Great family house

  • 5 of 5

Great house. We stayed 2 nights with 3 families - 6 adults and 9 kids - and had plenty of room. Basketball court was amazing. Grounds were beautiful. House was perfect.

Expectations exceeded!

  • 5 of 5

First time Cape vacationers and we are very satisfied. The home was impeccably clean upon arrival. Comfortable beds and quality furnishings. The bedrooms are spread out over 3 floors, which gave everyone nice space. The house and outdoor space is as luxurious as the pictures show. Our kids, 6, 8 & 12, loved the pool, basketball court and game room. We are very happy with our choice in accommodations. This rental was perfect.

Beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful trip. We recently stayed here with 2 other families and had an excellent time. This is our fourth time visiting the Cape and we continue to be pleased. We spent a lot of time pool side. Hydrangeas and flowers were abundant. Lovely post and beam house with ample space and multiple living areas. Screened in porch was great at night. Owner was very accommodating during our stay Long Beach and Craigville Beach are two of our favorites and only a short distance away. We will be back!

VRBO process

  • 3 of 5

First, I have already written and sent a review using this webpage. I didn't find it posted so I wonder if it was received by VRBO. This has been typical of VRBO. More about that below.

My review again, our family had a great time, the house was very nice and despite a few maintenance issues with the house, they didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves.

My impression of the process was that the VRBO website was helpful in finding and deciding on the property we would rent. One of the reasons we went with the house was because VRBO lends a certain amount credibility to the owner and offers some protection like late cancellation and damage protection. VRBO & the owner could make some improvement in the process that begins a year in advance with a significant down payment. We made 2 rent payments and both times we received notice from VRBO that payment was late when in fact we were early in making payment. I can only attribute this to less then timely action & communication between the owner and VRBO. Remember, there is significant money involved, the renter is hundreds of miles away and there was one very negative review answered by the owner. After final payment, security access to the property should be made clear to the renter. Security Codes sent the day of travel to the property seems a bit late. Maybe using text that day or email the day before would be an improvement.

I called the Mr Hunt directly to clarify conditions of the property & was assured, regarding the negative comments, that they were overblown. I have an understanding of rental properties & renters having had rental properties of my own and I know a fair number landlords. I have to say I was a little disappointed, that a couple of nuisance conditions (slow drains and two bedroom TVs not working) were still there after being reassured they were not. With a little planning these were two fairly simple things to correct but were not. Again they didn't stop us because I didn't expect perfection and I was able to restore power to the bathroom GFCI receptacles... once Mr Hunt directed me to the hidden elec panel. I did communicate to Mr Hunt a list of maintenance items, since during the rental season it is awkward, but not impossible, to fix things while being occupied.

I would recommend this property to others but I would admonish them to get a credible understanding of conditions before making first payment and again with the final payment.

Wonderful home for family or friends trip!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our annual family vacation, 6 adults and 3 children. This house is great! The adults stayed in the en-suite rooms, while the granddaughters stayed in the twin bed room and our grandson had his own room, which worked great with his naps. When the children were not in the pool, they were on the basketball court having fun. The fire pit was awesome. We had beautiful weather during our week stay, chilly in the evening so we enjoyed sitting around the fire and yes, we made s'mores 3 evenings. Such fun! I love to garden and cook, so I was quite impressed with the beautiful landscaping. Gorgeous large hydrangeas seemed to be in abundance, and the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and gadgets. I even found a lemon zester. We had no major issues. I emailed the homeowner about a burned out light bulb in one of the bathrooms and a slow draining shower. Within hours light bulbs were dropped off by the cleaning company and I was notified when a plumber would be coming to fix the drain. I appreciated that the homeowner was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. The location of the house is great, it is in a nice quiet residential area. 5 minutes to a grocery store and 7 minutes to Hyannis. Day trips were made to many of the quaint small towns on the Cape. I would highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone who wants to enjoy time with their family or friends. It has a lot to offer with activities and different sitting areas ( like the screened in porch , where you can sit and listen to the wind whistle through the screen and the trees). Having traveled from hot Texas, this was a welcome relief.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had 13 family members and three generations. The Grandchildren loved the pool. My sons loved all the things to do around the place. basketball courts. plus other out side games. We had a fire pit fire most nights toasting marshmallows. pool table down stairs that everyone played in the evenings. Two refrigerators. one down by the pool table. we kept bottle water, soda, and gator aid down there. gas barbecue grill that was used at least three times that week. They have two nice size pots to cook lobsters. we sent one day on Martha's Vineyard., another day on Nantucket. We went whale watching and took the two youngest grandchildren fishing a boat for children. The youngest caught a shark the same size she is.

The whole family had a great time.
