Relax and enjoy Juneau in our Sitting Eagle Guest Suite, a renovated, open concept apartment located on Douglas Island across the bridge from Juneau. The guest suite features captivating views of Mount Roberts and Gastineau Channel, with its own semi-private garden with a deck and hot tub just right for enjoying our Alaskan scenery. Large windows fill the apartment with light and provide interesting views as the cruise ships, float planes, and wild life come and go.
Alaska's capital city is packed with outdoor activities for the adventurous and the not so adventurous. Zip lines, whale watching, fishing, hiking, boating, float plane rides, helicopter sight seeing, kayaking, river rafting - the list goes on and on, all only minutes away from our comfortable apartment.
We are conveniently located near the small town of Douglas, so that in a few minutes you can be walking on the beach or stopping by the Pub for a tasty bite or a pint of award winning Alaskan beer. Our location makes it easy to enjoy Douglas Island or downtown Juneau after your day of adventure and fun in the Last Frontier. It also provides a great place to rest and relax.
Sitting Eagle Guest Suite is a great place to stay whether you're in Juneau for business or pleasure. The suite has all the comforts of home along with the views of Alaska. A well equipped kitchen, spa like bath with heated floor, and comfortable furnishings help you enjoy your stay in Juneau. A full size washer and dryer are also provided, so pack light.
We love the area and the views that our house and apartment provide. Also, the convenience is great! Our home is easy to drive into and close to many different activities both in Juneau and Douglas. We can view the 4th of July fireworks from the front window and attend the Douglas 4th festivities with a short walk. Every 4th Sandy Beach is the venue for a fun celebration with many events and a parade. Gold Rush Days are also held there in June. This is a miner/lumberjack competition that we both really enjoy. There is a cafe and pub within 4 blocks and the premier live theatre in Alaska, Perseverance Theatre, is just down the street. It's also quick and easy to get to unbelievable hiking, skiing and fishing spots.
There are great views both in summer and winter. Summer brings boating! It's fun to see friends heading out for fishing or crabbing on their boats and the cruise ships navigating the water way. Winter brings scenes of falling snow and winter sun on the mountains across the channel.
Then there is the wildlife! It never gets old watching eagles, water fowl, whales, and orcas right out of your windows.
Close to downtown Juneau and Douglas but away from the crowds with fabulous views of the water and the mountains!
Came to enjoy some business and pleasure. The pleasure definitely being staying in this wonderful, charming suite. We enjoyed every minute of it. It was very comfortable and clean! Loved how it was decorated and having a new washer and dryer was a plus. It was fun getting up in the mornings and seeing the bald eagles flying around. Several mornings they were sitting in the pine trees off the back deck. One night we were even lucky to see the Northern Lights right off the back deck!! Very easy access to Juneau and enjoyed the sites of Douglas as well. Would totally recommend this suite and if we are ever back this way we would definitely stay again. Sorry that we checked out to stay in downtown Juneau for our business portion of the trip as this suite was better by far.
Best VRBO if not one of the best places my husband and I have ever stayed, hands down -- and we've traveled the world and have stayed in 4- and 5-star hotels! *Pristinely* clean, beautifully decorated, modern but cozy, perfectly organized, with every amenity you could need including a fully stocked kitchen with pantry items, washer and dryer, a grill, and even "Sitting Eagle Guest Suite" robes (cute touch). The best part, the spectacular views of Mt. Roberts, the Gastineau Channel, downtown Juneau and Mt. Juneau out the huge picture windows, all visible from the couch and from the perfectly situated hot tub on the lovely deck. Eagles flew by and rested in the trees right out front every day...awesome. We watched waterfalls form on the mountains, the fog and tides roll in and out, the cruise ships come and go, and the tram creep up and down the mountain...if we didn't have so many activities to do around Juneau, we could have stayed here all day, every day and never gotten bored! In fact, on one super stormy day, we did just that and didn't feel like we missed out on anything. And the (very clean) outdoor hot tub was such a perk after long, active days. The pictures don't do it justice -- they're accurate, but it's really that much better in person. The owners respected our privacy, and we never felt like we weren't totally alone. Everything was perfect so we didn't need any help while there, but leading up to our stay, Mary was super responsive and kind to answer some of our questions about getting around Juneau. To that point: we are big walkers, so we didn't wind up renting a car and didn't miss one. The public buses were super convenient and $2 a ride, and it was easy and quick to call a taxi for a ride from absolutely anywhere when needed, 24/7. It was our first time in Juneau and Alaska, and being over on Douglas didn't stop us from easily getting to all of our excursions and everything we wanted to see. On a nice day, it's a about a 2+ mile walk into town -- fully paved sidewalk all the way with a pretty view of the channel. It was SO nice to have some distance from all the tourists! Island Pub down the street is delicious, too. We were heartbroken to leave and hope Mary and Thom keep this suite open for guests for years to come so we can return! Thank you, Mary and Thom. We'll never forget our stay here and can't wait to be back in beautiful Juneau!
Just spent a week in Sitting Eagle; charming, spacious, quiet, exceptional functional design and good location ... 5-star all the way. The kitchen has more counter space than in our own home! Who expects to have a Kitchen Aid mixer and a baby chair, toys and portable crib available; you will when checking in to this lovely apartment. We were in town for the first birthday of a nephew and wonderfully surprised to be able to bake the celebration cake and entertain the family for an afternoon to relieve this from the parents.
The hot tub and private garden from which to view Mount Roberts, the coming and going of the cruise ships and lights of downtown is breathtaking! The weather only allowed us to bask in the morning sun in the garden, overlooking the channel with our coffee in hand one day - wish it could have been more!
Mary and Thom keep a meticulously clean apartment, a tailored keyless entry code and a rental/tourism guide which answers every question we may have had. This apartment was THE MOST comfortable and thoughtfully appointed accommodation we've stayed in yet! Being so close to downtown to explore things there, then skip over the bridge to the quiet of the island was a big advantage. A few blocks down the street is The Island Pub - one of our favorite places to eat.
If pushed to identify a down side, it would be the queen size bed when we are used to king ... minor when considering everything else Sitting Eagle offers. We were sorry to have to leave and plan to stay again!
This was my second stay and this will always be my choice when visiting son in Juneau. Great location and wonderful views. Mary and Thom are very accommodating providing excellent customer service. Very clean with all amenities supplied.Exceptional value.
Loved my stay. Everything was so well organised and clean. The space is private and in great condition. Owners are great to deal with, polite and informative. I have zero complaints. Beautiful place. Beautiful view. I recommend staying here for your time in the Juneau area.
