Double or Twin Room
Old hotel in dump part of town.
Does not match the pictures on the website. Nothing pretty about it or its surroundings. Very isolated area.
The Barman was friendly and the cook and food was very good.
Hi Gillian - thanks for taking a moment to leave a review, although I disagree with your characterisation of this historic area. Full information about the hotel and it's surroundings is available online, including Google virtual tours of inside and out.
The rooms like a YMCA
Hotel was not ideal, the room was above the smoking shelter and it was evident it was not built as a hotel, the stairs are very steep and the corridors very narrow the windows don't fully open so the air flow was non existence. The breakfast area is more like a transport cafe and at £90 per night not value for money compared to the other hotels which we stayed in this week at that price it was bottom of the list.
Dear Phil - thanks for taking a moment to leave your feedback. I'm sorry if we didn't hit the standard for you on this occasion. You're right - the Aqua has had many lives as a building and I believe it's all the more charming for it. It does mean, however, that it has developed as a hotel, rather being purposefully designed.
Basic, but reasonable
The facility are quite basic, but in general the hotel was clean, the room was sparse, no chairs no phone, however neither of these are essential if you are just after a bed for the night. The room was a twin, and one bed was noisy and not the most comfortable, but then beds can't suit everybody.
If you are not after luxury, then this was an OK hotel.
Thanks for taking a moment to leave a review. Sorry we didn't score more than OK - but we're always trying to improve so hopefully you'll come back again soon.
