Horizon Hotel - Adults only
Clean hotel, Good views but beware
Check in was a farce, They were late picking us up from the Airport. We had to wait to go to our rooms, as the driver (who was going to take us to our room), had to go back to the airport to collect guests they had forgotten.
We were then taken to our room - that was it, no guidance as to where the restaurant, bar, general layout was provided. The receptionist told us, that we had a Hot tub on our room's terrace that we were free to utilize. Despite being promised 3 times that it would be filled (and cleaned) it never filled during our weeks stay. In fact we don't think it had been filled all season as it was dirty and had leaves in it (despite having a cover).
Similarly when we pointed out there was a leak on one of the shower connections, that dripped continuously, this was never fixed.
The hotel was closing just after we were leaving for the season and the staff appeared not to be interested in providing a good service.
Be aware this hotel is distributed down a very steep hillside so not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. There are no guard rails around pool decks etc. It is very exposed if there are high winds.
Surprised one day to see a baby in push chair in the restaurant as this is supposed to be adults only..
Good points - great view to see the sunsets.
The room was cleaned and serviced each day. We were given a map of the island, notated with good restaurants and beaches. Be aware that the local 3 restaurants close down during first 2 weeks October
Terrific views from hotel
Fabulous views from hotel. 20 minute walk to bus stop though excellent bus service. Limited facilities at hotel eg no courtesy bus as in nearby hotels, no entertainment, no book exchange or games, limited room service menu, .Hotel on a steep slope so those with walking difficulties may have difficulty moving around as no lifts.
New hotel with potential
Newer hotel in a great location with lots of potential but not quite there yet - staff is helpful but needs training on checkin etc, Phillip the driver was awesome and Dimitri is the best!!
Location is convenient, 15min drive from the port (shuttle is complimentary) and 5min walk to the bus stop and along other resorts in Agios Ionnis - nice quiet location away from the downtown.
Front desk disorganized
Hotel is amazing waiters the drivers are amazing but the front desk has a lot of work to do.. for the amount of people they have only one person working,, little disorganized I argued last day on something I paid . They need to hire qualified agents for hotel . Rebuild their front desk!
But the hotel is beautiful and would return .
lovely hotel with excellent views of the coast, the bars location isn't ideal being on top of the sun beds around the small general pool. All staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, while the rooms are spacious and very clean
Relaxing from start to finish
Good location although be prepared for a lot of walking to the local restaurants and even to the bus stop. The room was well furnished and the occupants of the other four rooms sharing our paved area and pool caused us no hassle.
Mykonos Town is pleasant but very crowded with up to four cruise ships visiting daily. Best beaches on the island are somewhat remote but the journeys were worthwhile. The main beaches are to be avoided unless you like sunbeds and umbrellas as far as the eye can see. I would rather have been at Blackpool beach than Ornos beach on Mykonos. The island is very small and suffers from too many cars, quad bikes, mopeds and buses - the roads are narrow and terrible and can't cope with the vehicles. The worst Greek island we have been to for traffic chaos, and despite the coastline being very attractive inland it quite the opposite. A trip to Delos is a must.
