Quaint and comfortable: 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom cottage available to rent for your vacation or get-away. Over 1100 sq. ft. of living area. Each bedroom as it's own bath. Covered front porch, with a swing and porch furniture. As well as a private, screened in back porch that has a dining table and chairs for your enjoyment.
It's not your typical Florida beach house, a friend of ours has said that it's a 'Mountain Home at the Beach'.
We hope that if you decide to stay with us that you will enjoy it as much as we do.
My brother-in-law Greg, husband Bill, and I bought the beach house in 2004. After visiting the area for over 30 years . We looked for quite some time until we found this little jewel. My husband and his brother grew up in Sarasota and wanted to get back to their Florida roots. We currently live in the mountains of Western North Carolina and hope to one day retire to the Beach!! Life's a beach!!!
Pat Parish purchased this cottage in 2004
We visited the area for over 30 years prior to buying the cottage......Great beaches, antiques stores, good bike and walking trails, good music in the Summer at the pier and wonderful restaurants. We love riding our bikes into the historic district and looking at all the old houses. Which takes about 30 minutes by bike or 10 minutes by car.
We fell in love with our home because of the way it sits back in the trees and is really pretty private. It's the 3rd house from the end, on a dead end street. We love to sit on the swing on the front porch!
Cute little cottage, perfect for our trip. Walking distance to beach and restaurants. We were a family of 4 and it was plenty of room.
We have lots of extended family in St Augustine and we usually have a large gathering for Thanksgiving. This year, my cousins house was damaged by hurricane Matthew, so we had to find shelter nearby. After we arrived, it was quickly obvious that we would have to do some serious cooking. Fortunately for us, the kitchen was well stocked with great cookware.
We used the stove and the oven and everything was fully operational.
The location was excellent, and we had an easy walk to the beach. You are in the middle of everything and yet it's VERY quiet.
The linens and bedding could be updated to good advantage, but overall it's a comfortable
and clean cabin and we felt totally safe in the neighborhood.
Even though we were forced to cut our vacation short because of Hurricane Matthew, we absolutely loved our stay in this home. Pat, I hope your home is ok with no damage! It is a very easy walk to the beach. This is a very quiet neighborhood and the neighbors are friendly. The layout of the home is perfect and as so many others have said, they provide everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. I would love to vacation here again. I had the pleasure of talking to Pat a couple of times while we were there and she is just awesome. We really enjoyed the screened in porch as well as the front porch with the swing.
What a great little hideaway... !!! Simple comfort is the best way to describe the Cracker House.
... Just a few blocks from the beach nestled in the trees. Love the little screened porch in the private back yard.
I was a VRBO owner for years and really appreciate the fully stocked kitchen. I have stayed in lots of VRBO type places over the years and was very pleased with the selection of pots, pans, dishes, glassware, and cooking tools. It may sound like a no brainer to have these things but you would be surprised how often simple conveniences like this are missed.
... The beds were comfortable, the water pressure great, the WIFI was strong, the furniture was well laid out and the AC cranked !!! (again simple things that are often lacking in many VRBO's)
... Although there were just 2 of us (and our 2 little pups) the place is certainly spacious enough to accommodate more friends or family for sure.
... Just one minor comment that if you are into watching TV (but WHY ? you are at the beach !!!) the TV's are very small. However, it was an Olympics week so we were a bit disappointed with the tiny TV's. Guess we are all spoiled by big screens these days...
... We will certainly come back !!! THX AGAIN !
We (three adults) recently stayed in this St. Augustine retreat. Primarily, we enjoyed the peacefulness of the home. It was an easy two block walk to the beach. Due to eating at our favorite St. Augustine restaurants, we didn't prepare any meals, but the kitchen appeared amply stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The beds were very comfortable, and I had the feeling that everything was clean. The decor gives you the sense of being at "grandma's house". When we return in "cooler" weather, we will definitely take advantage of the private screened porch and back yard. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.
The home was perfect for our needs. The location was convenient to the beach and for biking to places to eat. There is a publix about 2 miles away for food shopping as well as a Starbucks for those like myself with a caffeine addiction. The home is situated on a dead end street, so it was quiet and safe. We had great weather, sunny each day with ocean temps in the mid 80's.
