About Vickie Moyle
Owners, Hank & Vickie, quit the pollution of the big city twenty years ago and moved their family to the Sunset Canyon Ranch...and have never looked back. We wake up in Zions every day! Need we say more!
Vickie Moyle purchased this House in 1992
Why Vickie Moyle chose Virgin
We fell in love with Zion National Park when we had a vacation home in nearby St. George, Utah thirty years ago. We always dreamed of owning a ranch and then one day, after five years of searching, the most enchanting place in the world presented itself - an old famous ranch bordering Zion National Park. The ranch had been used as a location for several movies through the years and we fell in love.
What makes this House unique
When you drive into the gates of The Sunset Canyon Ranch you are enthralled by the stunning view of Kolob and Cougar Mountain. Down a long steep drive into the canyon, your heart melts as you view the green pastures, surrounded by white fences. A lovely creek runs through the entire property and cottonwood trees line the banks. Several ponds are claimed as home by ducks and a variety of fish. This is a veritable jewel oasis in the desert. But the best thing of all...and the story behind the name...is as the sun settles for the day our canyon comes aglow with stunning orange colors. The peace one feels in our magical kingdom is second only to the majesty one feels in Zion National Park.

Amazing stay at the most gorgeous place near Zion National Park!
Our family stayed here for five nights and LOVED it! The house is on a private ranch inside of a gorgeous canyon, surrounded by majestic cliffs and rock faces. But because the Virgin River is just behind the house, and there is a stream nearby, the ranch itself has lush trees along the water line, and a little orchard.
Just sitting on the porch in the mornings looking at the red/orange cliffs through the sunlit foliage, drinking coffee and listening to the stream, was so relaxing - a great start to every day of exploring.
The house itself is comfortable and stocked with everything you need to cook, do laundry, and live comfortably. The BBQ grill and cute lit-up patio are awesome at night! Beds are great and comfy!
The kitchen appliances are dated, but who cares? They work fine and frankly, for this house and view, I'd be willing to cook hotdogs with an iron. (You won't need to, though - they have a fully stocked kitchen with pots/pans, spices, utensils, etc. We cooked breakfast & dinner every day.)
Driving to Zion Nat'l Park is fast, about 20 minutes or so. It's SO worth it to stay here, and not in a hotel in Springdale. The drive in and out of the ranch itself, and the drive along the road leading to the ranch are worth the time it takes! Considering you're spending hours, or all day in the Canyon, the drive from the ranch to Zion is literally nothing.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. The property owners are so nice and friendly and welcoming - we felt very much at home.
You're allowed to walk and explore around the ranch, use the pool if you like (we didn't, b/c we were too busy out hiking & sightseeing, and it was a little cool by now).
Their pictures online are true to life but don't even do justice to the the place -- it's hard to capture the 360 degree beauty of the canyon and the property in photographs.
It's easy driving to Zion National Park (20 min), Bryce Canyon (~2 hours), and all the other local-ish Utah hotspots.
We were here with one family, but there are two living rooms, so if you came with two families there is private space to be found if needed.
If you're debating between this place and a hotel, choose this ranch! You won't regret it. XOXO
Terrific house . Terrific hosts. Many thanks.
We stayed at the Ranch for 3 nights in July and loved it. The house is spacious and beautiful, Vickie was very helpful and our kids loved the dogs and cat that roamed the property.
Lodging near Zion National Park
Sunset Canyon Ranch was a wonderful and beautiful place to stay, Our family thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful, comfortable atmosphere at the ranch. The log house was roomy for our five family members and was very well stocked with all we needed! Thank you to Vicki , Annie and the whole family for making us feel so welcome!
Lovely to host your Zion vacation and we hope you enjoyed your "down-time" as much as your Park time! You have a lovely family and maybe we'll get to meet the rest next time you come our way.

Serenity in Paradise
My wife and I absolutely adored our stay at the Sunset Canyon Ranch. Everything was impeccable down to the smallest detail. We can not recommend this property highly enough!
Thank you for your kind words. I can't think of a lovelier place to spend one's honeymoon. May the peace, serenity and beauty of this place transfer to your lives together.

The log house is absolutely beautiful! Each morning we enjoyed coffee on the porch, listening to the rushing creek and watching the hummingbirds eat. (We refilled the feeder twice during our stay!) The house is spacious and comfortable with ALL the comforts of home including fully stocked kitchen, soaking jacuzzi tub, outdoor patio with grill and more. The drive through the entance gate has the most magnificent views of the ranch and the mountains...it doesn't look real!! Vickie and Hank are the most gracious hosts, we can't wait to return! If you love the beauty of Mother Nature, this is the place!
Imagine a private, unique interlude with Zion sans thousands of tourists. Nestled in a deep canyon beneath the red rock and volcanic mesas of Zion National Park, you’ll find the perfect, very exclusive, hideaway for your vacation rental. Green pastures, a gurgling stream, ponds and ancient trees create a stark pastoral contrast to the raw, wind-sculpted red mountains of Zion. This 750 acre working ranch is bordered by Zion National Park and BLM land and is centrally located for your day visits to Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Las Vegas.
