About Jennifer Macdonald

My husband Mike and I grew up on Cape Cod in historic Sandwich and now live on a farm in lovely Plympton. We restore antique and distressed properties in the southern coastal area of MA. The Black Walnut inn is our one of antique restorations built in 1808 we lovingly restored this post and beam home for just over a year. The house was once a barn and carriage house and converted into a house in the 1950s. We love new england all year round - each season brings a new adventure!

Jennifer Macdonald purchased this house in 2

Why Jennifer Macdonald chose Plympton

We fell in love with this home the moment we walked into years before we actually purchased it. It sits on a beautiful 6.5 acres with nature, woods surrounding the property. The antique historic home with post and beam construction is also our favorite. We spent tons of time making the kitchen ideal for entertaining. What was once the art studio is now a large dining room space with custom black walnut table that seats atleast 14!

What makes this house unique

Everything about this home is unique. Built in 1808 it was once a barn for the antique colonial down the street and sat on 275 acres. It is now on 6.5 acres and abuts 80 acres of conservation walking trails known as Cato's ridge. The little jones river flows through the side of this property and the sound of the river is magical. The cathedral kitchen exposes all the hand hewn original beams. What was once a barn is now a lovely home. Plympton is a hidden gem full of farms, cranberry bogs, and lovely antique homes. Just minutes away from Plymouth, Kingston, Carver, Middelboro. Lots to do any time of year for just about anyone!

Guestbook comments from the owner

An absolutely perfect house to spend our Thanksgiving! All the personal touches from design to the comfortable beds made our first AirBnB experience out of this world. The house was exactly as described and so much more. I hands down recommend! Thank you Jen for a wonderful place for us to enjoy our Thanksgiving!

If you love the charm of older homes, you must stay here!

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented Jennifer's house for a two night stay for a group of 8 and it worked out perfectly! The kitchen was well equipped (a larger stock pot for cooking pasta would be a nice addition), clean and spacious. Bathrooms were nicely updated and the beds were very comfortable. The feature that everyone loved was the dining room table...what a great room!! Overall, the house was spotless & suited our needs to a tee. Jennifer was great to deal with & provided all of the information we needed ahead of time. I would absolutely rent this house again. Thanks Jennifer!!

Perfect for our getaway weekend!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful, beautiful house to stay in for a weekend away! We had our Girl's Christmas Get Together here and it was the perfect choice. Just exploring the house itself was a treat - it had all kinds of character and stories. The area is wonderful, close enough for us to go into Plymouth Center for Christmas Show on Friday night, Saturday woke up to coffee brewing, breakfast and off to a Craft Show, worked up an appetite for a great late lunch at a restaurant we found, then back for our Christmas Party. We couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the weekend - a beautiful retreat to make the upcoming Holidays so special! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
