Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Baileys Harbor

Sleeps 6-10

Relax and enjoy your vacation at this newly remodeled home on your own private 2 acres and 200' of pristine Lake Michigan shoreline This Cape Cod style home has a coastal cottage feel with hardwood floors, painted woodwork, granite countertops and tall vaulted ceiling.

The exterior is all cedar including the large relaxing deck overlooking Lake Michigan. Majestic Cedars, Hemlocks, and Maples tower around the home.

The shoreline boasts a great view with shallow water making it great for kids.

You can take in the beautiful views from the large wrap around deck or stroll down to the water's edge where we have additional seating and table. Relax and enjoy your morning coffee with gorgeous sunrises. Then finish your day off with your favorite beverage and take in the reflective sunsets.

You can go for walks along the shoreline, skipping stones along the way or walk down the private drive viewing the abundant wild flowers and beautiful woods. Watch for various wildlife such as Deer, Turkey, Wood Chucks, Eagles, Swans, Pelicans and many more woodland creatures. Walk a little further and explore the Heins Creek Nature Preserve, with it's winding creek that flows between Kangaroo Lake and Lake Michigan.

You can enjoy gathering around the fire pit by the shoreline for roasting marshmallows and telling your favorite stories beneath the bright starry sky.

The location is perfect; not in the middle of the noisy busy part of the county, yet centrally located and close enough to get most places in under 10 minutes.

Enjoy the abundant recreation of Door County such as; winery tours, golf, kayaking, zip lining canopy tours, Cana Island light house tours, performing arts, galleries, world class salmon and walleye fishing, hiking, wind surfing, sailing, diving on shipwrecks, romantic sunsets, and ongoing festivals. There are also endless dining opportunities to experience.

A great place in Baileys Harbor to check out is Lake Shore Adventures. They have glass bottom kayak tours of ship wrecks, Salmon fishing charters, zip lining canopy tours at Ridges Sanctuary, and lots of rentals (kayaks, jet skis, bikes, pontoon boats). Their office is located in downtown Baileys Harbor and they have a great website.

You'll find yourself relaxed and very comfortable in this home away from home without breaking the bank. We also have a similar remodeled home between Baileys Harbor and Sister Bay with beautiful views of Cana Island. This home also has a 5 star rating, VRBO # 699521.

*** All stays less than 1 week or overlapping designated turnover day during peak season are subject to approval. We only book weekly during July and August unless there is an odd date open.

About Chris

Our family recently purchased this beautiful property and had it remodeled with new wood floors, kitchen cabinets with granite tops, air conditioning, carpeting... and the list goes on. We fell in love with this location in Door County long ago and built our own home less than a mile from here.

Chris purchased this house in 2013

Why Chris chose Door County

We love this area of Door County with its pristine shorelines, mature trees and abundant wildlife. Door County resembles the Atlantic Coast of New England with its rugged limestone shorelines and bluffs.

This home is located away from all the noise and congestion of other areas yet is conveniently located to most activities of Door County in less than 10 minutes.

We love outdoor activities such as going to the beach, hiking endless trails, kayaking or paddle boarding by the light houses and bays, world class King Salmon, Small-mouth Bass and trophy Walleye fishing, golfing, awesome kiteboarding and its all right here without the noise and congestion of traffic.

There is also very fine dining in all of the towns in Door County wether you like steaks and seafood, Italian or a Friday fish fry.

Door County boasts several wineries as well as art and theatre entertainment. Every weekend there is a festival in one or more of the nearby towns. We find that one summer is not enough time to take it all in, but we love trying.

We are very excited to be able to offer such a great property for you to enjoy your vacation at and we care about your visit being memorable.

What makes this house unique

The open great room with many windows and views of the water make this home ideal. Step outside through the double doors onto the huge cedar deck and take in the beauty of the large trees and sounds of the waves on the shore.

Go for a long walk down the private drive that leads to this home and pick Thimble Berries or go further and explore the nature preserve at the end of the road.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for providing such a lovely home and setting for our vacation. My mother and I had a restful stay. Gigi, my little doggie loved walking the lane and along the water.

We enjoyed all the wonderful dining in the area. LOVED Harbor Fish Market Grill, Cookery. Also enjoyed Cornerstone, Blue Ox (for lunch), Summertime, Chop, and Water front.

Went to Anclam Park in town for great swimming and sunning!

We shopped daily in all the towns and our favorite was Fish Creek.

The chairs and table by the water were great.

All week the temperature was in the upper 90's and the air worked great!! Hope to return!

God Bless!

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property! The house was clean and inviting. The woods and shoreline were amazing. I highly recommend getting up early to watch the sunrise, it is a photographer's dream. The fire pit on the beach is cool but slightly awkward as the ground is at a slant and difficult to sit chairs around. The beach is covered in stones so it isn't ideal for very small children but our dog had a blast. Make sure you bring your own toilet paper though. It is a very peaceful and private location. I would definitely recommend staying here for your next Door County vacation!

Great property, terrible beds

  • 3 of 5

The property is in a beautiful, secluded, and serene setting. I enjoyed the view of the water, the trees, and cooking in the kitchen. I was also thankful that I was able to bring my dog with to this location comfortably. Working with the owner was very easy, check-in and check-out both went smoothly. The property was clean and well maintained. Outside deck and sitting area near the water were both lovely.

I would not rent here again because all 4 beds in the house were extremely uncomfortable. Also, the beach is on a very beautiful setting, but during our stay it was covered in thick green algae/slime. The green slime prevented us from being able to swim or allow our dog to swim in the water. 2 very large dead fish also washed ashore on the first day of our stay and were there throughout, creating an unpleasant smell and preventing us from fully enjoying the beach.

Owner's Response: Jane, Thank you for staying at our home. We were surprised by the comment about the beds as they were not cheap beds and are quite new. I realize that this can be a subjective opinion and that our beds are a medium firmness. They do not have pillow tops either. I will inquire with a few of our regular guests to see what there opinions are ... and if they feel the beds could be better we will address them. I myself, want a comfortable bed when I stay somewhere. Regarding the water quality of shoreline; I know this past week was a problem though out Door County as lake conditions created an abundance of algae in the waters near the shoreline. This can happen on rare occasions along the Lake Michigan shoreline and we have no control over these events. The lakes waters can be emerald blue one week and change the following. We do clean up shoreline area on occasion, but because we do not monitor it throughout the week it can be unpredictable. Please know that we care about our guests stay and strive to make memorable experiences. Chris and Robin

Wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

I have been going to Door County annually for over 20 years and this was by far our best accommodations for a group. The house was immaculate, spacious, well equipped, and private. We has four in our party for a week and everyone "had their own space". A couple of our party members will be booking this for extended family vacations.

Baileys Harbor has 2 beautiful public sand beaches
Car: necessary

Baileys Harbor is conveniently located among many of the Northern Door County communities. We boast over 6,000 acres of natural areas to explore including the Ridges Sanctuary. You can hike, bike and kayak to your heart's continent around Baileys Harbor.

There are three lighthouses in Baileys. Cana Island just north of town is open to the public and you may even climb to the top of this working light house. Another is the Bird Cage light house on a private island in Baileys that can be viewed up close by Kayaking or taking a boat tour from Lake Shore Adventures. Then there is the light house that is now part of the Ridges Sanctuary with a long boardwalk leading up from the public beach.

There is world class King Salmon and Rainbow Trout fishing off Baileys Harbor. Catch your trophy or at least some fine table fare for the grill during your stay. Again see Lake Shore Adventures for Charters or the latest fishing report if you have your own boat.

On a windy day go almost anywhere in Baileys and watch the kite boarders doing there acrobatics across the waves. There can be a dozen kites going at any given time.

If your real adventurous you can snorkel or dive various ship wrecks scattered across the Lake Michigan bottom. Again see Lake Shore Adventures for scuba and snorkel equipment, guided tours, or glass bottom kayaks to view the wrecks.

There are endless things to do in DC no matter what you prefer to do. One of the best parts about staying at our home is the location. It is tranquil and relaxing yet convenient to all the attractions. Enjoy your activities during the day and come home to peace and relaxation.

We just purchased this home in 2013, 1 mile down the road from ours. We spent several months remodeling the home with all the modern features you would expect. It is a wonderful home on a serene private waterfront location that you are sure to love.
