About Liz or Doug Cochran
Liz and Doug are semi-retired with three adult children who lived their entire life in this home while attending local schools The neighbourhood consists of mostly character houses with long term residents and there is a school about a half block away. This was a wonderful neighbourhood to raise a family in and we enjoyed it so much we never considered moving. Shopping/restaurants/transportation are only two blocks away.
Liz or Doug Cochran purchased this Apartment in 1978
Why Liz or Doug Cochran chose West Side
Our home is located in a delightful residential neighbourhood very close to downtown and to cultural/sporting/recreational amenities. The community is safe, friendly and warm and the beauty of our ocean and mountains makes this a perfect spot.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love the architecture of the neighbourhood, the ability to easily walk down to the ocean and the familiarity of long term neighbours and friendly, accessible shopping.

Thanks so much... glad you loved the neighbourhood. You were lovely guests .
Lovely place, kind hosts, great neighbourhood
A nice clean rental in a lovely green neighbourhood
The rental was perfect for the 3 of us; we were delighted to find the property was clean and well equipped (good tv, coffee machine, laundry facilities etc) and the cake that Liz left for us what delicious.
The rental is in a lovely neighbourhood. We didn't have a car with us but if we had it would have been easy to find somewhere to park in the residential area.
Liz and Doug were away when we arrived but had provided the key code etc so all was organised, and their son Casey was on hand to help with anything required.
We really appreciated having 2 bikes available. We used them and hired a 3rd bike via a local public scheme. This was very economical; you just need to park the bike (momentarily) every 30 mins to keep within the minimum fee. This was no problem.
We are not vegetarians- but nonetheless we chose twice to eat at the local vegetarian restaurant (Naam) as it was so popular and had a great 'buzz'. We had a great meal and would highly recommend.
We took the free bus from downtown to visit Capilano bridge. We nearly got on the wrong bus (to Grouse mountain!). So be careful to get on the right one.
The only negative really was the building work ongoing on the next door house, with workmen using tools daily from 7:30am.
A minor suggestion- I think blackout blinds or curtains in addition to the existing slatted blinds would be good. And a throw for the sofa would be nice.
Thank you Liz, Doug, Casey and family for a lovely stay at your property.
Fry family (England)
Thank you Liz and Doug for opening your lovely home. It had everything we needed including all the coffee you had in stock for us. I really loved all the built in shelving along most of the walls. It was a great place to store phones and cords and wallets and knick knacks...so ingenious. The garden was gorgeous...sorry we didn't have time to enjoy weeding which is something we normally like to do. But time was so short to enjoy Kitsilano. We didn't have a car, but the buses took us everywhere we needed to go...Granville Island, Stanley Park, Downtown etc.
Thank you Liz for your suggestion to enjoy a sunset dinner at Jericho Beach and to eat at Banana Leaf. Also, we went to the Japanese Festival also brought to our attention because of you. Your son I think his name is Casey was very kind and social. He was sweeping up leaves and helping the front yard look so tidy.
The only downer about the trip which has no bearing on your part was your neighbor's construction building that began at 7:30am which we weren't ready for on our first morning there. The 2nd morning they started at 8am better than 7:30am with electric saws which was still annoying but it got us all out of bed.
The park near your house was perfect for our whole family. It was great to have that for our 3 year old. We walked everywhere when we weren't on the bus...we walked to the 137 meter Kitsilano pool and swam there a couple times. The fireworks were spectacular. Everything was so convenient, and our family will forever have the most amazing memories of our Kitsilano trip at your humble palace.
Thank you so much, from the Morace family
Lovely suite in a great neighborhood
Charming two bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchen, living and eating area. Owners are easy to work with and respond quickly to requests. Back door opens to a lovely garden where you can sit and relax. Grocery stores, bakeries and restaurants all within easy walking distance. Quiet, safe neighborhood with great access to Vancouver attractions!
Perfect home away from home!
My daughter and I loved our stay in Liz and Doug’s suite.
Due to flight delays we arrived far later than we had planned so we didn’t have time to go by a grocery store but no worries! They had left a loaf of delicious homemade cranberry bread as well as Keurig coffee! So thoughtful.
The suite was also nice and cool when it was toasty outside. The gardens in the back are so beautiful and a great place to have a glass of wine in the evening.
The location is a quiet neighborhood but within two blocks on either side of shopping and restaurants.
Thank you for all of your suggestions - Katie and I will remember this trip forever!
Our property is located in the heart of Kitsilano, a lovely residential neighbourhood very close to downtown Vancouver (a bridge away). We have lived in the same character house for 30 years. There are lovely walks and hikes in wooded terrain and along beaches, in addition to many restaurants and cultural activities a short walk, bus ride or drive away.
