My husband and I have lived the majority of our lives in beautiful southern Illinois and enjoy everything that it has to offer.
Carla Frazine purchased this cabin in 2011
Hohman Lake is a quiet, peaceful lake. The lake is restricted to property owners and their guests. Boats can't have motors with over 6 hp to avoid disrupting the relaxing atmosphere that is present.
Our favorite features of the cabin are the large, outdoor spa and the multi-level deck. Star gazing while sitting in the spa is a must. We believe our cabin has the best view of the entire lake!
We had a great time at the cabin on the lake, and everything was ready for us when we arrived. The hot tub was relaxing with the views of the lake and sunset. It is close to the casino and grocery store. We had a big time, and the cabin was really nice and we enjoyed every minute did not want to leave the cabin.
My husband and I spent two nights in this lovely little home for our 16th anniversary. Couldn't have asked for anything better. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub and new dock were great amenities. Relaxing on the screened in porch with that view and reading a book was wonderful. The only problems we encountered were a problem with bees on the deck. The owner did have traps out for these but they were bothersome and my husband killed many while we were there. Otherwise wonderful visit and we would love to return!
This house exceeded my expectations. The screened patio was such a wonderful place to watch the lake during a rain storm. It was very clean(I'm picky) and had everything we required. We made chocolate chip cookies to enjoy on the patio. We also enjoyed a couple DVDs at the house that we had been wanting to see. It is so peaceful there I realized what relaxed actually felt like (I had forgotten). We can't wait to go back, it was so beautiful.
I wish we had more time to stay! I found myself looking forward to getting back to the house after a day exploring the Shawnee National Forest. The hot tub was a great addition and I enjoyed sitting in it star gazing. My favorite thing is the swing by the lake. I was so impressed with how nice and inviting the house was. It left like home away from home!
The cottage was cute, clean, and comfortable.
We were renewed by the moon's shimmer on the lake, the cardinals flutter through the trees, Orion's glimmer in the night sky, and the peace and serenity of all creation.
We would recommend The National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY. We don't sew, but my husband and I both enjoyed the art of the quilts. We enjoyed the Amish stores and bakery in Marion, KY, too.
My sister's and I spent three days in the retreat. We watched the sun come up over the lake in the morning. In the evening we cooked in the spacious kitchen, played games and watched a couple of movies. During the day we visited the National Quilt Museum, walked along the riverfront and visited the Purple Toad winery. One day we had our picture taken with Superman in Metropolis and even did a little gambling. The property was very clean and provided all the amenities as stated. We would definitely go again and recommend the retreat to our friends and family.
We would like to invite you to stay in our relaxing lakeside retreat. My husband and I bought this property in 2011. We love to stay at the lake with our family and friends and wanted to share the experience with others. Hohman Lake was built in 1963 and has many full time and occasional residents. Located only 15 minutes from Paducah, KY and Metropolis, IL it allows guests to enjoy the shopping, restaurants and entertainment available in the city as well as the beauty of Southern Illinois. This place is the perfect family retreat or romantic getaway.
Some of the activities in the surrounding areas include Harrah's Riverboat Casino, the Superman statue and Superman museum and Fort Massac State Park all in Metropolis, IL. We are also within easy driving distance to the Southern Illinois wine trails. Historic downtown Paducah, KY is known for it's riverfront with large paintings reflecting on the history of Paducah, excellent restaurants, art galleries and many shops. Kentucky Oaks Mall and it's surrounding stores and restaurants are also close by.
