Clean & Good Location
This house was plenty big enough for 2 sets of grandparents, my husband and me, 2 of our boys and our dog, while our other son stayed with his team at the All Star Village.
The house was very clean when we arrived and had all we needed to prepare our own meals and be comfortable. It was located halfway between the All Star Village in Oneonta and Cooperstown to check out the shops, museums, etc.
The property is beautiful and was large enough for our dog to be on a long leash to get some exercise. She enjoyed chasing birds, watching the animals and being outdoors!
The main floor bathroom could use a window covering, especially with all of the vehicles in and out of the driveway for the horse farm. The deck is big, offers a beautiful view and had a new grill which was great. The only downside was that the deck is in need of some attention.
Cody was very responsive to any questions we had both before and during our stay.
Thanks for sharing your home with us!
The decks are on this list for this next season to be redone. and I will get on the bathroom window curtain.
thanks for staying with us! -Cody
Very much enjoyed our stay. Was great house and a great location. Will look to stay there again next for our annual baseball trip to Cooperstown!
do not recommend staying here
Based on the pictures in the listing, we knew the home would be outdated and we were OK with that. We were in town for baseball and didn't plan to spend a lot of time at the house anyway.
Unfortunately, the house was dirty. The shower in the master bathroom had black scum rimming the door. The dishes all needed to be washed prior to our using them. The carpet was so stained that we didn't feel comfortable in bare feet.
Our biggest complaint though was the terrible mattresses. Each morning, we woke up sore from sinking into the big holes in the middle of the mattress. We tried to sleep on the edges of the bed for a little firmness, but ultimately the sagging mattress would pull us in.
I corresponded with the owner on our 3rd morning in the home. We had done our best to overlook the dirtiness and the beds, but after our 3rd night it didn't seem reasonable to keep quiet.
Cody was gracious and apologetic. She said the carpet had just recently been dirtied by guests and offered to send a cleaning lady out to take care of that. Honestly, the carpet was the least of our worries and the last thing we wanted was a cleaning person in the house for a few hours and then wet carpet to hop over. (and there is no way these huge black stains had just been made!)
We requested at least one night of compensation, thinking we could at least use that money to get ourselves a massage and soothe our aching backs! :) Cody said absolutely not and that we could move out of the house for the remainder of our stay if we wanted.
If you've moved a week's worth of groceries and all of your belongings into a rental home, the last thing you want to do is move back out and start researching an available place to stay between your kid's baseball games, so that wasn't an option for us.
In the end, she offered us a $200 refund, but we have not received that at this time, one week after leaving the house. She also said she has never received a single complaint about the mattresses. I find this incredibly difficult to believe. We've stayed in many VRBO and airbnbs in the past and this is the first negative review I have ever written. I don't like to write negative reviews. But, I also want people to know what they are getting when/if they decide to rent this home.
Had a great time. Loved seeing the horses roaming around. The house was nice. Plenty of room for the family and it was clean.
Gorgeous setting convenient to Cooperstown!
We had a wonderful stay, The owner was very accommodating !
We stayed with two of our kids while the oldest stayed with the team at Dreams park. Lots of room! We were supposed to have more with us and this home can easily accommodate 6-8+ people. House was in nice shape, clean and everything worked. The best part was the setting. Beautiful Valley with over fifteen horses on the property. We found ourselves missing the horses as we drove home. Thank you Cody for being such a wonderful host!
