenance Issues, Responsive Owner
I visited Megan's place with my extended family (4 adults, 2 teens, 2 young children). There were 3 spacious bedrooms, and a small bedroom downstairs. The size was good for our group.
Megan's place is 25 Mi to the gate of Yosemite. There's a ranger available at the Groveland Museum, close to her place, who can help visitors plan their trip to Yosemite. It took us about 1:15 to get from Megan's place to Yosemite Valley itself, due to some roadwork inside Yosemite. In Pine Mountain Lake we enjoyed the marina. The pool was nice as well. Also an amply stocked (and reasonably priced) grocery store is close by.
We found Megan's place to be comfortable and stocked with many children's books and toys. My 2 and 4 year olds loved it. However, the teens were disappointed that the air hockey table was broken and some of the billiard cues were lacking tips. The bracket that holds the cues was hung loosely on the wall, and fell down at least once. But luckily no one was hurt.
The adults were also disappointed about a number of inconveniences, to name a few:
- the window curtain over the exterior glass door in the master bath was sheer and was held up by tape. When the curtain fell down, we ended up hanging a bath towel over the glass door to have some semblance of privacy.
- the bath tubs had no stoppers
- the BBQ grill was rusted
- the cable for the TV was not working when we arrived
- no PIN for the Nest air conditioning was in the welcome material, and we did not discover the air conditioning was off (and locked) until temperatures hit the 90s
- two dining chairs had loose parts (leg and seat coming off) which were a safety hazard
- on the final day, we discovered when we washed the high chair cover that underneath it was an old cover that was extremely discolored and possibly moldy. Somehow the new cover had been placed on top, without discarding the old one underneath.
To Megan's credit, she was very responsive by text and contacted her handyman to attempt to fix all the items promptly when we told her. However, some things were difficult to fix in the brief time we were there, and it just felt like an inconvenience to keep discovering little items that needed replacing.
Megan was willing to consider a small discount but has not yet completed the refund after 2 months.
This is the perfect Summer or Winter Getaway! Close to Yosemite and walking distance to the main marina at Pine Mountain Lake. We provide a parking pass for the main marina.
