About peter ferguson
I have been hosting travelers to Costa Rica for several years now. After travelling in this gorgeous country I came to the conclusion that La Fortuna is the best of all worlds. We have rain forest, volcanoes, wild rivers, amazing landscapes and hiking that is unsurpassed. One could spends months in the area and continue to make new discoveries in the form of habitat, hiking trails, rivers to run, and the 'pura vida' hospitality that people in a small town such as this extend to visitors.
peter ferguson purchased this House in 2013
Why peter ferguson chose La Fortuna
This is the perfect house for a family or group to come and use as a base for exploration of the La Fortuna region. There is plenty of space for everyone in the 'grand salon' great room that has cozy nooks and even a hammock to enjoy a lazy afternoon. We have a fabulous position in the middle of town that allows you to walk to everything including shops, eateries, grocery stores and all other necessities.
What makes this House unique
We are centrally located to a wide variety of activity options here. We are a short ride to the Arenal National Park, the La Fortuna waterfall, the canopy experiences, several biological reserves and wild rivers for rafting. Good food options are all around us and we can make all your arrangements before you arrive so that the experience is nothing but pleasure for your group.

We rented entire guest house for our group of 10 and it worked great. We had our own bedrooms and bathrooms and a great room (with fabulous artwork) to hang out in. We divided our time between hanging on the front deck overlooking the busy street, walking to restaurants and shopping, or out at various activities. The guest house had everything we needed including outstanding hosts. Peter and Heidy arranged tours and activities for us, recommended restaurants, and promptly answered all of our questions. They also supplied a earplugs that were much needed due to the noisy street that is active until the early hours of the morning.
Perfect House for large group
We recently stayed in La Fortuna with a group of 12 twenty and thirtysomethings. Everyone fit comfortably and had a bed. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom which was great. The house has a cool, artsy vibe and has a very nice, huge open common area. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals as a group. Location was great, right in the center of town. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Favorite part of the house was the large balcony in the front.
Peter was a great host
We had an excellent Christmas in this nice place. It was in the heart of the nice little town. Peter helped us with everything. We would love to go back.
Great place right in town
The sleeping Indian is a great place. Each room has its own bathroom and shower. Took me a while to figure out the hot water but it worked. There is no air conditioning which was unexpected to me, but open the front and back porch doors and the cross breeze does the trick. We hardly used the kitchen because all the good restaurants aka Sodas places are 1-4 blocks away. If you do use the kitchen clean up right away because ants will be all over the place (its the tropics, what do you expect). Peter arranged our activities that picked us up at the house and his assistant Heidi made great suggestions. We bought a couple cigars and sat in the front porch chillin at night... it was the life. Laundry helped a bunch because a sudden down pour can happen at anytime then its gone... Dryer baby! You can't beat the price though... There were 6 of us and we all love it. If/When I come back to La Fortuna I will be staying at the Sleeping Indian for sure.
Amazing location, great host
This place was literally right downtown. We could walk to all the great restaurants and tour guide places. The lodging was spacious and relaxing and plenty of rooms to accommodate 10 people. For the daily rate, this place was a steal. If you don't want to be secluded and location is key, don't think twice.
thanks so much for your positive feedback
I am so pleased that you enjoyed the house so much
and it was a pleasure having you here
We are right next to the Post Office, across thes street from one of the loveliest plazas in Central America
The map on the site may not be reliable - we are right next to the Arenal volcano - there is another La Fortuna in Costa Rica and VRBO has this confused
We are lucky to have so many available activities in our back yard here in La Fortuna. It is one of the adventure travel capitals of Costa Rica. We have a variety of thermal springs to visit, mountains to climb, rivers to raft, jungles to hike in and of course the Arenal Volcanoe to explore. The center of town has a wide range of eating possibilities and a plaza that is beautiful.
