Welcome to our home! We have always enjoyed entertaining and are happy to share our home with visitors. The house is approximately 100 years old. We have tried to preserve all the original woodwork and even use the old milk delivery door for our mailbox. When the weather is nice the backyard is the perfect place to sip your coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The neighborhood is known as “The Highlands.” It was originally a hops field for the Pabst beer company until prohibition. At that time it was turned into a housing community. It is one of the safest in Milwaukee. There are several restaurants, a coffee shop, and a theatre within walking distance. The Highlands is known for its well landscaped common areas and sidewalks throughout if you are up for a stroll. Unlike the cookie-cutter neighborhoods developed after WWII, each house is different.
For easy access to the house: Code lock is located on the side door (east side of the house next to driveway). The code with instruction will be emailed to you the day before your visit. Guests have complete use of the whole house. Washer and dryer and kitchen ready to cook in. Feel free to use any of the spices in the pantry or condiments in the refrigerator. Just let us know if you use the last of something.
Easy access to the home for guests. Host available when needed. Host will not be on premise.
This home is situated in a friendly neighborhood in the Village of Wauwatosa. Set off from the street, it is very quiet and private. Just two blocks away are favorite neighborhood places to walk to: Valentine Coffee, Highlands Cafe, Maison, Cold Spoons Gelato, Times Cinema, and Highland Lanes. Within a 30 minute walk, or 5 minutes drive, takes you to the Village with a plethora of shops, restaurants, and things to do: yoga, bike trail, spa, salon, food and drink, church, library and of course shopping.
There are numerous bus lines within a two block radius, that can take you all over the city. Lyft is an inexpensive alternative to driving your own car.
Other things to note
If the recycling bin or trash cans get full, you can empty them in the larger containers behind the garage. Please park in the driveway. Do not park on the street overnight or you will get a ticket. If you need to park on the street, please call the police dept. The phone number will be listed on the information sheet in the home. They will want to know the car model, license plate number and address where parked.
There are no parties allowed on premises. If you plan to hold a small, family oriented event, please discuss with the owner first.
