About Dave and Sachi Bricker
My wife, Saccavadi and I (Dave) live in the main cabin adjacent to the Guest house. We both love the desert immensely with all it's solitude, wildlife and starry nights. As it turns out this guest cabin changed my life. I met Saccavadi 9 years ago when she was a guest in the Guest Cabin -- she was staying in the guest house to take advantage of the solitude and quiet of the desert while she finished her doctorate thesis in Buddhist studies. Saccavadi was a Bhuddist monk when she arrived at my guest house... saffron robes, shaved head. She'd been a monk for 21 years having ordained in Burma at the age of 19. Many of our guests find Saccavadi's story a very moving one. Simply google 'saccavadi' where much has been written about this simple monk from Burma. I haven't a clue as to what Sachi saw in me but as karma?? would have it we soon fell in love. Been married almost 9 years now. Again, it's important to note that my wife and I live adjacent to the guest house. With that being said, please know it's our policy to greet you when you arrive, help you get settled in, and be available should you need anything... after that it's our policy to leave you alone so that you may connect with what we're sure you'll find an amazing and unique piece of the desert -- this is reflected in our many positive reviews. Thank you :-)

Why Dave and Sachi Bricker chose San Bernardino County
This property is quite unique. The population density of the area is extremely sparse which helps assure a connection with the natural environment right outside your door. The Guest Cabin, along with the main cabin is situated on a piece of land that is surrounded by hundreds, actually thousands, of government protected acres with direct access into the Bighorn Mountain Wilderness Area. The Guest Cabin is truly away from it all. You'll travel along three miles of dirt road to get to our place. When you arrive you'll instantly become aware that you are nestled in a private valley of some of the most beautiful Boulder outcroppings one could imagine, where Joshua trees, pinyon pines, and wildlife abound. An endless variety of birds are attracted to the dripping bird bath located on the deck right outside the 16 foot sliding windows that gaze upon the valley of boulders. Cottontail rabbits, antelope squirrels, the occaisional bobcat can be seen. On three occasions we've seen bighorn sheep in the backcountry and last year a bear with two cubs came strolling through...a rare site...perhaps... but I wonder how many creatures pass by when I'm not looking out the window!
What makes this Cabin unique
The Guest House is ideal for those wishing to hike, birdwatch, and just be awed by the miles of magnificent rock formations. It's unlikely that you will see anyone while hiking the area. Just you and nature. Many of our guests hike to Black Mountain...the reward being incredible endless views and that feeling of accomplishment that 'I did it!'. A hot tub offers sore muscles comforting relief and also serves as an ideal location to relax and watch a falling star or two. No city lights visible from here, we're designated dark sky territory. We also offer a secluded meditation/yoga hut with padded carpeting and cushions for sitting on the floor or doing yoga postures. The hut has fantastic views with plenty of privacy and quiet -- conducive to listening to the song of a bird, the stirring of the breeze, a perfect setting for some quiet contemplation...

This place is the perfect desert hideaway
The living space is really nice. Everything just as it should be. I can't think of a single criticism. I enjoyed the extreme quiet during my stay. The stars are also really amazing. Watching the wildlife in the morning while I had my coffee was pretty dreamy. David and Sachi are also super super nice people. I can't recommend this place enough.
Unique and serene get-away
We stayed at Gamma Gulch and had an awesome experience. We hiked the area with Rosie, Dave and Sachi’s dog, experienced the serene environment of the meditation hut. Bathed in the outside spa under the brilliant stars and slept in an outside bed. Everything was so special. Excellent hosts and the place although it is remote had everything you need. Would definitely come back!
A memorable experience
Once we arrived at Dave and Sachi's wonderful remote cabin for a two-night stay we didn't want to leave -- and wished we had more time there. Don't be dissuaded by a 3-mile dirt-road drive in. The reward is a perfect place to relax and take in the high desert's natural surroundings. We enjoyed a hike guided by Sachi and the dogs, Rosie and Shanti, on boulder-flanked paths, past blooming cacti, Joshua trees, wildflowers and signs of wildlife. In the mornings, frisky rabbits, chipmunks, ground squirrels, Gambel's quail and Scrub jays stopped by for a birdseed breakfast, while a Scott's oriole and ravens came to drink in the birdbath on the back patio. A welcome feature was the patio's retractable awning which gave us the option of sun or shade. The thoughtfully planned cabin was comfortable and had everything we could have needed. Dave and Sachi were exemplary hosts. If you enjoy peace and quiet in a unique setting you will not be disappointed. This place is a real winner, deserving more than 5 stars.
UNBELIEVABLE. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST.
This place is pure magic. We had a tremendous time and Dave & Sachi and their sweet dog Rosie are fantastic. The drive up to the property is stunningly beautiful. The house is very comfortable and private. The bed is great, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need and even odd and ends that other guests left behind. You cannot see a neighbor from the property - and i think the closest one is within 1/2 mile away and the house is completely surrounded by protected lands. We were so comfortable, it was so beautiful that we opted to to mostly hang out at the house and hike around the property and watch sunsets ....cooking out under the super moon on new years day - soaking in the hot tub in moon light. This is the best place i have ever stayed via AirBnb or VRBO. WE WILL BE BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We absolutely loved every element of our trip out there, the desert, the hosts, the property, the furnishings, the mediatation hut, the decor, the desert bunnies and of course the sweet pup Rosie coming to check on us throughout the day and night. Wish i could give it 6 stars.
A life changing experience!!!
A lovely spot, incredible views and wildlife. Terrific hiking with Sachi and Rosie ( their lovely dog) We had everything we needed in this cozy, well equipped cabin. We really enjoyed Dave and Sachi’s hospitality. Loved the meditation hut. The hot tub was so comforting after a long day of hiking. We started each morning feeding the birds and bunnies. It was heaven. We got a great sense of how it is to live the desert. We loved it and can’t wait to go back. Thanks Dave and Sachi. See you soon 😆
Magical experience and beautiful cottage
David and Sachi have created a pretty magical space in the middle of the yucca valley desert. Lovely hosts, beautiful space and one of kind natural surroundings.
The setting rivals the boulder outcroppings and land features in Joshua Tree Park, less the tourists and traffic.
