Perfect holiday home in the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Nautique is the perfect family holiday home in the perfect location. Tucked away from the main road along a secluded track this really is a hidden gem. With incredible views straight out to the Atlantic, staying at Nautique is like living on a boat but with all the comforts of being on land.

Inside the house the owners have thought of everything to ensure a happy family holiday. A comfortable sitting room with great sofas, cosy fire, widescreen telly and incredible ocean views. There’s also an upper mezzanine level with a piano, table and play area – ideal for the little ones to spread out. The kitchen has everything a serious cook could need as well as great views for the washer-upper! The two large double bedrooms and great bunk room provide perfect accommodation for two families. Worth noting are the very good quality mattresses (unusual for a holiday home). Also lovely touches like under floor heating in the hallway to ensure your beach gear and boots dry out – essential on any English holiday!

Nautique is perfectly situated between two heavenly beaches – Carbis Bay to the South and Porthminster to the North. Both are a short walk away along the coastal path - ideal for daytime dips and evening strolls. The walk past Porthminster takes you into St Ives, just ten minutes away, with all its delightful shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes and even more beaches.

We loved our stay and will definitely book again.

Comfortable but not special

  • 3 of 5

Upon arriving at the house we were a little disappointed with the exterior, which was not well maintained, and the very small car parking spaces however once inside the views were stunning. The kitchen was well equipped and a really good size but a little dated. The bathrooms had clearly been recently updated and the shower in the family bathroom was great. We were really disappointed with the "cot" which had been provided for us which consisted of a travel cot which hadn't even been put up with no bedding. There also was no towel provided for our 3 month old. The wii was great fun but it was a shame that the most of the children's dvds were not in the boxes. We made good use of the windbreak and mat but there was little evidence of much else for the beach. The addition of a washing machine and tumble dryer we were very thankful for due to a couple of rainy days and a baby with reflux! The beds were huge and very comfy however it was frustrating that the first time we opened one of the blinds they broke (on inspection it was clear that this had happened before and the string had been tied) which meant we couldn't enjoy the views. There was also a window we couldn't open and the bbq was broken. All in all the positive outweighed the negative and carbis bay being on our door step was a massive bonus. However, we feel complacency has set in a little and the house didn't quite live up to expectation.

Owner's Response: Dear Sarah, I am so sorry that you found some elements of your stay at Nautique disappointing. We try our hardest to ensure the house is in tip top condition for all of our guests and are saddened that you found a few elements out of place. We are however able to get any issues (such as missing towels, broken BBQs or blinds) sorted right away for you if you give us a call on our personal mobile numbers provided. Sadly our wonderful housekeeper can not always spot every CD not put back in boxes or buckets and spades gone missing but we will double our efforts to ensure these points are covered in future. We are also planning another round of maintenance on the house including work to the kitchen which should bring it up to the standards of the rest of the house. Your comments are very much appreciated. With best wishes. Rob & Claire

Wonderful views, great location, fantastic house

  • 5 of 5

The house worked excellently for my extended family of grandparents, parents and grandchildren. Grandparents got the master bedroom with ensuite and my husband and I an equally large and comfortable room, on the same landing as the children's room and family bathroom. Worked well! Outside entertaining areas are just as the photos depict - wonderful. Large kitchen with everything you need. Fantastic location, being close to St Ives and Carbis Bay beach. Recommendations for places to eat are fantastic - we referred to our info pack constantly! Would definitely stay again with two families!

A Perfect British Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We were very lucky to have perfect blue skies throughout our entire stay at Nautique. The house worked very well for our group of 2 couples and 3 children. We loved the location and the walk either down to the beach or into St. Ives each day.

It was great to have access to the beach toys as this allowed the children to try something new each day yet saved us buying bodyboards/spades etc which wouldn't have much use on our return to the Midlands! We added a nice soft volleyball to the collection.

We ate at Ocean Grill which offered really friendly service, tasty food and a good view. We also enjoyed fish and chips and paella night at Porthminster Beach with live music. The kitchen had everything we needed for all our creations!

I will be recommending this house to anybody that wishes to visit St. Ives and hope to return. We all miss the view and the balcony....

better than home from home!

  • 5 of 5

our first stay at Nautique but will not be our last! This house provides everything you need for an amazing holiday by the beach.A lot of thought has gone into the decor and facilities provided so nothing is missing.Even though the weather could have been better we managed to venture out sightseeing everyday and then come back to a well equiped kitchen to enjoy the local produce we had picked up on our travels. We managed a b.b.q one night and sat out till late watching the stars appear in a beautiful clear sky.It was a family holiday with ages ranging from 18mnths to 56yrs and I can safely say everyone had a wonderful time.Fish and chips in Padstow from Rick Steins take away are not to be missed.Pirri Pirri chicken and Sea food platter was a treat to eat at the Fire House in St.Ives.

You cant go to Cornwall and not have a cream tea so after 3 or 4 of them (a bit dissapointing) we discovered the last coffee house at the end of the harbour beach in St.Ives and this was by far the best quality of any of them all!!

We hope all this helps others decide to visit Nautique and enjoy the house as much as we did.

If you have a toddler or small child I would recommend taking a stair gate as the stairs leading down from the first floor are quite steep and may be difficult for a child.Once we had fitted ours there was nothing to worry about and we all relaxed!

Best view plus well equipped home.

  • 5 of 5

This home on Carbis Bay is a short walk from the lovely town of St. Ives. It is perfectly situated with amazing views from most all rooms. Comfortable, cozy furniture, well-equipped kitchen, activities galore, even the beach chairs are there. Games for children, tour books, maps and restaurant suggestions. Owners are most helpful, considerate and responsive.

We stayed for two glorious weeks. We are an active older couple, and had no trouble walking to the bus and train. You really do not need a car. Friends visited us, and we took in everything we could. Searched for sea glass on the Harbor Beach, hiked for hours on the coastal paths, took in the Eden Project, wandered around the art galleries, ate ice cream at Moo Maids, took the bus to Lands End, and Penzance. We were actually not disappointed with our one rainy day so we could just finally read for the day!

The house is fabulous. We would come back again, and wish it could be very soon. We have purchased a Tempur mattress first thing when we got home.

You won't be disappointed with this one!

Car: not necessary

This part of Cornwall is one of the most magical locations you will ever find; including some of Europe's best beaches, the UK's finest eating spots, great local produce and all the beauty nature can muster.

Nautique sits neatly above the sheltered and sandy blue flag accredited Carbis Bay beach - never over-crowded and a perfect family playground, just minutes from the house. With the supermarket a 3 min walk away and Porthminster beach, St Ives and the Tate just 10 min down the coastal path you really don't need to get in the car. But if you want to explore Penzance, St Michael’s Mount, Newlyn and Mousehole, Lands End, Sennan Cove, Porthcurno, Minnack Theatre, Eden Project and the Lizard are all nearby.

The surrounding area is amazing; mile upon mile of stunning white sand surfing beaches, crystal clear waters, breathtaking coastal and country walks, art galleries, open air theatres, superb pubs, cafes and restaurants, beautiful gardens and even the odd cider farm or theme park.

Other Activities: kite surfing
