About Pat Parish

My brother-in-law Greg, husband Bill, and I bought the beach house in 2004. After visiting the area for over 30 years . We looked for quite some time until we found this little jewel. My husband and his brother grew up in Sarasota and wanted to get back to their Florida roots. We currently live in the mountains of Western North Carolina and hope to one day retire to the Beach!! Life's a beach!!!

Pat Parish purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Pat Parish chose St. Augustine Area

We visited the area for over 30 years prior to buying the cottage......Great beaches, antiques stores, good bike and walking trails, good music in the Summer at the pier and wonderful restaurants. We love riding our bikes into the historic district and looking at all the old houses. Which takes about 30 minutes by bike or 10 minutes by car.

What makes this cottage unique

We fell in love with our home because of the way it sits back in the trees and is really pretty private. It's the 3rd house from the end, on a dead end street. We love to sit on the swing on the front porch!

Awesome Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Even though we were forced to cut our vacation short because of Hurricane Matthew, we absolutely loved our stay in this home. Pat, I hope your home is ok with no damage! It is a very easy walk to the beach. This is a very quiet neighborhood and the neighbors are friendly. The layout of the home is perfect and as so many others have said, they provide everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. I would love to vacation here again. I had the pleasure of talking to Pat a couple of times while we were there and she is just awesome. We really enjoyed the screened in porch as well as the front porch with the swing.

CRACKER HEAVEN...

  • 4 of 5

What a great little hideaway... !!! Simple comfort is the best way to describe the Cracker House.

... Just a few blocks from the beach nestled in the trees. Love the little screened porch in the private back yard.

I was a VRBO owner for years and really appreciate the fully stocked kitchen. I have stayed in lots of VRBO type places over the years and was very pleased with the selection of pots, pans, dishes, glassware, and cooking tools. It may sound like a no brainer to have these things but you would be surprised how often simple conveniences like this are missed.

... The beds were comfortable, the water pressure great, the WIFI was strong, the furniture was well laid out and the AC cranked !!! (again simple things that are often lacking in many VRBO's)

... Although there were just 2 of us (and our 2 little pups) the place is certainly spacious enough to accommodate more friends or family for sure.

... Just one minor comment that if you are into watching TV (but WHY ? you are at the beach !!!) the TV's are very small. However, it was an Olympics week so we were a bit disappointed with the tiny TV's. Guess we are all spoiled by big screens these days...

... We will certainly come back !!! THX AGAIN !

Quiet, peaceful get-away

  • 4 of 5

We (three adults) recently stayed in this St. Augustine retreat. Primarily, we enjoyed the peacefulness of the home. It was an easy two block walk to the beach. Due to eating at our favorite St. Augustine restaurants, we didn't prepare any meals, but the kitchen appeared amply stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The beds were very comfortable, and I had the feeling that everything was clean. The decor gives you the sense of being at "grandma's house". When we return in "cooler" weather, we will definitely take advantage of the private screened porch and back yard. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

We had a great week!

  • 5 of 5

The home was perfect for our needs. The location was convenient to the beach and for biking to places to eat. There is a publix about 2 miles away for food shopping as well as a Starbucks for those like myself with a caffeine addiction. The home is situated on a dead end street, so it was quiet and safe. We had great weather, sunny each day with ocean temps in the mid 80's.

Want to go back

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this rental the week of July 11th. This wasn't our first trip to St. Augustine Beach, but was our first time at this rental, I cannot think of anything negative about our experience. Honestly!

The property is located on a quiet side street, less than 5 minutes walk to the beach. In the cul-de-sac of the street, the house is set back off the street and secluded by a nice natural growth front yard, which helps keep the sun out of the windows thereby helping keep the house cool. The back yard is private with a small screen seating area and outside patio, perfect for a morning coffee.

The house is nicely equipped with everything we needed; clean bedding & towels, plus spares, full kitchen with plenty of everything you might need in a vacation rental. We ate out and out (60/40) and never wanted for any piece of kitchen equipment. There is a Publix supermarket a five minute drive and fresh fish mongers in the area so no need to bring groceries with you. Within walking distance there are a number of restaurants (DON'T MISS THE TACO SHOP!!)

St Augustine Beach is a great beach town, not too touristy and nice and clean. St Augustine city is only a 15 minute drive, great for a day trip or for additional dinner options. And combined with this property makes a great time.

My interaction with the property owner was flawless, even when I had to contact them on Sunday afternoon because I'd forgotten to bring the code for the key box. The price we paid was great, the property is great, the location is great, the time we had was great. It's just a great place.

PS - I'm hesitant giving such a review as we anticipate renting the property again, but don't want it to be booked when we want it ;-)
