Hyde Park Boutique Hotel
Hyde Park Boutique Hotel
Hyde Park boutique
Pricey 3 star. Little interaction with staff. Asked for photo ID on arrival and not most welcoming of greeting. Had to find room which wasn't signposted. Room was spotless in terms of cleanliness and cleaned every day to a high standard. Room was small for price however fresh decor. Only continental breakfast no bar facilities that I could see.
We arrived at the hotel to half of the outside as a building site, at reception the man was not very friendly on arrival, we were then told that alot of rooms were blocked off and we had to go to their sister hotel. The man spoke to quickly whilst doing something we could only catch part of what he said which was something like the other hotel was nicer and had a bar? We were then put in a taxi, when arriving at the other hotel the receptionist was very confused when i was explaining the situation to her and it took a long time to resolve what was happening, we were the told that check in wasn't for another 3 hours, even though i had specifically chosen the original hotel for it's any time before 14:00 check in as we had an event booked in the afternoon / evening. We were told we could leave our bags in storage bu that didn't help the fact we'd been travelling 6 hours and wanted to shower and change in our room before our plans. I explained several times and said we wouldn't be back till very late and would it still be ok to check in 23:00, the response was just smiling back at me. It was an awful experience, we had the hotel booked circa 8 months in advance and no communication was sent to us regarding the possibility of having to change hotels and the hotel staff were not helpful at all. It has put me off booking a hotel in London again, the situation just added more unwanted stress to what should have been an enjoyable weekend.
Good price in Bayswater
Our first night was in GO2. This was on the ground floor by reception which unfortunately meant that overnight ,when it should have been quiet, it sounded as if the reception staff conversation was in the room with you. This was especially bad when they were laughing and chatting on the phone.
We were kindly moved to 301 for the next night, which was far quieter. However if you find stairs difficult this would be tricky since there are a lot of stairs and they are particularly steep from the second to third floor.
Both rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable and despite being small they were reasonably equipped. The showers were both nice and strong. There is no air conditioning, just fans, although you can open the windows.
Some good, some bad
OK location, clean rooms, but lacking atmosphere. Large reception area, but no seating for guests while waiting to check in or out. No lifts to upper floors, but helpful staff to handle baggage. Our room contained a double bed in a space only big enough for a single, with narrow access to only one side of the bed and no bedside table.
Checkout is 11am and our flight out of Heathrow was not until 11pm. One very helpful shift manager arranged for car to pick us up at 6:30pm and care for our baggage from 11am to 6:30pm. On the day, a different shift manager said they would only be able to look after our bags after5pm - officious and pointless attitude that was the final straw after room-size problems.
