Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Florida North Central Gulf Coast - The TreeHouse

Accommodations: The TreeHouse is a spacious two bedroom stilt home with a king size bed in the master bedroom with a ½ bath and two additional single beds in the second bedroom. It sleeps 4 to 5 comfortably with a roll away tucked under one of the single beds in case you need it. This property has a nicely done kitchen, a shower for two in the main bath, and is very airy and light. The Kitchen is ready to use with complete sets of dishes, pots and pans, silverware, stove, microwave, coffee pot and utensils and a local grocery store can provide what you need. A washer and dryer combo is in the kitchen. Linens and towels are provided also. Cable is provided as well as Wi-Fi. Two porches look out over the water and the front porch was literally built around two oak trees, hence the name TreeHouse.

Spectacular views of the gulf, especially at sunset are seen from both the dining and living rooms or enjoy it from the front porch while sitting in one of two canvas swing chairs or laying in the relaxing canvas hammock which hangs from the ceiling. A boat dock out back on the canal allows fisherman to keep their boats in the water, but watch the tides to ensure enough water flow to get out to the gulf when ready to fish. This property is located on a commercial fishing/clamming canal in the back as well as the Gulf of Mexico in the front making it a unique property in a one-of-a-kind town. Like to fish but didn’t bring a boat, you can fish and crab right from our dock or join others on the new huge fishing dock downtown. Crab traps are on the dock, just remember to bring them in from the water when you go! We are also pet friendly with a small extra fee to accommodate your best friend. Covered parking is available under the second porch and the property can handle multiple cars.

The walk to town and the city’s beach is a leisurely 20 minutes along picturesque streets. Some guests rent golf carts in town to explore the entire island. The natural beauty of Cedar key and its slow pace allow visitors to feel what old Florida must have been like years ago allowing for very restful vacations. Whether you are here to just relax, sit and read a book, kayak, fish or just to enjoy the diverse wildlife, The TreeHouse can accommodate you comfortably.

Cedar Key hosts several festivals during the year so get your reservations early if you plan to attend one as the town fills up fast on those weekends. Special events include the Seafood Festival in October, the Art Festival in April, the Small Craft Boat Festival, the ClamAmerica celebration on the 4th of July and a kayak festival in September.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I was going to e-mail you and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. The town was interesting, the seafood was delicious and the neighbors were friendly. And your house was beautifully equipped and was very comfortable.

Thanks for working hard to make our stay wonderful.

Everyone loved The TreeHouse!

  • 5 of 5

We brought along our dog and cat. The cat spent almost all of his time on the screened porch - thought the little shelf all the way around was meant for him! The dog enjoyed playing with Rocky and exploring the area. Pat and I really liked how homey and comfortable it was. Great location, beautiful views and so close to the downtown area yet private as could be. New restaurant 83 West opened last week on Dock St. and had great food and service. A perfect retreat - we hope to return often.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review and the tip on the new Restaurant. Where is a good place to eat is a question that is often asked. I'm glad that you and the whole family enjoyed the TreeHouse visit. I also wanted to say thanks for taking care of the place and making it easy on us to ready the house. Look forward to having your family return for another stay.

FANTASTIC!

  • 5 of 5

Our family and two dogs stayed at the Tree House for 3 nights and loved it! It's on a dead street, with a canal in back and a magnificent water view in front. The house itself has everything you could possibly need when away from home - even Baggies! There's a large screened porch at one side of the house, perfect for dining, and a big front porch with a view that is never boring. The people in the neighborhood are friendly, love dogs, and our dogs had fun puzzling over the crabs on the back deck.

The owner has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It really is a home away from home. And it's close to everything!

Wonderful, a ton better than the pictures!

  • 5 of 5

This place is perfectly located with stunning views from every window in the house. The house has many porches (one screened) and a bay view from the front and a canal view (and dock) in the back. The kitchen is the perfect size and very well stocked for our family of 4. The house is extremely clean-it is much much nicer than the VRBO pictures.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review. The TreeHouse really is a Gem. I spend most of my time when I'm there and at the house on the Front Porch. Next time I go there I will take better pictures. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Just Right

  • 5 of 5

The Treehouse is clean, relaxed and welcoming. We really enjoyed our time there. The view out over the Gulf in front of the house is very pleasing. And we loved that our pets could be with us. Cedar Key is a delight. We live on the Chesapeake Bay in rural Virginia - Cedar Key and the friendly folks we met very much reminded us of that area. Tony's chowder is yummy but our favorite place to eat is Annie's Cafe. We will definitely return.

Relaxing in a place that feels like home!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy your beautiful home. The furnishings, layout, and "extras" made our stay just what we needed. The trees within the porch along with those in the back really make your place standout from its neighbors. We could not have asked for a better stay!

The treehouse was awesome!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the place. If your looking for white sand beaches this is probably not the place for you. (though they are there if you take the ferry to the outer key) but if your looking for a relaxing get away in old Florida style this is the place for you. The nature coast was good to us, we had fresh clams right off the boat (which we bought 2 doors down from the house). We free lined crabs off the private dock. We managed to catch enough for a meal in one day. We rented a golf cart for 2 hours and saw the entire island. We really enjoyed riding through the beautiful cemetary. If your not adventurous enough to cook clams on your own then go to steamers. Clams bucket is to die for there. Our host (at the treehouse) was very accommodating and we didn't want for anything. The house was very clean and we'll stocked. Oh and talk about dog friendly, this whole island couldn't be more dog friendly. All in all we loved our stay and will definitely be back. Thanks Bill!
