Beautiful house located next to the Saja National Reserve.
This property, with traditional appearance, has modern architect-designed interiors.
It is situated less than an hour away from Santander (P&O Ferry and Ryanair Airport) in rural countryside with spectacular views of the mountains in one of the most beautiful valleys in Cantabria.
Strategically located, it is only half an hour from the beach and half an hour from the ski resort of Alto Campoo. It is the perfect choice to take a relaxing break at any time of year.
Car is recommended, however there is a direct connection by bus to the village from Santander.
Helguera is located right in the centre of Cantabria, therefore it is an ideal base to explore the area, a great place if you are planning for a long term stay, and also a good starting point if you are planning to travel further inland. It has excellent communications, having the Santander - Madrid motorway just 1km away.
It is an ideal accommodation if you want to stay in a peaceful and quiet place but within easy reach of services and ammenities. The house, an oasis of tranquility, is surrounded by fields and mountains where kids can play around and ride their bikes without any traffic or dangers.
If you wish to go to the beach or practice water sports in the 'Pantano del Ebro' (Ebro River Reservoir) it will take you no longer than a 25 minute drive. Among nearby points of interest or day visits we have the following:
The Roman archeological site of Julióbriga, the medieval Argüeso Castle, a recreation of an ancient Cantabrian village, are all just a 15 minute drive away.
This was a great house for our family. The property is accurately described with everything provided for a relaxing holiday . Nicely renovated with a great garden for the kids to run around in. This is a great home base to explore the region. We had a wonderful stay !
We had two beautiful weeks in Molledo. The house is modern, clean and lovely with a garden. We had sunny weather and did a lot of things, went to the different beaches (you need 30 minutes to get there, Molledo is situated in the mountains), to the caves of altamira, to rafting, to Bilbao and we had two very nice meetings with Jaime, Rocio and Maria. The customer service was really good! Of course, we can recommend this property.
Located in a small village in the middle of Cantabria, it is the perfect spot to recharge your batteries and enjoy the fresh air an marvellous views of green Spain.
We have enjoyed the rafting experience and the beautiful nature of the Alto Ebro river, the lovely beaches, the wonderful time hiking in the mountains and the nice weather.
A recommander !
Great place to stay in a beautiful small village.
We have spent a week with our two children and we have enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you very much Rocio and Jaime for your kind welcome and your help during our stay .
The house is located between the sea and the mountains in the Iguña Valley. This region also has a spa with mineral-medicinal waters, in Las Caldas de Besaya.
Helguera conserves one of the most interesting specimens of Mozarabic architecture in Cantabria: a tenth-century parish church with a rectangular apse covered by a barrel vault, which houses an eighteenth-century altarpiece.
There is a green pedestrian route that boasts great cultural and natural interest, and takes you along the best preserved stretch of the Pisoraca-Julióbriga-Portus Blendium Roman road. This is a highly recommendable and simple route that can be covered in under 2 hours, and there are railway stations at the start and finish of the route, thus making it easier. There is also a long trail that crosses the Saja National Reserve. The trail travels through vast beech and oak tree forests, beautiful brañas (high pastureland) filled with holly trees, and some of Cantabria's most attractive and interesting villages.
