About Casa Paso Fino
We first discovered Esperanza ten years ago on a day-trip to Vieques. A family of four, two of us recently out of college and two of us long out of college, took a publico (group taxi) from the ferry to the Malecon in Esperanza, and all said immediately, “Oh! Where's this?!” Like others who “discovered” Vieques, we never went anywhere else. (We had been staying for a week outside San Juan, on a lovely beach, but we did not like the ambiance at all…and would never have returned.) As for Esperanza, the Malecon and Vieques…we have all four returned every year since, first as renters and then as home owners – bringing friends and family with us. Unfortunately, we cannot stay all year! We invite you to share our home with us and enjoy Esperanza…the beaches, the music, the food…and the spectacular water views.

Why Casa Paso Fino chose Vieques
A perfect location for multi-generational families or families traveling together. Everyone can choose his own activity or beach by day, gathering at sunset in the rooftop eating pavilion with sweeping views of the Esperanza harbor and Caribbean beyond. Quiet street yet close to everything! (Teenagers and others can walk back and forth from the Malecon on their own…for early morning breakfast or evening dancing.)
What makes this House unique
Property is located on the highest and most quiet street in Esperanza, yet within easy walking distance of the Malecon (promenade along the waterfront), where one can enjoy drinks, food, and salsa music in bistros while gazing at the sea (and often at passing Paso Fino riders)! A grocery store is also close by. Sun Bay, the largest beach on the island, begins at the end of the Malecon. (Grocery stores in PR sell beer, wine, and liquor.)

Enjoyed the views and the breeze in a wonderful house
We enjoyed the house and would love to come back. It is very well appointed and in a great location.
Great family getaway
Casa Paso Fino has a great location accessible to the Malecon and very close to the best beaches in Vieques. The neighborhood is not that great but the street we were on was ok. Beware it is noisy with the roosters and dogs barking at night and early mornings. The house itself was very nice and clean. Second floor was better decorated and nicer than the first floor that seemed to be older/more outdated. The terrace on the roof was wonderful with gorgeous views. Nice place for a bbq. Overall, we had a really nice weekend in Vieques and were very comfortable in this house.
Thank you for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay! The roosters and dogs "come with Vieques," even high in the hills! As to the neighborhood, in our experience, unless you isolate yourselves in a mountain property, away from the beaches, there is no area on the island that is uniform and upscale. We chose Esperanza because it is the nicest community on the island, and it is safe. Anyone can walk home late at night to our home from the music and cafes, even teenagers. (No night driving; no horses in front of cars!) And yes, the 1st floor is the original floor of the house...but only used for large groups who need the 2 extra bedrooms. The 2nd floor, with view, is main floor. We hope you come again!
Casa Paso Fino in Vieques
Out of our expectations, this place in Esperanza is a perfect stay for families with or without kids. It's on top the mountain with excellent panoramic of the ocean and surroundings. Minutes to a couple of local grocery shops and beaches, cheap taxis always available at anytime for farther beaches, no need for rental car!
The property is well furnished with stylish decors everywhere in every room and equipped with full sets of kitchen utilities, cookwares, dining sets, even with microwave, toaster and dishwasher, and two charcoal Webber grills! And everywhere is very clean! We, 3 families, each have two kids, rented both floors of this property, one family stayed on the first floor (a slightly older foundation), two families stayed on the second floor (newly built). There are enough rooms and beds for all of us, the owner actually bought two aerobeds just in case for the kids but we never needed to use those aerobeds. The owner also provided a binder full of information for local attractions, transportation contacts, eateries. There is also wireless internet connections for both floors, that made me felt guilty when I checked my work email messages. The weather was unbelievable for all the days we stayed there. The Island residents were so friendly and hospitable, feel free to ask for permission to pick fresh mangos, star fruits, passion fruits and quenepas out of the trees for free tastes! Will definitely stay at this place again when in Vieques next time, can't wait!!!
Great family escape
The house was great. We had a big group of 12 which included adults and young children under 10. We rented the whole house and it was great. There were plenty of space and not too far from the Malecon. We chose this house to avoid having to rent a car and be close to the restaurants in Esperanza. I would recommend this house to big parties and small family as well.
Lovely stay at Caso Paso Fino
A friend and I rented the first floor or this delightful house. A second group of friends took the second floor. We on the first floor had a well equipped kitchen although we only made coffee in the morning to carry up to the large roof deck to enjoy the gentle morning breeze and 360 degree view of bay and green hills. We joined our later-sleeping pals on the main floor for breakfast before heading out to pristine, practically deserted beaches (in February!) Afternoon lounging in the sparkling fresh living room (also with panoramic view) preceded a short walk to dinner downtown. I plan to return with my children and grandchildren.
Esperanza village is a choice location on the beautiful island of Vieques -- ringed by magnificent beaches, where 2/3rds of the island is wildlife preserve. Enjoy pubs and restaurants along the Caribbean harbor, with sail boats in view, as well as Sun Bay within walking distance of the house. Spend an evening in the bioluminescent bay, watch the stars in the roof deck hammock, and dine in your own home with the Caribbean always in view.
