Why Cathy & John chose Port Orford
This house is an old spirit, a friendly old spirit and when you walk in the door you will recognise the simple pleasure of a uncluttered home that's rich in the town's history.
What makes this House unique
Our house is one of the few 100yr old houses left in our village, its a wonderful smaller house with an extra lot to fill with organically grown berries and many colors of roses. Short walks take you to long views!!

Sweet Funky Cottage
The Powder House is a sweet funky place with every thing you need for a long stay. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. It's within walking distance of Battle Rock Beach and great local restaurants.
Second time visiting this charming, well-located home. And we will be back.
Port Orford is so beautiful and many things to do and discover. The Powder House is a great location. The back deck was a lovely, sunny spot for morning coffee and saw so many interesting birds.
It's wonderful to have folks come back for a visit, and to know that The Powder House works well for exploring the South Coast. There are many adventures to be taken!!
The property is beautiful and a little quirky and absolutely perfect! The owners were very kind and sweet
This house is in a small coastal town, and a very quiet area. The house was clean as a pin, and everything in order. Most everything is walking distance. The kitchen and linens were fully stocked. I highly recommend the powder house when staying on the Southern Oregon Coast.
Great to hear that our house works for folks who visit town, and can walk to everything they need, plus to several beaches. Its also "home base" to explore
the many adventures on the South Coast!!.
Cozy home ideally located.
The home was clean and had everything we needed for a few nights in PO. Great having a laundry to use onsite. Wonderful garden! The outdoor patio area lovely. Short walk to Crazy Norwegian, CoOp and convenience store. Kids loved the games and books. Thanks.
The lone traveler
As a lone traveler I was a bit concerned about staying in a central location that was safe and comfortable for me. This was the perfect place. Quiet but close to all things I would need. More space than I needed but cozy enough to feel like I could relax. I like the history of the home and the small touches inside that made it feel like someone cared.
We were delighted to here that our guest felt safe and was able to settle into
our house and relax. Ours is a small community and its an easy walk to food
stories, art galleries, restaurants and some beautiful views of the sea. Our guests get to feel what its like to live in our town.
'One of Port Orford's charming and historical gems.'Located in Port Orford, Oregon
The Gateway to Oregon's Wild Rivers Coast.
A bright and cheery historic house, the Powder House has stood it’s ground for 100 years. The towns explosives (powder) were stored behind its walls, at least one baby was born upstairs. Folks settled in for the radio era, the TV era and now the internet era; the house still stands proudly just painted bright blue. Folks come tho take long naps, read thick books, barbecue fish, pick berries from the garden, smell the roses, or just to sit and listen to the spirit of this house that stands at the center of our little village.
